The inverse of the The Trope Mashup Thread. One troper writes down their own story and the next troper must type down the tropes they think that story uses, before typing their own story for the next troper to dissect. The stories and tropes can be as long or short as possible.

To Start:

Markus and Andy were the best of friends who wanted to be superheroes, but they both lacked powers. This all changes when they're 16, with Markus discovering that he has the strength, speed, flight, and invulnerability of a standard superhero, while Andy becomes the disciple of a hero and gains a high-tech suit of armor. The two manage to attend the Superhero Academy and become classmates, each proving themselves to be the best their class has to offer and forming a competitive, but friendly rivalry. They each find a girlfriend in the academy, Andrea being mutually snippy with Markus while Lily is very supportive and kind with Andy. Andy and Markus however discover a conspiracy when they realize that one of the heroes they looked up to, Captain Magnificent, has actually been turning innocent people into monsters and villains for him to fight, leading the two friends and their classmates to stop him and expose his crimes.

Two 8-year-old children, a tomboyish, energetic, and outgoing girl named April and a shy, introverted boy named Brendan, are the best of friends. April loves playing sports, outdoor activities, and roughhousing, while Brendan loves art, sketching, coloring, and cute animals. April always protected Brendan from bullies, which made Brendan wish he was as brave as her. A mischievous sprite overhears this and decides to twist the wish as a personal joke. She swaps their bodies, forcing the children to adjust to their unusual circumstances, especially since everyone's memories have been made to think that's how April and Brendan usually are. Despite their attempts to find a way to swap back, Brendan begins to waver on that when he realizes he likes being a girl but can't bring himself to tell April, so the sprite decides to fix that by erasing Brendan's memories and making him think he is April. Unable to convince Brendan of what's going on, April reluctantly decides to act as Brendan until she can find a way to fix things.

Eight years later, April and Brendan are living the other's life, albeit unknowingly in the latter's case. April has become a good sports player in gym class, while Brendan (as April) becomes the best student in art class. Both are very popular are among the students, though "April" only has a crush on "Brendan" while the latter is trying to find a way get her friend's memory back and undo the body swap.

An old man is taking a walk and says, "I hope it doesn't rain!", but then it does. He walks into the convenience store and finds a woman with a talking dog, but she gets shooed out because there are no pets allowed in the store. The man then asks why the dog can talk, and the woman says, "It's a long story."

For every low there is a high.

Tempting Fate + Talking Animal + No Animals Allowed + It's a Long Story + Lampshade Hanging

A kind boy walks to school when a girl bumps into him. She cheerfully says hello and scolds him for not watching where he's going. When the boy politely points out that she's the one who wasn't paying attention to her surroundings even when he called out to her and she bumped into him, she hypocritically tells him to take responsibility and he owes her an apology. This demonstrates the girl has a kind personality on the surface but has some serious inculpability issues that will become important later. When the boy is framed for stealing charity money, the girl blames him without even once giving him the benefit of the doubt. When the real culprit is revealed, the girl cheerfully acts like she did nothing wrong and doesn't apologize to the boy, something that the boy calls her out on. When the girl tries to retort that she was tricked, the boy tells her that she chose to believe in circumstantial evidence and accuse him without giving him the benefit of the doubt. Because of this, the girl is taken to detention even when she keeps insisting that she didn't do anything wrong.
