Greetings. This is the thread for requesting assistance with recovering a TV Tropes account for which you have forgotten the password.
Before posting here, please note that Get Known has a comprehensive set of instructions for managing your account. To summarize, password resets are limited as follows:
- If you have an associated email address, use the Lost Password link on the login screen to request a reset email. If that doesn't work, post here.
- If you do not have an associated email address but you are still logged in, you can register an email address and use it for recovering your password.
- If you do not have an associated email address, and have not used your previous account since September 18, 2013, we cannot verify your ownership for technical reasons.
- To verify ownership without an email address, and if you have used your previous account recently, you should be logged in on the same computer and/or Internet connection that you most recently edited or posted from.
- It is not currently possible for moderators to reset your password or change your registered email address. As a last resort, you may use our contact form
to send a message to "The Staff".

Greetings. Some time ago I created Slashes-With-Claws and unfortunately lost the cookie. Also, stupidly, forgot the password as I never had to type it thanks to the cookie. I would appreciate it if someone could fix that for me.

My usual handle is Ano Sa and for some reason my cookie went away & it refuses to what I had been sure had been my password. (It will, however, accept the password I use for my alternate/backup handle; I don't know why.) Reset please?

Hi, I was originally Dark Insanity 13, but I've been working from a new laptop recently and I haven't had the chance to copy all my cookies over from my old computer, and alas, I can't seem to remember my password.
I would also like to suggest a general account for those who have lost their passwords if possible, instead of each user creating a new account that's never used again. Just a suggestion though; I realize the idea probably has a lot of flaws in it, and not that many people seem to lose their passwords. Still, I figured I'd throw it out there.
Dark Insanity 13 has been reset. Will have to think about that "general" account idea. It doesn't come up that much.

Perhaps it could just be that people who have forgotten their password are directed to post in this thread, and this thread could have a special mechanism to allow anonymous posts. Or a page could be set up for password reset requests.
