Greetings. This is the thread for requesting assistance with recovering a TV Tropes account for which you have forgotten the password.
Before posting here, please note that Get Known has a comprehensive set of instructions for managing your account. To summarize, password resets are limited as follows:
- If you have an associated email address, use the Lost Password link on the login screen to request a reset email. If that doesn't work, post here.
- If you do not have an associated email address but you are still logged in, you can register an email address and use it for recovering your password.
- If you do not have an associated email address, and have not used your previous account since September 18, 2013, we cannot verify your ownership for technical reasons.
- To verify ownership without an email address, and if you have used your previous account recently, you should be logged in on the same computer and/or Internet connection that you most recently edited or posted from.
- It is not currently possible for moderators to reset your password or change your registered email address. As a last resort, you may use our contact form
to send a message to "The Staff".

Please reset my password, I'm currently logged in fine on my desktop, but I can't log in on my phone with the most recent password in my email.

I had a fumble while changing my old password the other night (account: salmondance) - Last Pass didn't properly save the new randomly generated password, and now I'm locked out as it doesn't seem to be associated with either of my email accounts.
This is the computer/location I've always used my account from IIRC. I appreciate any assistance.

Looks like you were able to log into your old account as recently as yesterday, although for some reason you're on an IPv6 address now when you were on IPv4 previously. I suspect our IP log doesn't trigger on logins, but only edits/posts. Regardless, I have reset 'salmondance'. You will need to re-register that account immediately and provide a new password.

I have been having problems with my password. The website doesn't accept them and its gotten to the point where every time I've timed out I've either had to reset or simply use temporary passwords since its pointless to create a permanent one because the system won't remember and accept it. And the problem is on the website. Since it worked before and suddenly broke down one day.
Hello. This is embarrassing.
This is an old alt account I made several years ago. My main account is {{tropers/eldritchseer}}. A while ago I changed my password for some no doubt hair-brained reason and am locked out of that account now because of it.
The issue is this account is associated with my gmail address for whatever reason. My main troper account is associated with an email that doesn't exist since it's a typo of my main gmail, which is associated with this account. I would desperately appreciate a password reset of the main eldritchseer account and I intend to delete this account and put my main gmail onto the eldritchseer account following this.
If this seems fishy or you require further evidence, I have several posters who participate on this site who can vouch for my authenticity.

Well, this is embarrassing. I need my password reset for Dark Soldier again. The e-mail address hasn't changed (same one with this alt account). I should write it down somewhere this time.
Well, turns out there was some sort of application conflict between Firefox and AVG that caused Firefox to "forget" its saved logins. I just did the fix and I've got them all back, including this one.

ryg here. Just changed my password to a stronger (random) one but new password didn't get saved right in my password manager for whatever reason so now I'm (currently) logged in but with a freshly set random password I don't know. I tried the "lost password" form first but it times out.
Ping? :) I'm still logged in on my laptop, but when that cookie expires I expect I'll be locked out permanently, and the "lost password" form still isn't working. (The server it sends the request to doesn't seem to be responding.)

Another ping! Still logged in on my laptop, the "lost password" form still isn't working, and I still need a reset.
My password appears to have been forgotten, please pm me with the new password if it’s changed.

For some reason I can't access my old account. Whenever I enter my password the site just refreshes. I tried using "forgot my password" but when I use a new password the site says it's wrong (and the old one still just refreshes the page)

Without knowing the name of your old account, we can't do anything for you, but we probably can't help you anyway since the account reset feature is currently broken. It's on the short list of tech fixes to get delivered, so hang out for now.

Hi, desperate for help rn. I signed up with Facebook but I’ve basically been locked out that Facebook account (email got deleted) and I’m worried I won’t be able to sign in using Facebook on here now, thought thankfully I’m still logged in.
But I really hope there’s a way you can turn a Facebook account into a normal email account? Which is what I want to do for this account. I’m really sorry if there’s a settings page I’ve just missed or if there’s a guide to this somewhere else, I’m just really stressed out about this. All I’ve seen is change password but when I clicked on that my phone froze. (Yep. Stuck on mobile, I can’t use tv tropes on my computer)

I'm not familiar with the process of managing a TV Tropes account that is linked to a Facebook account, but you can change your registered email from your profile page. You can log in either with your Facebook ID or with your username/password, so as long as you maintain those you should be fine.

Can I double-check whether the account reset feature is still broken? For some reason the site refused to accept my password today from my computer (email and password entered correctly), so I was forced to reset, but the reset password didn't take.
Oddly, I had no trouble logging in on my mobile with my old password, and it recognised the reset password as well. So, it was recognising two passwords at the same time on my mobile and no passwords on my computer.
Anyway, I changed the password on my mobile, and everything's working again now. A little weird, but I wanted to make sure it was just part of the reset issue before I report a bug that's already known about.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.
