Coyote Vs Acme

Ok so I know this movie is one of Loony Toons adaptation but I don't know what it was supposed to be about before WB decided to cancel it. Care to explain?

Wile E Coyote hires John Cena as his lawyer to sue the ACME Corporation for their stuff never working. Also, it's not cancelled anymore after the backlash, they're instead looking to sell it to another distributor.

How long do you expect to take for this to be sold?

Cena is the CEO of ACME, Will Forte is Wile E's lawyer.

Oh, gotcha. Still sounds fun, though.

Not sure. It took a few months for Amazon to officially acquire the animated Batman stuff Zaslav tried to toss earlier IIRC. We probably won't get an answer by the end of this year though.

Well, that depends on if you view ACME as the cause of the problem or the Coyote’s foibles being his own fault.

Well it mostly worked for Bumblebee.

David Zaslav tries to explain his decision making while still not making sense.

I like how he tries to say that WB gets no benefit from not releasing a movie.

I guess that's why he tried to have them be tax write-offs then.

So there is currently someone on Twitter saying Amazon bought the movie, is planning a Christmas Day release, AND is looking to purchase not only the whole Looney Tunes catalog, but the whole Hanna Barbera catalog too.

That being said? I have no clue how reliable a source they are. They could be dead wrong or lying for all I know.

I don't think we can expect a Christmas release. The movie only finished filming, they still have to do post-production, which will be definitely important in an animation hybrid like this.

So maybe let's not spread baseless rumors in the future?

It's one thing to speculate, it's another to have to wade through random twitter gossip on a site that is very much not Twitter.

The movie finished filming over a year ago. That's why it was originally slated for release this July.

Oh, I misunderstood then. But there were a few delays even before the "cancellation", so I don't know how much of the movie is in a completed state as of now. But I still don't think it'll release that soon.

Well, like I said the whole thing is almost 100% a pack of lies.

But yeah even if someone were to but it today a Christmas release is likely to be too crowded, streaming or not.

Okay, Amazon has their new for December video up today and the description with timestamps do not mention Coyote Vs Acme…

They do have another big tease for tomorrow, but that’s most likely gonna be Fallout.

I don't mind someone "spreading baseless rumors" when they're open and upfront about A: where it's coming from and B: That they don't know how reliable it is.

I see it as bringing it to the table and coming to the hivemind to ask if we do know if they're a reliable source or not.

This isn't someone repeating something they heard from "We Got This Covered" as the Gospel Truth or repeating the words of one of those "insiders" that's just guessing and obfuscating that fact. If a reader walks away from that post being misinformed then that's on the reader, not the poster.

I would doubt that just from a production standpoint alone; The original release was aimed for July anyway. And then the film's production has been stopped for a month as is.

Studios don't just... complete a film and sit on it for months until release date. They are finishing the movie even days before the official premier. It's kinda rare (but not unheard of) for a film to be moved up in a film release schedule, but usually it's only moved up by maybe a month. It's more common for a movie to get pushed back.

If the film was set for July 2024 and then production lost a month or two of time, I would expect August or September at the earliest. Granted, this again depends on production factors I'm not completely aware of, but I generally understand how the sausage gets made here.

By my understanding, the film WAS completed. Fully. Enough to screen for people.

The original release was for July 2023.

By all reports, the movie is done. As finished as Batgirl was.

So it’s POSSIBLE that we get that Christmas Day release… but it’s not LIKELY. Like I said they do have an announcement in their YouTube tease tomorrow, but the thumbnail makes me think of Fallout and at least one other tweet makes me think it might be the Boys.
