The world of the gods, fountain of creation pavilion.

Cato watched the transparent image of the new mortal world, no more than three feet across in its representation here, moving around the room in lazy circles. Or rather, the likewise transparent image of the titanic creature moved, and the world simply went along for the ride.

Cato smiled, as he always did when a new mortal world emerged, as he wondered which gods would answer his signal this time. He often enjoyed seeing what they would do with these newly emerged mortal worlds, as he could never quite guess just what would happen...

Ebrinada Dynasty capital, (005.019) nighttime, close to dawn.

Tomasa Voight, otherwise known as Queen Voight, was awoken from her slumber by an ongoing commotion outside. She was large, over seven feet tall from her head to her feet, and over eleven from her head to the tip of her tail. She had an appearance like those from another world would call a tiger shark. She grabbed a pair of short, straight swords, her weapon of choice, and swam out of her room and through her palace. Then, she was out onto a balcony, where two armed guards were stationed. "What is going on?" she asked, seeing the guards looking up.

Following their gaze, Tomasa saw scattered crowds of her people, already an odd sight at this time of night, but even odder was that they were up at the surface of the water, which... Was a different color than it usually was? "What has happened up there?" she added, looking back at her guards.

"I'm not sure my queen... The surface changed, no more than ten minutes ago. We saw a group of surface trawlers doing night fishing break the surface to look, then quickly dived down into the city," one guard explained, motioning with his arm.

"They were yelling, but we couldn't quite make out the words. People started awakening and going to look for themselves," the other guard elaborated.

Tomasa looked up again, and noticed one figure among the crowd diving down to the balcony. It was Karam Segreti, one of her advisors, who had spotted her and approached to speak, making a quick bowing motion first. "Queen Voight, the night sky has changed," he told her, motioning an arm towards the surface.

"What do you mean it's changed?" Tomasa replied, her brow lowering in confusion.

"Best you come see for yourself, my queen," Karam answered, and started leading the way back up towards the surface. "The night sky mist has cleared. Leukippos' fins can be seen clearly," he explained as they made their way up.

"Fins? So there is a second one?"

"Indeed my queen, our philosophers were correct. There is a second fin, out past the Eastern lands."

"And were they also correct about how large the fins truly are?"

"No... They're even larger. At least three times the size of our largest estimates."

"Three times?!" As Tomasa yelled that in surprise, they were finally reaching the surface, as some of her subjects parted to the sides so the two could reach unobstructed. She carefully poked her head up into the air, blinking as her eyes struggled a bit to focus.

Up until then, the night sky for these mortals had been a swirling miasma of nebula. Now however, it was clear, with the twinkling lights of distant stars. This was a normal occurrence for mortal worlds newly emerging from the fountain of creation, but of course, they had no clue of that.

Tomasa stared at them for a moment. Then she turned, and looked in awe at the absolutely colossal left wing of Leukippos, which they mistakenly thought of as a fin, as it slowly flapped downward. After watching it for a minute, she finally sunk her head back under the water. "Any idea what those little lights in the sky are?" she asked, looking at Karam.

"I'm afraid not, my queen," Karam answered sincerely.

The fairy trees, (013.018) nighttime, close to dawn.

Unlike the Ebrinada, the fairies weren't making too much of a fuss about the night sky suddenly changing. They stared up in curiosity at it, and at Leukippos' wings, but didn't care about it much beyond it being noteworthy at best.

Unnamed jungles, (016.012) nighttime, close to dawn.

The creatures living in the jungle here didn't have much attention to spare to the night sky changing from nebula to clear stars. Indeed, most of them had not even noticed, as the sky above them was currently roiling with storm clouds. Strange, arcane thunder rumbled overhead as creatures large and small scattered to shelter from the pouring rain...

The sea (022.009)

A catgirl floats above the waters, gazing out over the distant lands. "A whole new world to play with~ Oh, my smallcaps are gone. Eh, those never played nice around here. Anywhomst! This looks like a good place to get started."

And with a grand gesture, land begins to rise...

