...Could it risk of being Too Soon?
You can't kill art.I lost a lot of love for the guy’s movies after watching Men (which pro tip: don’t watch with family and friends), but this seems interesting.
I’m sorry, but you have Stage 9 Animes.Because of the approach to the narrative?
You can't kill art.what does that even mean?
New theme music also a boxAre you talking to Lone? Because I don't get it either.
“What is that? It's The Unknown!”yes Im talking to Lone
New theme music also a boxOK, thank you. Yeah, I don't get what they mean by “approach to the narrative”?
“What is that? It's The Unknown!”I have not heard of this movie before and I'm guessing this is basically commentary on America's current political landscape and issues, with Marie Antoinette as one of its leads.
I might consider checking it out because of Dunst but if it's too political for my liking (I avoid politics like the plague), then I'm dipping out.
Victor of HGS S320 | "There's rosemary, that's for remembrance. Pray you, love, remember."I guess what Lone means is that the commentary that Men provides is very non-subtle and patronizing coming from a man.
It's been 3000 years…Yeah, Men to me just felt really preachy and disgusting for the sake of it. And pro tip, never take close family to an A24 movie. I learned the hard way.
I’m sorry, but you have Stage 9 Animes.I liked Men okay, but it's definitely not Garland's best work.
Hopefully this movie will be less divisive… but I’m not getting my hopes up.
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.Bumping with the first trailer.
So, in that time, 19 states seceded and Texas and Cali are somehow part of an alliance...
You can't kill art.The trailer didn't do much to explain what had happened. I kind of expected that.
You and I remember Budapest very differentlyIs it wrong that I thought the term "Florida Alliance" was kinda funny to think about?
Real talk, I saw this on Twitter (still calling it that, get over yourself Elon) and...yeah, this sure is a movie.
Like, have I ever told you guys The Purge scared me because I thought "oh man, what if this actually happens?"
I got that same feeling from here...but it somehow feels even worse than The Purge.

it sounds like the guys who were making game of thrones were beaten to it
New theme music also a boxThis movie has a premise almost as absurd as The Purge
That’s next level shitshow.
All it’s gonna do is enable the people who have Civil War fantasies about shooting Feds
Serms like they are trying to make it detached from contemporary politics as possible so everyone can read the protagonists as representing them.
I get why they want to do that, but it does run the risk of making the premise unbelievable or both siding a modern point of contention that really shouldn't be both sided.
It looks really good. I'm sure Garland will do something interesting with it.
Yeah, the movie seems to focus more on war journalists trying to get to DC to see the possible end of the war and what happens on the way?
I apologize in advance for my part in bringing the “discourse” to this website.
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. From what I saw on Twitter most of the buzz right now seems to be "Why the fuck are Texas and California working together?" since both states are essentially polar opposites politically.
Really that seems to be a deliberate choice on the part of the film; we don't know what started the war, what party the "President" is (we know that he's violated the Constitution and is now in a third term) or what else.
So A24 is putting out a new movie from Alex Garland. It’s called Civil War, it stars Kirsten Dunst and Wagner Moura and that’s pretty much the extent of my knowledge. Here’s a poster:
There should be a trailer next week. I’ll bump this thread with it then.
