It's been 20 years since the reveal of Twilight Princess.

I didn't know about the reveal of TP until July, since I had no Internet back then and I only knew about the upcoming game via a Mexican magazine, which also included an interview they did with Eiji Aonuma. Good times.

Yesterday was also the first anniversary of TOTK's release. [tup]

I was barely three years old when the game was announced. I just remember finding a copy in our house (I often cribbed games from my older brother). I remember getting stuck at the second twilight section because it took me a while to realize I could jump through Barnes' window. I'd just replay the game upto that point repeatedly. To this day Twilight Princess is my favorite "traditional" Zelda game, though the Wild Sage ultimately beats it.

The tear of light that took me the longest to find was the one in Castle Town, as it was the most far away. And when I knew where it was, I had to figure out how to return there. I admit it was my least favorite tear hunt in the game, though the fight against the Insect Queen was decent.

Is it true that the HD remake reduced the number of Tears of Light? I gotta ask.. Does that actually help? You've still gotta explore pretty much the entire regions as Wolfey to get them all, don't you?

From what I've read, it just reduced the redundant bugs (for example, there is one where two used to be found), so it appears to be a superfluous change.

The hype cycle for Twilight Princess was unreal. My cousin and I beat Ocarina of Time together over the course of many weekends when we were kids, and when they announced Twilight Princess we emailed each other every picture, trailer and scrap of info we could find on it. Crazy days!

The best part is, the game totally lived up to the hype. 10/10 Zelda adventure. It remains my third favorite game in the series, after Ocarina and Wind Waker. I can't believe there's never been another one like it.

As for the HD remake, in addition to cutting back the Tears of Light, it also adds the Ghost Lantern item that makes the Poe hunt much less annoying. And the graphical upgrade is more substantial than the internet would have you think. If you have a Wii U, there's no reason not to buy it.

Looking back at Twilight Princess and the secret techniques, I think I would have preferred an evolution of that to what we got in Breath of the Wild.

Less overall weapons but more things you can do with each weapon. That would have been a better incentive to try out different things than "oops, your sword broke, guess you'd better go scavenge for a new one".

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. When Aonuma goes, "Look, we made a nice, linear, story-driven Zelda again," it'll be a smash. Kind of like how people lost their minds when Nintendo said Mario Odyssey would be a sandbox-style game like Mario 64 and Sunshine.

Ditto 2D Zelda, although I suppose there's every chance they combine the two. 3D games "open-air," 2D games are linear and story-driven. Not ideal, but better than what we have now.

I hear that Masterworks book is supposed to have an updated timeline including Tears of the Kingdom, so I guess we'll probably be getting a proper answer on how TotK's backstory slots in with the rest of the series soon enough.

I'm guessing it will just be Rauru's time as after Skyward Sword but before the Minish Cap and Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom remaining in the indeterminate future.

I forget if I posted it here, but I believe in a merged timeline which caused a cyclic history.

In Skyward Sword, Zelda goes into the past, and seals herself away to also seal away Demise/the Imprisoned. In the present, the Imprisoned is defeated, and Zelda wake sup, before she gets brought back to the past and used to resurrect past Demise, but he gets defeated. Zelda from the present returns to the present, but, with no Demise in the past, what happens to the other Zelda who was supposed to sleep for thousands of years?

Finished the Endless Night map in Hyrule Warriors. A-ranked every square and found all the goodies, except maybe some fairy food. Surprised Medli didn't get any costumes.

Still thinking about a hypothetical sequel. Had an idea for Yeto as a playable fighter. His weapon would be a water-type fishing rod, and each tier would have a different fish on the line (Hyrule Bass > Reekfish > Hyrule Loach). His strong attack is throwing a big pot of pumpkin soup that gets more powerful as you pick up more goodies like hearts and materials.

His dash animation would involve snowboarding, and of course, his Focus Spirit attack summons Blizzeta.

Man, now I'm sad this isn't real. sad

Medli gets no costumes because she was just a piece of free DLC back in Legends.

It is a bit weird, since Cia, Volga, and Wizzro got costumes back on the Wii U despite being free DLC as well.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!