The world of the gods — the Mother Tree, Tarna's realm

The Mother Tree of Tarna stood tall in the cloudy realm of the gods. The gentle breezes that flowed through the clouds made the tree's leaves dance and flutter, and birds flew between the branches, creating their nests and hunting for food. Squirrels, monkeys, and weasels clambered through the undergrowth. Tigers and bears hunted at the base of the tree for deer, antelope, oxen.

A hawk flew towards the tree with speed and with purpose, darting in between the largest branches and flapping its great wings to pick up speed and dodge foliage. It flew through a large clump of leaves towards what was soon evident to be a large hidden palace made of wood and thatch, multi-layered and covered in vines, flowers, and overgrowth. The hawk flew into one of the largest windows in the structure, towards the central, highest point in the palace.

The room was much bigger on the inside than it was on the outside— it was was a great hall of sorts, made of wood almost like the inside of a tree, but with a smaller, but still massive tree inside. Bushes and shrubs lined the edges of the room, and songbirds nested in creches all around the room. In the center, at the base of the great tree, sat an impossibly beautiful woman with long chestnut-brown hair, clad only in vines and foliage tastefully covering her body. She slouched in her throne, a wooden and stone seat that almost seemed like a miniature mountain.

The hawk, evidently larger than any mortal hawk, landed at the foot of the throne, in front of the goddess, lowering its head in reverence, before in an instant it suddenly changed its appearance, becoming a young man with deer-like antlers and ears, and the legs and feet of a goat. He bowed piously, then looked up into the queen's eyes.

"My lady Tarna, queen of the wilds, mother of all flora and fauna..." the deer-man greeted in a deep, baritone voice. "I bring news from Cato, the Eldest. It seems a new world has been born from the Fountain of Creation." Tarna tilted her head, raising it slightly with an eyebrow raising as well.

"Is that so, Ruviel?" she asked. "This is an intriguing matter. We must go to Cato at once. This world, does it have... mortals on it?" Ruviel tensed up.

"Only one civilization, my lady. We will take steps to protect your children," Ruviel replied. Tarna stood, walking down the steps towards Ruviel and taking his arm.

"Come, my Ruviel. Let us fly. Cato will no doubt be expecting us." She and Ruviel at once transformed into a pair of hawks, Ruviel smaller and darker, and Tarna larger and lighter brown. The two of them flew out towards the window, circling around each other, and flapping out away from the tree towards the Fountain of Creation.

The world of the gods — Fountain of Creation

Tarna and Ruviel, still in the form of hawks, flew across the great expanse of sky that separated the sacred tree from the great fountain. As a goddess and her follower, the trip took no time at all, despite the great distance they must have travelled. Landing beside the fountain, Tarna and Ruviel arrived at the overlook of the new world, transforming into their preferred humanoid forms once they arrived on solid ground.

"Venerable Cato, he of infinite wisdom, speak unto us. Tell us of this world. Show us that which grows, crawls, runs and jumps upon this land. That which swims and paddles in the waters. That which soars and flies in its skies," Tarna beseeched, looking upon the image of Quedrands.

Stella Rosa, in her Realm - A Little Party Never Killed Nobody

Residing within the most intact marble temple amongst the colossal vineyard, the bobbed, knee-length dress wearing goddess known as Stella Rosa was resting on her golden throne. In one hand, she dingled grapes and in another she was holding a glass of fine red wine.

There was barely anything on her mind as she just felt like relaxing and drinking some wine.

A young pink-haired girl in a boxy dress excitably ran towards Stella, holding something behind her back.

"Mama! Mama!" She shouted excitably.

Stella slowly rose up from her position, making eye contact with the child. She smiled at her and caressed her cheek.

"My dear Myra, what do you have?" She asked in good-hearted curiosity.

Myra showed the thing she was hiding and it turned out to be a hand-made flower clown consisting of daisies and dandelions. It's rather crudely-made but it was clear that heart and passion was put in it.

"I found these flowers and I thought of making a crown for you!"

"Awww, thank you sweetie," Stella took the hand-crafted crown and wore it alongside her golden laurel wreath.

As she head-patted Myra who enjoyed the affection and giggled, a section of Stella's followers arrived, being led by a red-headed woman in an extravagant light green dress with golden accents and a fur collar. The followers giggled too themselves as they approached Stella.

