In my opinion, good movie, but the fact that they keep Salt's motives a mystery so much of the time makes it nigh-impossible to really get a feel for her as a character. The suspense and action are all great, but it's missing the human touch.

On the other hand, it's got Angelina Jolie dying her hair.

I thought it was meh. It really bugged me how there were about two competent people in the entire movie- Salt and the guy who almost launches the nukes. I mean, really, people! You let her get out of a car, while she's handcuffed and you surround her on both sides. How?! Furthermore, not only are people incompetent physically, they're incompetent mentally as well. You've got people going "wait, don't shoot" in regards to Salt in the beginning. Just fucking shoot her! Jesus Christ, she's running around rampant, in your base, killing your doodz. Just kill her! And the ending. The ending was fueled by idiocy.

But there was Angelina Jolie and big explosions, so it's ok.

Wasn't the guy yelling "don't shoot" the other deep cover mole, who had a very valid reason for wanting her to escape alive?

^ That wasn't the only case- you've got the other agent (forgot his name) pointing a gun at her- they have her cornered - and he's just saying "don't make me do this" over and over again, while Salt isn't even giving him a good reason not to do it.

Bit of Fridge Logic as well- why the hell did Orlov expose Salt?

Umm, isn't not shooting someone who isn't, at the moment, trying to hurt you or someone else pretty basic law enforcement code of conduct?

^ Screw, now I'm getting scenes mixed up.

Anyways, regardless of that topic (no, I'm not trying to change the subject to cover up my idiocy, what are you talking about?) I definitely agree that not exploring Salt's motives was a mistake. One hour into the film and I have no idea why I should root for this person because I honestly have no idea why she's doing anything.

well.. for me the movie blew it at a very early stage when jolie was 'interrogating' orlov and her "co-workers" are listening/background checking in the next room.

if i am not completely mistaken, the black secret service guy (forgot the name, sorry) went from "that's bull***t , he's crazy, that 'program' he's talking about is a myth" to "OMFG i am so totally going to believe him" within 10 seconds

This film was alright, but there is a massive plothole at the end. Chiwitel Ejiofor's character Peabody (I had to look up his name, was it even mentioned in the movie?) and Salt are talking in the helicopter as if there's no proof for her story, but unless I'm massively mistaken, the US president wasn't dead at the end. He could have backed up Salt's story, since he saw Liev Schrieber shoot up the bunker and was threatened by him.

I didn't watch this movie for "human touch" or logic. I watched it to see Angelina Jolie being Bad Ass, and it delivered.

Most Western movies that try to to use a Russian setting/characters are Dan Browned for people who actually live in Russia but Salt was just... insanely stupid that way.
