I guess as a fantasy strategy rpg likely involving Hitoshi Sakimoto, this'll do in lieu of FFT ever seeing the light of day on modern consoles.
Oh my :O Even having their own version of supports
Playing the demo right now.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Demo gameplay is fuckin' fantastic. Absolutely excellent mix of several SRPG tropes.
But goddamn do I not care for the stale bread hero and his band of merry hangers-ons. Pretty much the only characters I give a small amount of crap about so far are Chloe and Travis. Everyone else has Personality: Knight or Personality: Kidnapping victim.
Bleye knows Sabers.I'm going to repeat what I said in another thread; I'd have rather continued playing as the Queen from the prologue, she was cool.
"If you are going through hell, keep going." - Winston ChurchillI mean it is the early part of the game, I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets more complicated later.
That said if it’s just RTS Fire Emblem in the end I’d still be amused.
Honesty with how cool the mom was as well I expect she’s either not dead or brainwashed considering how her brainwashed loyal soldiers don’t remember what happens after turning in her, and/or she can’t use the Unicorn Ring since she isn’t a virgin since Unicorns are all about virginity and purity.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. Not having played the demo, this gives me strong Triangle Strategy vibe with Serenoa: The most boring man alive.
I was also getting Serenoa flashbacks. At least prince whatshisname doesn't sound like he's about to nod off after every one of his lines, but he's ultimately not any better so far.
Bleye knows Sabers.Vanillaware is particularly good at making seemingly simple plots get infinitely more complex as they go, so I imagine this is no different.
It's been 3000 years…He seems to display some basic agency on his own so that puts him ahead of "let's have a vote so you can tell me what to do" Serenoa
I feel like I'm one of the 2 people on Earth that like Serenoa.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the entire point of Triangle Strategy that Serenoa's forming convictions across the entire game, until either he has to pick someone else's conviction to follow or has enough strength of conviction to guide everyone?
(I know I'm not wrong since I'm literally playing Triangle Strategy in NG+ right this second )
Unicorn Overlord will be fine, the prince will grow into his role as protagonist like every other Vanillaware lead.

When I heard that this game is RTS, I was worried because I don't like those game. Thankfully, my fears dissolved when I saw that the game does actually give you enough time to plan your actions.
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.Yes. That is essentially exactly what they where going for. But that means you are explicitly playing as a piece of stale bread with manic-depressive syndrome who was voice directed to deliver everything as flatly as possible.
Yeah it's Real-Time with Pause. They give you every opportunity to plan your actions out before you send your little guys to their doom.
Bleye knows Sabers. That's Benedict, not Serenoa. (but no seriously covid messed that game up)
Anyway, having played a bunch of Unicorn Overlord last night I actually think I might pick this up despite not enjoying a lot of Vanillaware games. Just not at launch. Might ask someone to get me it as a present down the line.
Please tell me we get to ride a unicorn into battle. Would be cool?
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Alains promoted class rides a horse with a horn covered in armor. It's not clear if the horn is real or part of the horsesface plate.
If it isn't real I can imagine he'll be riding a real unicorn as a super upgrade down the line.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."That's the idea in theory. In practice it's not what happens. On the non golden route they vote, Serenoa doesn't adopt someone's conviction, he gets told what to do as always.
On the Golden Route he does make a decision but doesnt form his own conviction. He just stumbled on a way to make everyone else's happen so he doesn't have to make anyone mad. It's everyone else who forms new convictions by realizing how their own views were limiting them from seeing the opportunity before them. Serenoa does show agency for the first and last time so that part is nice.
What doesn't help Serenoa is that he's absent from almost all the non recruitment character skits so he basically has no interesting relationships with anyone.
Anyway back on topic. Enjoying the demo. Strong Ogre Battle energy and that's always a hit for me. Enjoying the animation style too. It's really pretty.

Doublepost, Started a Work Page
She's on the Box with a different hairdo, and the website shows her with a grown up Alain in said hairdo.

Not gonna lie my favorite character so far is a random bandit boss that took a girl with a giant hammer under his wing.
Bleye knows Sabers.I'm going to make two predictions of the story based on what I've played of the demo so far;
1) There's been no mention of the main character's father, which tells me he's either completely unimportant and will never be brought up, or he'll be someone very important and his identify will be a huge plot twist.
2) Near the end of the game, you'll confront the evil general who brainwashed everyone into obeying him — only to find he was also brainwashed by the true Big Bad of the game, and the last act will be fighting him/her/it to prevent The End of the World as We Know It.
It could also be a immaculate conception related to the nature of the Unicorn and its magic as well. Since it’s whole thing is preferring virgins and purity.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. You think that Alain was born sinless?
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.
The next game from Vanillaware that was just announced:
You can recruit over 60 characters according to the Japanese Nintendo Direct, But I can't find that trailer.