"My Lovelies! Do you have anything for me as well?"

The red-head knelt down by Stella's throne, holding her hand and staring into her eyes with tender affection.

"You heard the signal from that old man earlier," the woman spoke.

"Yeah, Claire, but I was thinking of being lazy for a while, just enjoying my time."

"I get that, love, but I think it wouldn't hurt to go to the Fountain of Creation. We have harvested a lot of wine and bear and everything else for every god."

Stella smirked at Claire.

"Alright, you got me; let's hold a little party at the Fountain of Creation."

And so, Stella gathered up her Lovelies; they carried wine barrels into wooden carts, while others carried boxes containing other alcoholic beverages and a select few were chosen to stay to babysit Myra. As they left the realm and entered the World of the Gods, Stella was ready to have some fun.

Theri

"Sorry I'm late— o-oh, I wasn't late at all, was I?"

A small girl with long pink hair and pink eyes had come dashing up to the fountain, nervously tugging on one of her braids. Some might recognize her as Theri, the goddess whose existence kick-started a war that devastated one of the mortal realms. But this was the first time she'd ever been to the fountain.

"Um..." She knelt down by the fountain, brow furrowed in thought. "If it's alright, may I go talk to the mortals?" she finally asked Cato. "I'm still not entirely sure how this works..."

"Kept me waiting, haven’t you? Tch. No matter. Dawdle all you’d like. In the end, your defeat remains inevitable."

The World of the Gods - O'Keanu's Realm

A great blue octopus rests upon the bow of a majestic mahogany schooner, the sailboat itself overlooking a beautiful sandy beach floating calmly upon the waves of an expansive sea. It awakens to the great splash of a colossal orange squid hitting the surface of the water with one of its long tentacles, the octopus's four eyes opening and focusing on the creature in front of it as it rises to stand upon its own eight limbs. Then, it begins to speak to the beast.

"What's the matter, Sonny?" the octopus asks, speaking through the mouth full of pointed teeth on the front of its head.

"O'Keanu, a signal was sent out just now by the aged one," the squid responds telepathically.

"Yes, I recieved it too," O'Keanu responds. "A new world has emerged from the Fountain of Creation, then... and I suppose you'd like for us to take a gander?"

The squid says nothing, but enthusiastically nods its triangular head yes.

"Truth be told, I'm in full agreement," O'Keanu says, smiling at his companion's enthusiasm. "So it shall be done, then. Let us move now - I'd dread to miss anything."

With that, O'Keanu and Sonny begin to swim, both the god and his immortal using their tentacles to propel themselves through the water of their realm.

The World of The Gods - The Fountain of Creation Pavilion

Once out of their realm, the octopus and the squid continue to swim through the skies until landing on the pavilion. O'Keanu moves across the ground on his tentacles, with the orange squid - twice his size - following behind him.

"This new world harbours mortals, you say?" the octopus muses to nobody in particular, looking at the image of said world. "How intriguing," he continues, his four eyes focusing squarely on the blue parts of the map.

Coordinates 20-16

A growing tension flattens the surface of the water, a portion of the inland sea becoming an utterly still mirror of the stars above.

Horn gate. Bore.

A ripple. Unbidden. A single pinprick point cascades out across the surface. A ring growing larger still.

Paradigm protypiea. Paradigm implementa.

The stars in the water turn red.

Paradigm. Breach.

It emerges from the waters in a cascade, spires and fortress walls and turning cogs pulling itself out of the depths with two massive arms. Eventually it settles, looking as though its legs are still buried in the depths, emitting a creaking groan that does naught but disturb some birds into flight.

The World of the Gods, Fountain

The mechanical fortress is large enough to be visible on the smaller representation of the world... And somewhere away from the fountain, a pill-shaped object of what looks like solid bronze manifests amid the Realms...

It's clearly a case of backroom political albumizing.

The world of the gods, fountain of creation pavilion.

