My Superhero Legacy

Anna Gaines

"I mean, we will be working together. There's no need to hide our identities from each other. Name's Anna," she says as she shakes Achilles's hand. "You seem pretty excited."

It was then she turned back to the busted-down doors, which she'd previously ignored - after all, if there was an invader she was certain they'd be an idiotic one and thus easily dispatched, otherwise she doubted they'd still be sitting here exchanging air expellations. Indeed, despite her otherworldly nature she was very quickly drowned out amongst the new arrivals. Perhaps that was for the best - gave her a chance to refocus. The last thing she needed was sensory backlash at the orientation.

She noticed another new arrival, a... human... robot... cyborg... armoured... well, from the tone of his voice he sounded either organic or advanced sapience. ...Oh wait, that's clearly a human face, she noticed.

>Greetings, Myrmidon. she broadcasted to him, not bothering to turn her head, so he may have difficulty figuring out where the voice came from.

"Yeah, yeah..." Ryan found himself focusing on what he considered his anchor, then - attempting to keep himself closer to what he was familiar with from his time as an athlete. Namely, going out with cute girls and making himself at home with the guys. It looked like there wasn't quite that kind of sports team membership available here, but there were probably folks like Gil and Maxx that he might fit in with pretty well.

Of course, Tasha encouraging him helped too - bear lady seemed pretty cool. "Thanks, I just hope my next time using my powers things go a bit better than the first time."

And then someone entered who really seemed to be speaking his language so to speak. He seemed to be a robot or cyborg or something - but the language was definitely within Ryan's wheelhouse. So Ryan went ahead to greet him. "Eyy bro, welcome to the party." Ryan instead of shaking Myrmidon's hand went to fist bump him. "You're not exactly the only one new to this. Name's Ryan Brady, Atomix if you want my super name. Sup?"

He then clapped Myrmidon's shoulder.

Gilgamesh

Gilgamesh had mixed feelings on the newcomer. They appreciated his aesthetic. He was dressed as a warrior of old, shield in one hand and trusty spear in the other. Their manner of dress was before their time (or was it after?), but they had that same spirit. But their mingling of the ways of old with those of the future did not appeal to their sense of tradition. Perhaps Gilgamesh themselves was a purist, but it didn't change their lack of interest.

They moved towards Shao Fei, more interested in the monkey girl than the Spartan. They gave her a clap on the shoulder, plopping down in the nearest chair, scretching her legs as she chuckled.

"A most entertaining lot, are they not? They are nothing if not strange, but it would be stranger were they not! Though you do not appear to share their enthusiasm."

Shao Fei

"Maybe it's size accommodation. Maybe there's more of us than we think. Who knows?" Fei shrugged in response to Giph. "Doubt we're the only ones here. They could use this room for other things too. Maybe they throw parties..."

She turned her head towards Gilgamesh upon feeling the clap on her shoulder, watching the elaborately-dressed warrior woman sit beside her and engage her in conversation. Fei smiled a little, nodding in agreement as she finally took her feet off the table and sat up properly to better focus on Gilgamesh. She budged her chair up closer to the table, leaning on it with her elbows as she drummed her fingers against its surface.

The more one observed her, the more one might realise that she was actually near-constantly stimulating herself. Like she had energy ready to burst, just held back from exploding out.

"Oh I'm... excited, just not like them. Just feels like my calling. I'm home already. Don't need to jump around about it," she shrugged, her fiery-golden gaze tracing over Gilgamesh's form intensely as she tried to get a read on the woman. "Once we get some action? I'll be in. For now, I'm just... saving energy. Besides, I'd just be adding noise to a noisy room. I'm letting 'em have their fun."

She grinned a little, giving Gilgamesh a quick wink as she then glanced over at the others.

"'Sides, I like playing games. Like 'Surprise.' I'm holding my cards, just... not letting anyone see just yet. You'll see it soon! I'm just biding my time, that's all."

She looked around, before her gaze settled on Tasha, and she nodded to her and pointed her out to Gilgamesh.

"See her? She gets it. Same sorta thing. Except you can tell just from looking at her. I like hiding. It's more fun. Heh...~"

The young man just kept looking at most of the people like they were crazy, and it bunch of weirdos, but eh, this career brings some colorful individuals. At least he didn't look too out of place, he guessed.

So, with not much to lose, he simply spoke.

"What a crew, huh?" He said "Might as well get this out of the way. I am Kyle Sinclair, the fourth Night Chaser, guess you are stuck with me for now" Well, that's a first impression, but beats showing off too much and cause trouble.

At the doors being broken down and flung across the room, Maxx instinctively raises an arm in defense and turns to look at the source. When he sees that the cause of the noise is a lady bounding straight out of the roaring twenties with music to match, he can't help but be impressed - though he doesn't let his face show it. Is she rich enough to get away with all that, or just confident and/or stupid enough to not care?

After that brief distraction, Maxx turns his attention to the other supers greeting him. He can't deny that there's a lot more... variety than he was expecting, but he was expecting the unexpected - so it doesn't count. He briefly acknowledges each one, telling the alien in particular, "You're allowed to use my first name, you know. It's Maxx."

