Deadline is covering the story and they say that Derek Connolly (Jurassic World and Detective Pikachu) is going to write: https://deadline.com/2023/11/legend-of-zelda-movie-wes-ball-1235596216/
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.I was actually going to mention the LOTR trilogy because I have in the past seen people point to them as an argument for why a Zelda movie should be live action, and honestly I think LOTR is the exception, not the rule. There are far more great animated fantasy films than live action ones.
Guess the pipe dream of ever getting a Studio Ghibli or Production I.G Zelda movie/show is dead forever.
I'm not optimistic. But hey, I was expecting the Mario movie to suck too and it was pretty solid. Maybe it'll be okay.

Oissu!Really not feeling a live-action film. I'm not saying you can't do fantasy in live-action, that'd be silly (I love the Lot R films and am enjoying the Wo T adaptation, so), but I just don't think it'll fit Zelda, specifically. Feels like it'll lose some of what makes Zelda Zelda.
But I'm willing to be convinced. I found the Mario movie mostly a good time, so... maybe this will at least be a fun watch, too.
/crawls back under rockWo T?
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.I'm more of the mindset that a series or miniseries would be a better fit for Zelda to accommodate the number of characters and settings typically found in the games.
If any brand has to flood the market, let it be the Zelda one. I feel like you could get a live-action film trilogy out while simultaneously doing one or two animated series with varying tones for different audiences. Hell, there's officially at least 4 generations of the characters, so throw in a time machine and you could do a Spider-verse styled crossover.

Yes, I meant Wheel of Time. Sorry, I'm used to shortening it in conversations.
/crawls back under rockIn an amusing case of Hilarious in Hindsight and Promoted Fanboy from Wes Ball in 2010:
Also, I almost forgot he was going to direct that promising Mouse Guard film. Unfortunately, it got killed by the Disney and 20th Century Studios merger, but probably a good framing for his experience with fantasy.
So who we thinking for Ganondorf's actor. I've seen Idris Alba, Ben Mendhelson, and Keith David thrown out.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Depends. They gonna go human or pig monster, you think?
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.Uh think they'll go Ganondorf form probably. It's more iconic at this point.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I feel like Djimon Hounsou definitely needs this sort of main antagonist role.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.Doubt she'd appear in the first film, but if they do sequels, I'd love to see Midna be featured.
With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationx13 I don't think Ghibli has ever done anything of a collab work.
Given that the Gerudo are meant to be middle-eastern coded, I'd personally go for an actor of Arab descent to either play or voice him in a bigger budget production.
bah Ganondrof,bah I say!
What we need is an original deal,we need Ganon and we need him to be a beast rather then a man
New theme music also a boxYeah it's weird that Ghibli keeps getting brought up as if they were ever a serious possibility. Ghibli aren't a studio known for adapting video games into feature films...
Still though there are a lot of anime studios whose styles would have fit Zelda that actually could have collaborated with Nintendo. Or western animation studios that could have done it justice. Hell, if they'd stuck with Universal as the distributor they wouldn't have necessarily needed to stick with Illumination, they could have gotten Dreamworks. Or if they were already committed to Sony as the distributor for the Zelda film they could have gotten Sony Pictures Animation. Those are studios that when they're good are really good.
Already, Variety has put out an article listing potential actors to play Link - names like Jacob Tremblay and Justice Smith show up: https://variety.com/lists/link-zelda-movie/
I’ll say this… Josh Giddey from the NBA is certainly an… outside the box choice.

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.Justice Smith being cast would garner a lot of "two nickels" comments, no doubt.

SoundCloudWe can do a TikTok of everyone saying it at once!
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.Everyone keeps saying Tom Holland is gonna be Link and I'm half afraid they're gonna jinx it lmao
Actually Tom Holland as Link would probably work.
"Any campaign world where an orc samurai can leap off a landcruiser to fight a herd of Bulbasaurs will always have my vote of confidence"
Just do Link to the Past.