As Tarna and O'Keanu arrived and spoke, Cato didn't seem to be paying attention to them at first. He was still looking at the transparent mortal world, and little glints happening on it. "Hmm? And just how did you slip by without my notice?" Cato thought out loud, his tone as if he was just noticing some interesting thing on his lawn, while looking at a spot in the North Eastern ocean. His voice, like his appearance, was impossible to truly pin down, while distinctly being the voice of an old man; there wouldn't be any mortal man you could point to as an example and say, 'he sounds just like Cato.' Otherwise however, his voice was, perhaps surprisingly, mundane sounding; there was no strange echo or booming, grand presence of a god or any other remarkable effect to it. It was, for all intents and purposes, just the voice of a regular old man, but also no old man in particular.

After a few moments, he finally looked up towards Tarna and O'Keanu, giving them both a simple nod of acknowledgement. "Tarna. O'Keanu. Come and see, if you desire. This world holds many kinds of life, though only two that would speak, at the moment," Cato said, motioning his free hand over the transparent mortal world as it continued a slow, banking turn.

"There, I sense many, under the waves. They are fierce, and proud, but not completely without generosity, it seems," Cato explained, pointing to the South Western ocean. "And there, beings of magic. A small number, in the grand scheme of things; they seem carefree, and unconcerned," he continued, pointing to a spot South of the center of the mortal world.

"Though you would not be the first gods to enter this world," Cato added, and practically on cue, that's when Meowing popped back into the pavilion. "Ah, Meowing. I suppose your feline dexterity is how you came through here without my hearing you," he surmised, though clearly held no animosity about it. He kneeled down, giving Lucky a scratch on the head, then a simple pet along his back.

Then Cato stood and turned his attention to Theri, giving her a gentle smile. "Theri, the young love goddess. Come to finally take part in our divine game," he said, placing his free hand on her shoulder. "As I told you when you gained your realm, you are a true god now. There is no one, not even I, who can stop you from traveling to the mortal worlds; changes you make can be undone, but to visit, and to speak with mortals, is your right through our nature," the eldest god part explained, part reminded Theri, as he gently ushered her over to where the transparent little mortal world was finishing its slow motion turn.

"You may think that you don't know how, but you do. Simply follow your heart," Cato told Theri, then looked at the other three gods in the pavilion. "And it would seem, there are interesting occurrences happening down there," he let them know, taking his hand off Theri's shoulder to motion at the brewing arcane storm not far from the center of the world, and the (relatively) little figure emerging from the South Eastern sea. "And I think... There are more coming," Cato then said, looking out of the pavilion at the cloudy sky beyond, seeing a pack of wooden carts on approach.

Stella Rosa - the Fountain of Creation - Who Wants to Get Drunk as Hell?

"Hello, everyone!" Stella summoned a harp to play as she arrived with her Lovelies pushing the wooden carts full of alcohol. "I got some good ol' beverages for every. Single. God! Go on, drink!!!"

She plays some notes on the harp while her Lovelies began serving wine, beer, vodka, whiskey, and so on to the other gods.

"Eh, this is a 'lil too old school now I think about it..." Stella throws the harp to the side without a single thought.

She then manifests a saxophone and smiles at it.

"There we go, that's more like it."

A Lovelie offered Stella a bottle of wine, which she happily took and chugged the bottle down within seconds. Afterwards, she begins playing the saxophone and loud jazz fills the air. As she plays, numerous of her Lovelies surrounded her, all doing the Charleston and laughing.

The world of the gods, fountain of creation

Tarna eyed the newly created world with interest, her eyes focused on the creatures of the world. She eyed the ocean-dwellers with disdain, their mortal civilization a blight on the otherwise perfect-seeming world. The magical beings of the central woodlands, however, were more to her interest. Her eyes glinted as she examined the fairy trees, a fountain of magical power in the woodlands.

Stella's arrival immediately made Tarna shoot the goddess of wine a foul look, before rolling her eyes at the commotion she was causing.

"Enough of this pointless revelry," Tarna said. "My children need to meet their queen."

"Yes, my lady," Ruviel responded with a bow. She and Ruviel vanished into a burst of green light, which flew towards the image of the nascent world and darted in a beeline towards the magical trees.