Then, Maxx turns to one big plant person that caught his eye. "Yo. Seymour, right? So what's your deal? Did you eat too much lettuce as a kid, or what?"

There was a whistling ringing in the halls of the tower, as in walked Gunslinger V, whistling a jaunty tune to himself about the spurs that jingle jangle. Hands tucked behind his head as he outright strutted in, headphones in his ears, a big smile on his face.

Vance behind the mask was glad to be here, none of the Gunslingers had ever made into the Saints Foundation before, so this was big for him. If only Vlad could see him now..

Seymour Greene

Seymour was briefly caught off-guard by Maxx's question, but quickly regained composure.

"Well, I wasn't always like this. I was once a human, like you! But I volunteered for some kinda regenerative serum experiment, that turned me into this."

Seymour gestured to himself, but then flashes a grin.

"I quite like this new look, plus I can do this."

Seymour then began to whip his arm downwards, then swung it upwards, with said arm elongating a fair amount before snapping back to normal.

"Pretty neat, huh?"

Gilgamesh

The first thing Fei would see was a golden glow. It shined bright, surrounding Gilgamesh's massive body in a burning blaze. It was strong and proud, old and worn. Bold ferocity tinged with clarity and wisdom. They had seen much, but they had endured. It ran free, no concern for the shape of their vessel. Those such as they were beyond such things. For a moment it shook and wavered, out of synch with this new millenium. But it stood firm. Everything she saw was hers, but she did not need to possess it to make it so. The world was her kingdom and that knowledge alone gave her strength.

"Yes, I could tell! She too piques my curiosity. Though I see no need to contain myself. To do anything else would be nothing short of a gross disservice. If the world is not fit to withstand the fullest extent of my noble glory, it is their loss. But I will not force my lofty standards upon those who know me not. I look forward to seeing you unshackled and unchained! It should prove to be an occasion most memorable!"

Akiyama Kozakura - Personal Space

The young woman Tae-hyun approached paused for a second, as if something was amiss. Raising her gaze to meet his, Tae-hyun could see an overcast expression in Kozakura's cloud grey eye... the other closed beneath a burn extending from her ear to the bridge of her nose. She took a moment to bite into a cheese and cracker before responding.

"...no." There were a few seconds of pause, Kozakura breaking eye contact to stare at her appetizer, before she looked back at him. "...it's too busy for me, and I'm here more out of obligation than desire." She furrowed her brow, glancing at her half eaten cracker before putting it down on her plate and setting her plate beside her on the bench. "Not every hero likes a crowd, and I'm not ready to meet so many people. Sorry."

Yet another long pause, punctuated by Kozakura staring at Tae-hyun's face in contemplation. "...if you wanted to speak to me by yourself though, I would be more open to it. I suppose."

Tae-hyun

Tae-hyun blinked, brow furrowing in confusion. "But why would you be here if you didn't wanna be here?" He floated next to her, head tilted. "Wouldn't that just make you misera—"

Whatever he was going to say was cut off when he suddenly landed face-first on the floor with a rather loud smack.

"..."

Tae-hyun scrambled to his feet. "I'm still learning," he admitted. "But I'm happy to talk! My real name's Tae-hyun, what's yours?" He stuck out his hand for a handshake, smiling ear-to-ear.

Maxx watches the movement of Seymour's hand, getting slightly startled at just how far his arm extends. "Seems like you don'thave any problem reaching the top shelf," he comments, secretly a little envious.

After a moment, Maxx says "Doesn't it feel like most of the people here have some kind of superhero lineage or something? At least, the interesting ones do. It's all 'the Second' and 'the Fourth', and, heck, I think I heard one guy using Roman numerals. So, do you have anything like that?"

Seymour Greene

"Well, it does seem like so. It looks like most of the people here come from some bloodline of supers."

Seymour's expression went dark for a second, as though there are memories that stir up a fair amount of anger in him.

"My family has been pretty mundane. From what the people were saying when I was experimented on, I was not the first one like this. So, that probably counts."

Vance finally stepped in, and paused his whistling as he looked over everyone around, colorful cast of characters they were. He blinked a bit before finally saying. "Uh... hi there."

Giph

>Greetings, the alien responded to the latest newcomer, feeling it necessary to welcome each individual entry. After all, if she misses even one person, imagine the shame they'll feel. It would most certainly affect morale, which could have unforeseen consequences in the future.

>I see you attire yourself in the manner of one of your 'cow boys', yet you resemble neither a cow, nor a boy. A conundrum, to be sure, she further opined, taking another siiiiip. It wasn't clear if she was drinking in the slowest, loudest manner possible on purpose or not.

And then almost as an afterthought, she turned back to address the excitable child-sized human who'd recently injured himself on the floor. >You float far better than most humans, though your dexterity is still somewhat below average. I can assist you in your learning, so as to avert any future injuries, she offered.

Though her brutal honesty may have been a little put on, the offer to help was genuine. After all, it wasn't every day you saw a human who could rival her own floating experience. If they were to work together, the floaters must fly in formation.

