Based on the description, it seems to be three different tropes that are at best vaguely related rolled into one.

A very large city, far larger than pretty much any other city in the game, which the player will spend the entirety of the first few hours of the game in, but its importance quickly falls off after the first few hours. Examples include as Midgar in Final Fantasy VII and Twilight Town in Kingdom Hearts II.

A central hub in the form of a large city that becomes available very early on, and that the player will typically return to after completing a section of the game to stock up on items and get better equipment before starting on the next. Examples include Rogueport in Paper Mario TTYD and Traverse Town in Kingdom Hearts.

The sleepy hometown of The Hero, filled with flowers and trees with calming music, and having very few inhabitants.

These are VERY different tropes with the only thing they have in common is that they're typically the "first" town in an RPG.

~Magister Flopsy You'll need to make Administrivia.Wick Check and provide evidence that the trope is causing problems if you to take the matter to the TRS. If you would like to discuss the trope's issues, you can make a thread on Trope Talk. Locking.
