I'm trying to figure out if it's plausible to put domestic chickens in a setting inspired by the Americas. The setting is fantasy, but all wildlife is based in the real-world Americas - my problem now is that chickens were domesticated from red junglefowl, an Asian species.

Anyone know of an American species (north, south, or central) that could've been domesticated into a species similar to chickens?

They could have bred down the Turkey, I suppose.