The fairy trees (013.018)

Over the fairies' glade, the moon seemed to glisten brightly, a light shining through the damp trees, glistening in all different colors. A rainbow seemed to glisten throughout the magical stand of trees, as from the light of the moon, an enormous rainbow butterfly gently flapped its wings, lowering itself from the area of the moon and circling the stand of trees. The butterfly's wings cycled between every color known to exist, its fluffy body looking peaceful and friendly.

From around the trees, flowers began to bloom anew, and the trees began to seed and start to grow new saplings. The fairies' tree home was beginning to expand, with nature enveloping the woodlands and making it start to thrive and glisten with health. The great rainbow butterfly hovered over the newly growing forest.

"I am Tarna, goddess of nature," the great butterfly, in a soothing voice, greeted the likely-confused fairies. "By the light of the sun and moon, as the rains come and go, as steady as the days and nights, I will be here to protect you and all natural things, my children."

Ruviel, in the form of a smaller yet still beautiful multi-colored butterfly, orbited around Tarna, fluttering to and fro.

The world of the gods, fountain of creation pavilion.

Cato watched with an expression of mild amusement as Stella and her Lovelies arrived. He politely took one of the wine glasses, but did not drink right away. Instead he held it up and waited, until a good few seconds later, one of his immortal queen bees came buzzing into the pavilion. Being almost the size of a human head, the queen bee landed gingerly on his outstretched arm, her weight seemingly not bothering him at all. In her mandibles, she carried a piece of her hive; a container of honey as it turned out, which she poured into the wine glass.

Once she finished pouring the honey, the queen bee took off again and flew back out of the pavilion. Cato swirled the glass around a bit, then took a drink. "Mmm, a good wine, thank you Stella," he said, though she might not have heard him considering the saxophone jazz. He turned to watch Tarna travel into the mortal world, then waited, content to stand there quietly listening and observing the other gods.

The fairy trees, (013.018) nighttime, close to dawn.

Tarna's display certainly got the fairies' attention. Though like with the changing sky and the view of Leukippos' wings, it didn't really have them in awe. In fact, it rather seemed like they were only looking at her because she had made herself the most eye-catching thing around. Once the plant life around them suddenly grew, many of the fairies turned their attention to that, especially the ones that found themselves having to move on account of it.

Then, many of them started chattering amongst themselves, almost as if Tarna wasn't there anymore, apparently about whether or not they were happy with the new plant growth. Their little, squeaky voices tinged with magic as they spoke, almost like little wind chimes.

"Now flying around is going to be more cramped here."

"More places to sit, though."

"Will these bear fruit?"

"That was my favorite grass lounging spot. Now it's gone."

Finally, one of the fairies turned his attention to Tarna again, and approached her. He appeared to be a young man, no older than twenty if he were human, his wings buzzing as he floated up to her eye level. "Are you expecting something in return for this?" he asked, in the same kind of tone as someone awkwardly informing a waiter that they had been served the wrong dish.

The Fountain of Creation

O'Keanu moves in closer, peering at the south-western ocean that Cato pointed at - focused particularly on the mortal civilisation there.

"Ha! A people after my own hearts," he responds, regarding Cato's description of the sea-dwelling mortals. "I shall introduce myself to them immediately."

O'Keanu puts a tentacle up towards Stella, both to acknowledge her presence and to signal that he's not interested in drink at the moment. "Save the drink for later. Now, there is work to done."

"Come along, Sonny." O'Keanu's giant squid, who is currently staring mistrustfully at Lucky, now looks at O'Keanu, before the both of them disappear in a short-lived cloud of mist and teal light.

005.019 - Capital of the Ebrinada Dynasty

An enormous blue octopus with four eyes and two mouths, massive enough to wrap one of its tentacles all the way around Queen Voight's palace, is now descending upon said palace. It is tailed by a significantly smaller, but still formidably large, orange colossal squid.

The duo come to rest in front of the palace where they'll be fully visible from the surrounding area, and the larger of the two begins to speak.

"I am O'Keanu, god of the oceans and the creatures within," O'Keanu announces, his deep, reverberating and gruff voice making his presence known. "Bring out your leader, so that I may address them directly."

