^^ Higurashi? And as it was said, Chaos;Head. Neither of these have sex scenes.
I usually enjoy a Visual Novel the most if I didn't see an anime adaption yet. If I saw it, the plot is too slow, and the few extra scenes are not enough to grab my interest.

First IJA and now this?
Fast Eddie is some sort of wish-granting genie.
I've been looking to get into these for a long time, but don't know where to start. (Incidentally, we were talking about Visual Novels in English class today.)
edit: Oh wait, no we weren't. Brainfart.

Also Known as Spain SunHigurashi is also, well, um◊.

Replacement with non-wtf fanart, you mean? I may need to investigate that...
I haven't been able to play any since switching to Linux, since nobody has the haxx0r cred to make VNs for Linux. Curses
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.Not fanart, better official art from the PS 2 version, hacked into the PC version.
You'll find it difficult to get a good VN that has no porn at all. The Infinity series, with Ever 17 and Remember 11 (it's not out quite yet) don't have any adult content. Clannad doesn't either.
As for why I don't like Chaos Head... that's because the main character is incredibly annoying until the very end. Spineless, isn't funny etc. It also takes what could have been a really cool premise and barely uses at all. Like those swords. They never really do anything with them. But despite all my problems with it (trust me, there are more) I was able to put up with it until it's about 95% through the story and suddenly cool things are happening. Then the story is over. Why.
The main character being annoying is pretty much the point. Trust me, I wanted to strange the fucker. It's like Lolita.
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.I know it's the point. But they carry it on for too long. When the story is told entirely from one perspective, and that perspective is lodged in someone's ass, I'm not going to enjoy it too much. The actual interesting characters rarely appear. Yes, it gave him room for character development, but they spent too much time getting there.
I'm not sure how I feel about Higurashi's PS 2 artwork. On the one hand it doesn't look like complete shit on the other it...doesn't look like complete shit. Something about the horrors of the PC version's art is...charming.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahI think you've been exposed to too much ZUN art, Aon.
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.@Arha: Fair enough, then.
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.I like the Higurashi art, though I did change it when the plot got serious.
Also, holy crap Visual Novels have a forum now. I am happy.
I write pretty good fanfiction, sometimes.Okay, so, this is a question that's been bothering me for a while.
First of all, keep in mind that I'm pretty ignorant of V Ns. I only really discovered their existence earlier this year. I'd kinda like to experience one some time *, but I feel like the fact that I can't torrent anything now that I'm at college means I'm gonna have to wait a few weeks, when I go home, to download any.
All that said, how the fuck does one experience this media? Do you play it? Do you read it? What?
"I can't imagine what Hell will have in store, but I know when I'm there, I won't wander anymore."What, are you grasping for a verb?
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.Well, I use "play", but I don't think that it's that important.
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.Edit: Misunderstood. My natural inclination is to say 'play' but 'read' is more correct.

I read that and thought "A VN WITH ANTHROPOMORPHIC TRAINS!?!? THAT SOUNDS BADASS!!!" and then I reread it and went "Oh...I misread it...I am sad Aondeug".
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahOkay, thanks guys.
So, what would be a good one to start with, I guess? And can I get it without a torrent?
Aon, I'm not sure how you could've misread my post that way, but I'm really eager to find out because I kinda wish I had said that because that sounds kinda awesome.

"I can't imagine what Hell will have in store, but I know when I'm there, I won't wander anymore."This is such a niche thing that the answer is almost certainly "no" regardless of which you're talking about.
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.Well, I can always remember which ones sounded good and then torrent them when I get home.
"I can't imagine what Hell will have in store, but I know when I'm there, I won't wander anymore."So how does Persona 3 & 4 style go over with everyone? Closest thing to a VN I have ever played

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!^^ I think Higurashi has all the files uploaded with the above mentioned art upgrade, so until it is taken down, you can get it from rapidshare or megaupload.
Or is it just the art pack? I can't remember.

Unfortunately, visual novels are generally what companies (and hell, doujin groups) make when they don't have much money, and porn is quick money.
