Well, they haven't been killing the regular city guard, just the Elites, who are explicitly identified as being evil. There was a scene earlier where Big Ears refused to slaughter the ordinary townsfolk because they weren't evil.

If you're wondering where they are, remember that the blues (or whatever they are called) had already been replaced by the Elite Guard due to Goblinslayer's orders, on the pretense of the goblin "invasion".

Just wondering whether or not that was a Red Herring. Seriously, though, any remaining Elite Mooks are probably going to get their pay docked after this fiasco.

If it weren't for the "one comic per week" update schedule, we'd have gotten through this a lot faster. I'm just going with the flow. It bums me out that Kin is getting left behind, but Goblins does not pull any punches — Anyone Can Die for realz.

And now there's going to be the chase scene. I like this but the update schedule makes this seem like it's waaay longer than it actually is.

Every time. Every single time. I should be expecting this by now, but god-dammit, I was attached to that character. Again. I didn't care about Yala or the ogre, and I'm not even sure if some of the other guys with speaking parts have names, but I liked Kin.

Thunt... Thunt is too good at this game. He creates likable characters so easily he can afford to throw them away by the dozens.

Huh. My solution would've been to just summon him (not intentionally, but it'd happen on accident eventually) and not ask him a question. He won't go away until he answers a question and saying his name while he's present doesn't do anything. Carefully including the name of the person you're talking to before every question would be a lot easier than avoiding the word "no" in casual conversation. Plus, you'd still safely be able to answer two questions over the course of the dungeon (not three, because resummoning him after the third is pretty inevitable).

His solution is safer, I'll admit, but it does deny them a second free question about the dungeon, and I'm not sure what he would've done if the answer to question number three was "no". On the other hand, his solution is more violent than my solution, and a happy lizardman is a productive lizardman.

Also, clearly he's scared of Fox because she has cooties. Also, clearly I'm overusing pronouns because I sure as hell can't spell his name.

I was honestly distracted by Noe's Alien Blood. I thought he was some sort of animated statue, but all of a sudden he was full of non-toxic edible green slime?

Okay, so we're back to Minmax and Forgath, who've apparently made it to Brassmoon. Minmax is again proving that he is Too Dumb to Live.

Second, there's a new Tempts Fate adventure, which is looking to be rather... unique. One thing it highlights is just how many people donate to Goblins. I'm actually very impressed.

Third, the new site layout is an improvement, but it's still very — I guess "big" is the word I'm looking for. The ads are less intrusive, which is good.

I am rudely replying to myself to add that I am extremely embarassed not to have gotten the reference in the latest Tempts Fate. If you want it spoiled, see Thunt's Twitter feed on the main page.

Because Thunt really sucks at designing his own website. And at keeping it up to date. I had to manually edit the url from a previous tempts fate just to get here, because I can't even find a way there from the front page anymore and it's certainly not on the TF page.

Is it me, or does Thunt's site look like it's been getting worse recently, design wise?

Okay, with a bit of programming skill, I solved the cipher on the door puzzle for Tempts Fate 9 (yes, I know it's overkill, but I really didn't feel like solving it by hand), but there's still a trick because the obvious answer to the riddle is explicitly stated as incorrect on the page.

Now I wish I'd kept copies of my old AD&D sourcebooks around. Oh, well - I guess I'm not going to be one of the ones contributing a correct solution.

What's really funny is when I tried to Google the solution to the riddle, literally the third hit was someone asking for the solution to this very riddle on Yahoo! Answers.

They didn't get it right, either, but it means there are not only a lot of Goblins fans out there, but a large subset of them are fairly decent at solving ciphers.

Edit: I had another thought... I know Tempts Fate breaks the fourth wall and metagames, but it still strikes me as humorously absurd to have him presented with a puzzle like this in game, as it were. I look forward to seeing how he "solves" it.

Been a while so I'll kick this thread up again.

Aaaaaand, it seems that Minmax and Forgath are going to hook up with Dellyn Goblinslayer. Maybe. I'll be curious to see what's become of him after being publicly and privately humiliated by Thaco.

New page. Back to Dies's party... or should I say, Saves a Fox's party! Heh, it didn't even occur to me that she might already have character levels, though I didn't discount the possibility that she would later. I guess that it makes sense given her "Screw destiny" outlook.

I wonder what class. I'm gonna go with "rogue", even though all the theories in which Dies has/would pick up character levels placed him as the party rogue.

I was thinking about posting about that when the page went up, but I hate posting after myself. Saves-A-Fox definitely has some roguish qualities, but I wouldn't put it past her to have gone for sorcerer or even monk.

I dunno, after the way it was shown in the first arc I kinda liked the dynamic where none of the protagonists got any arcane magic. This isn't a story about a balanced party of heroes conquering dungeons and slaying foes; the protagonists are stuck with a mishmash of the best that's available to them and are always two steps from dead. Having a gaping hole in the usual "balanced party" dynamic makes sense for this story.

Meh, they should just toughen up and deal with it, adventuring levels are not inherently bad, and provide so much good for the goblins!

Courtesy link. I don't know; I find the inversion of Fantastic Racism quite interesting. The nonhuman species have been at war for generations with adventurers who kill them for XP. They've had it drilled into them as a society that anyone with adventurer levels is BAD, so there's a massive prejudice against them.

In my mind, it's very similar to the Deconstruction of Always Chaotic Evil used in Order Of The Stick, although in the latter case it prompts the humanoids to go on a crusade against the gods themselves for equality.

Just got up to date on this comic: love it. My one problem is that it's kind of difficult (for me, at least) to figure out what's going on in the fight scenes, which is going to be a problem in a Dn D comic.

Also, ironically, I think Thunt did too good a job of making the Brassmoon story arc emotionally compelling. Good as Dies' plotline is, I just kept waiting for our heroes to rescue Fumbles.

Now I'm looking forward to the not-so-subtly hinted return of Dellyn. He's one of the most frightening and realistically sadistic villains I've seen in quite some time.
