Could the term "waggle" be kept as a redirect, if the trope itself is going to be removed?
^ Redirect to... Wii?
Helpful Scripts and Stylesheets here. No, because that would just invite the haters to use it, just as would putting "RROD" as a redirect for the 360, or whatever derogatory term is in vogue for the PS3.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.^ Right, so what should Waggle redirect to then? Unless we bother with a page for Motion Control, I'm not quiet sure what.
Helpful Scripts and Stylesheets here. Why should we have it? It's just a hater term used to put down something they don't like. It is. If it was about constructive criticism of the control, the term wouldn't have become a way to put down the Wii entire.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. There a few PS 3 games with badly implemented sixaxis control since Sony shoehorned that in at the last minute. It's not a Wii only thing.
Even something old like the Nintendo Power Glove would qualify.
Just cut it. There is already a big motion control hatedom, who believe that motion controlls = waggle, and waggle=the death of gaming.
There are also Wii fans who already get filled with Nerd Rage from merely seeing the word, as they got used to seeing it from haters.
It's just flamebait.
A trope about Motion Controls we don't need, a motion control centric console already covers half of the current generational console market. It's practically universal.

De gustibus non est disputandum.^ I'd argue that not even the Analogue Stick is universal yet, but that's another story.
In any case, I was just trying to figure out what English Ivy wanted from the title. I don't have any particular love for the name or article.
Helpful Scripts and Stylesheets here.As per How to Fix a Trope, item #2, added a TRS tag on the page.
"Kill it if it's just stealth Complaining About The Wii. "
And complaining about the DS, by the examples.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Actually looking at the page now...
Kill it. It hurts to read.
Helpful Scripts and Stylesheets here.Button Mashing also has a lot of complaining in the description, btw.
BTW, I'm a chick.Nthing the cut.
Yeah, nuke it. To be honest, I don't think it's even stealth complaining about the Wii, what with the name and all.
I have a message from another time...It's "motion control, Only Bad". Cut.
Waggle? I thought that was a joke about the infamous female-draenei-hip-tail-counterpoint.
There's a few good examples in there, but most of it is just Complaining About Motion Control you don't like.
Cut it and move (some of) the examples to Scrappy Mechanic.
It is an existing term from fandom. Not a cut candidate. We can zap examples and make the description less snide, but the title is on-mission.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyYeah, make it like that. BTW, was a page for just, plain motion controls made?
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. Why don't we just make an all-systems page for Bad Controls and toss everything from Waggle and Button Mashing into there?
Accidental mistakes are forgivable, intentional ones are not.Eddie's point was the pages as fan terms. Besides, just doing game controls Done Badly has its own problems.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.
I think this should be expanded to when an hardware feature is used even when it's not desirable
Example: All the FMV games that popped up on the Sega CD. The limited color-palete mean the videos were just a blurry mess and the games were innherently awful with bad production values and limited gameplay, but there was much hype extra space provided by the CD medium, and so developers made something to show it off even when it wasn't desirable. Just like how the current trope is about how Motion Control is half-assedly forced into games that don't need it because it's an "hype" feature.
You are correct. This was the intended point of this trope. Anyone who thinks it's just flaming the Wii didn't read the examples that were actually there, only looked at the title, and got upset.
It is NOT just motion controls done badly. As the Lacon page says, Waggle is a hardware feature included clumsily or in a genre that doesn't need it, and can include poor use of:
- System camera
- System mic
- Motion controls
- Touchscreens
Basically any interface function in a game that it doesn't fit or isn't well-implemented.
As the Laconic entry on it says, this is when a developer sees the system has a mic and decides to put a singing minigame into an FPS. Or when they see the system has a game that requires delicate and precise movement and decides to make the interface clumsy motion controls. Or when a dev sees the system has a camera and decides the system should take constant photographs of you playing that doesn't affect the game at all - etc. etc.

This post was thumped by the Eldritch Flyswatter of Horror
But you forget Done Badly by itself is a bad definition. Either it goes to motion controls, while being neutral, or it expands to all controls done badly.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.
