Yes, it is. In Finnish culture, pride is considered an ugly thing, at least if it goes too far. Our genuine reactions to some things might come off as false humility to members of other cultures. That said, we're very proud of the society we have, as anyone who's seen my posts in OTC can tell.

Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur. The Finnish have no need of vainglorious pride. The rest of the world is too terrified of their guardian spirit to even consider fucking with them.
With cannon shot and gun blast smash the alien. With laser beam and searing plasma scatter the alien to the stars.yay, there are more than just one troper from the Netherlands here!
well, technically, I am German. but I never lived there. I speak German just as good as Dutch, though.
english... not that good, sorry.
french... even worse. had it for three years in school. dropped it as soon as I could.
Oi. European West Coast Native here.
The Great Northern Threadkill.Ave.
Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.Looks like I'm the only Dane here... However, there is a few people from the rest of Scandinavia here.
I'm glad that there are Danes and Norwegians here. More people for me to unite with - against Sweden, of course.
Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.so no Hungarians, then? figures.
also, hi, fellow Pratchett fan! we even have matching Dog Latin titles, awesome!
please don't capitalize my handle. I just don't like it.Amongst the Scandinavians, there does seem to be a disproportionate number of Finns, although a couple of the tropers I'm thinking of have either left or haven't posted in a long time.
With cannon shot and gun blast smash the alien. With laser beam and searing plasma scatter the alien to the stars.Another Dane here...
There doesn't seem to be any Swedes to unite against, though...
I’ve always had to struggle and fight and that’s made me strong. It’s made me who I am.That means we're doing it right!
EDIT: ...oh wow, not looking at the timestamps. This thread is quiet.

Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia!I only approve of unification of Europe if I do it in strategy games by force. I'm skeptical about prospect of Europe as super state in real life. Screw Brussels and their silly regulations!
My President is Funny Valentine. It seems I'm the only irish troper...
'All shall love me and despar!'Finn here.
I'm most active Polish troper that openly acknowledges his origins, it seems.

My President is Funny Valentine.I've seen a handful of handles, but they tend to drop off, lurk, stick to specific parts of the forum, or otherwise remain below the radar.
"Atheism is the religion whose followers are easiest to troll"I think others might be active in specific area, but I'm such a whore that attend nearly all sections to certain extent, or at least lurk there if I have nothing to say XD

My President is Funny Valentine.Hi! The Portuguese guy is here (if there's any other guy or girl from my place, say it!).
More importantly, I can tell you all about how f*ck*d up the Portuguese people are.
Ask me questions, if you want to know something about me and my country.
The reason a poster asked "does the UK count?" is our attitude of With Europe But Not Of It. And yes, that does need to be moved to Useful Notes.
Keeper of The Celestial FlameApparently you all wanted a Swedish troper to unite against or something? I seem to be relatively alone on these forums but atleast it's something.

Since you're Swedish, I need to make the obvious question:
How deadly is surströmming?
So many Northerners here :(
Nothing wrong with that, on its own, but it seems that the only Southies here are me & Quag.
Anyhow, hello from Greece.
It is sometimes an appropriate response to reality to go insane.I don't know, I would never eat that poison!
Fair enough. I hope I won't get to experience the peculiar...aroma it has.
I remember seeing a Spanish troper in a couple of OTC threads.

That's....very humbling of you. I remember someone saying Finnish people in general are self humbling and understating their talents - is that true in your opinion?