Shao Fei

She's a warrior, Fei thought to herself. That was obvious, but... she's old. Real ancient... like she doesn't belong here. Little unstable, but... she's holding on. Real king... or queen. Why'd I think king first...?

"Yeah. It will," Fei agreed out loud, after a brief pause spent processing what her eyes had seen of Gilgamesh's true nature. "My ancestor barely did anything but flaunt how great he was. Landed him in trouble more than a few times. I'm gonna do things a little different. Don't like to be more than who I am. This is who I am. Slouched on a couch, listenin' to music, in my pajamas, all of that. Not kitted out in gold and silver or whatever. Not my style."

She gave Gilgamesh a half-smile, before turning away slightly and scratching behind her ear.

"I'm just out here 'cause I have to be. Can't waste what I got. Rather be doing somethin' than nothing. Saint Foundation felt like what I needed. Hope I'm right...!"

She overheard Maxx briefly, catching the part about everyone seemingly being numbered. She cleared her throat and raised her voice, trying to get his attention.

"Hey! I don't have a number, and I'm pretty interes- wait nevermind! You're right! Carry on!"

She chuckled to herself and sat back again, shooting a grin over at Gilgamesh with a twinkle in her eye before turning back forward and seeming to become listless again.

Gilgamesh

"I am certain you are! In truth, I wish I shared your confidence. To gaze upon me, it may not seem so. But there are days I am filled with the gravest uncertainty."

They breathed out, turning away, starting off towards the sea. For a moment, their spirit seemed to fade. Their body was young, but their spirit was old as stone, centuries of knowledge and wisdom sitting on their shoulders. She was lucky she wasn't crushed under the weight.

But she wasn't about to ruin the mood. She returned Fei's wink with one of her own. She clapped her hands, doing her best to stay in the moment.

"But this is not the day for doubts! To indulge in hesitation would be nothing short of a disservice. Let us bask in the glory of celebration!"

She grabbed a glass of punch, guzzling it down in one gulp. If she was worried, she wasn't about to show it.

"Hm. I cannot say it matches my standards, but it does quench your thirst. Would you care for some friend Fei? Perhaps it is better suited to your tastes."

"Probably," Maxx shrugs, not noticing the momentary darkness in Seymour's expression.

Maxx turns to Fei, having heard her raise her voice. He doesn't really know what to make of what she said, though. "Uh... okay?" he responds, a mildly confused expression on his face.

Turning back to Seymour and unconsciously running a hand through his mullet, Maxx decides to change the subject to himself instead of dwelling on it any further.

"Well, since you asked," he begins pridefully, ignoring the fact that nobody asked, "I'm the son of Marik Gellan, and as soon as he retires he's going to give me the Magellan corporation. That's like having a superhero dad, only cooler."

Abigail-Ya Wanna Tussle?

"That's like having a superhero dad, only cooler." Abigail wasn't sure why she'd heard that specific line over the general hubbub, but she turned and shot a (mock) death glare at the speaker before walking over to Maxx in an exaggerated strut, chest out and fists clenched. "You sayin' your dad is cooler than my dad?" She gave another overdone scowl, with her cheeks puffed out and rolling up of sleeves, before bursting into laughter. "I'm kidding, that is pretty cool. You're lucky. I guess having powers is like having a lot of money, so maybe this place will be good for your future if you ever hang up the super-biz?" With another friendly wave, she walked back to Carol. "Say, how many of you folks have a super-parent?"

Ryan

Joining the others talking, Ryan promptly walked back over to contribute;

"Not exactly a parent superhero, but my grandfather. He got in touch with me after what almost happened at my school. Gave me this suit and everything, set me up to find this sweet spot here." Glancing around, Ryan wondered where the folks in charge here might be. Seemed like so far this just seemed like a minor celeb meet and greet. Though maybe they were waiting for more people to show. This seemed like a pretty packed joint.

I mean, what if like, some fuckhead Nazi from grandad's days got it in his head to—-nahh, nahh, the Saint Foundation's one of the biggest hero groups in the world. This place has gotta be secure.

Vance heard the thoughts of the alien enter his head... and opted to just not comment on it. "Yeah, the Gunslingers go back to the Wild West, if not farther," he commented. "I gotta keep up with the style."

He continued on in and looked around at the others, quite the gaggle of individuals here.

Kyle looked at the others, before shrugging.

"Here to succeed my dad, I guess, and a lot of people," He said, out loud "Still that doesn't mean much if I am not awesome at it" He commented. Looking at the walking anachronism girl, he continued.

"So, what can you do?"

Achilles Apóneró

"Is it that obvious?" Achilles laughs, rubbing the back of his head bashfully. "Well I've always been more of a solo super, ("Hey!" Ifaista indignantly shouts over the comms, causing him to backpedal.) I-I mean, solo in the sense I haven't worked with other supers in the field." he gulps.

Then, he heard the other voice in his head, which caused him to look around a bit in surprise. "Wait was that telepathy or did someone hack the Myrmidon?" Achilles mutters, before smiling again. "Either way, nice to meet you, strange voice." he laughs, to Ifaista's confusion.

Then she heard Abigail ask about people's parents, and her smile faltered a little. "I got my powers from, my dad..." she said, but didn't elaborate.
