I am very excited for this movie. Shudder originals (with this, Stopmotion, The Angry Black Girl And Her Monster) have carved out a place for experimental horror as of late. It’s genuinely great to see and I’m especially excited for this movie with its retro, WNUF Halloween Special-like style.
Everybody loves the me! I’m a great athlete! This does look amazing. I can't wait for it to come out.
You and I remember Budapest very differentlyApparently , the filmmakers used AI art so everyone is writing off the film.
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.AI art in what context?
When you say "everyone", I'm assuming you mean a small vocal minority on places like reddit and X.
Critics have already been largely positive about the film, and your average film goer doesn't really care about AI being used unless it makes things look bad.
Given that the filmmakers have mentioned they have about three total AI created (and then further edited by people) images...I doubt most people who watch will care at all.
They talk about it here https://variety.com/2024/film/news/late-night-with-the-devil-ai-images-clarification-1235947599/

Ah, so it’s Internet Panic. Thank you.
I was using hyperbole.
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.yeah, nothing worth actually paying attention to.
By "X," I assume you mean Twitter?
Anyhow, they used a couple of fugly AI-generated title cards (but I repeat myself), which is indeed incredibly lame and uncool. Any artist on the Internet could've made something much nicer for a couple hundred bucks and saved the filmmakers a lot of embarrassment.
Other than that, this does look dope as hell.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?
Shudder has a new horror film called Late Night with the Devil. It stars David Dastmalchian as a 70s talk show host whose show has a brush with demonic activity.
It’s out on the 22nd. Anyone wanna help me with a draft?
