Don't think I've seen a thread around one of my all time favorite bands. So I'm gonna start one.

I'm one of those "all-eras" type of fan, so I love them regardless of whether Peter or Phil is fronting the band or if Steve is in it or not.

Also an all-era, albeit preferring the Gabriel albums. Selling England by the Pound is and remains one of my all time favorite albums out there.

Perhaps also a good place to discuss Peter Gabriel's upcoming album. I should check out the released tracks at some point.

[up] I also really love Selling England, but as an album I'm a little more partial to Foxtrot, and not just because it contains my favorite prog song "Supper's Ready" on it. I think each song just flows beautifully into each other, the sequencing is great and unlike Selling England doesn't have hit-or-miss Mood Whiplashing song placements. Every song is great.

Trick is probably my 2nd favorite, followed by Selling and Lamb both in 3rd, and Duke in 4th.

I'm going to see Peter Gabriel next month with my girlfriend, I'm pretty excited. Funny enough, it was an old ex that got me into Peter Gabriel and his work with Genesis in the first place.

While I recognized the best era of Genesis was the Peter GabrielĀ“s one, my all favourite song is Ripples, curiosly one of the first hits Genesis did with Phil Collins.

The song is still having the feels of the progressive approach it has with Gabriel, but it begans to soft down to the way the band would work later with Collins. Also is a good reminder that being young is not for forever.

Hoping to see Peter Gabriel singing before he retires (Collins?, I saw him in his first and only concert in Guadalajara, Mexico, back in 2018... very far from the "good guy" of rock and roll he has in the 80s, but yet a big figure).

[up] Honestly, they should have used "Ripples" as the guitar song in X. It perfectly reflects Pearl's feelings.

I realized I never followed my comment up - I did go to see Peter Gabriel (by myself but that's a whole other story). About half the set was all those I/O singles he's been releasing every full moon, with the rest being a pretty greatest hits heavy set. He still sounds pretty good, though his vocal range has gotten a bit lower over the years (e.g. one of the backing vocalists joined in for a few lines of "In Your Eyes" because he apparently can't hit some of those notes anymore).

[up] I personally think Gabriel's voice miraculously matured and got richer as he got older.