The fairy trees (013.018)

Tarna was slightly taken aback by the fairies' sheer indifference to her. She had intended to make an impression, to improve their home, to claim the magical woodlands as her own. But her display of power seemed to have no impact on the fairies, who seemed bemused at best and disappointed at worst.

Tarna seemed caught off guard, so Ruviel fluttered around her, transforming himself into a young fairy much like him. Ruviel's wings were like that of a dragonfly.

"I am Ruviel, Tarna's right-side. Milady Tarna wishes only to enrich the natural magics of your realm, and to protect your pristine woodlands from those that would see its destruction. This woodland is now in the domain of Tarna, as are all woodlands in this world. You need not offer anything in return. These trees will bear fruit of all kinds, offer shelter from without, and allow your kind to spread further in safety," Ruviel explained. Milady, if we are to gain the favor of these folk, it would likely behoove us to address their concerns." Tarna hesitated for a bit, but grudgingly nodded.

"You are correct, my love. Very well," she simply said. "As my children, I wish to nurture you and make you happy." With a few great flaps of her kaleidoscopic wings, the forest began to change around her. The trees bent and swayed to allow for more space between them for flying, and started to bear fruit of all kinds— glistening, tropical delights on every branch. Grassy outcroppings and clearings parted the forest every so often, here and there, allowing for dazzling views of the morning sky. "This domain has no natural equal on this world. By what name do you call these woods?"

Theri

"Okay, I guess I'll— o-oh." Theri had—briefly—smiled for a moment there, only for it to fade when O'keanu disappeared. "Never mind. Already taken."

Now with no idea what to do, Theri walked up to the fountain, closed her eyes, and pointed to some random spot.

And in a flash of pink mist, she'd be there.

WORLD OF GODS

So it begins.

Above the infinite sky between sanctums in the realm of the divine, a moment was skipped. Infinitely small and imperceptible, it held far too long to be called a moment. It was as if this place beyond places had to think about what came next, sticking a bit too long on something unintentionally vast.

The moment lay suspended.

Cato no doubt knows something else has come here, invited or not.

In the next, there existed a sphere of chrome, looming like a moon beyond the clouds. Through its surface, crags of vein-like lines intersected at perfect angles, these cracks forming a lattice, a network of circuitry lit with a hazy blue fire. It had not existed prior, but it would exist from hereon. From above, whirling like smoke caught in a ceiling fan, a warping liquid mass of ink careened towards this sphere as if magnetically attracted. Its undulating movements were like that of a flock of birds, or perhaps insects...spores on the wind, maybe? It was hard to determine a point of reference as it seeped into these leylines, folding itself through nonexistant space to enter its core. The crags of blue flame roared to life as the sphere began to rotate on a perfect axis, the slow, impenetrable mark of a new power shifting reality unmistakable.

Discovery. The gods recognized one another with reactions ranging from revelry to disdain.

One, or artifice, descends, the calculated act of creation taking only a tick to complete. There was no outpacing it. Then, the second. The window was closing.

It is time now.

Cato's chance to interfere had passed. Would he even have done so?

No matter.

The wind and rain howled, shredding branches and sending animals scattering to ground for the safety of brush or burrows. A typhoon greater than any the land had seen in years was brewing. The sky was awash in whirling storms, thunder jumping through the mass of clouds, each crackle illuminating a great shadow in the sky. This shadow of a pillar stretched to the heavens, invisible in a sky that had just been cleared of the fog of nebulae.

Amidst cracks of lightning over a stormy sea, just above a rocky outcropping, the shadow began to fall. An enormous pillar of lapis-blue crystal, thrumming with eldritch fire and struck repeatedly by the storm's fury, descended through the clouds. The sound of its collision into the rock and the crashing of water where it fell was heard the world over, as a tower taller than any construct built in history thus far settled into place. One day, the land would heal, and the tower would become a part of this place forever. For now, the waters receded, and sudden mountainous outcrops and bluffs shot up from the earth, sacred fire discharging into the land itself. When the waters could take no more of this eldritch power, a bolt of it shot through the tower and back into the sky, thunder rattling in bright flashes through the whirling storm.

The battering rain became black. The inky Ichor began to stain the pristine tower. The towers fire radiated from it, and aligned gutters and cracks within the crystalline surface funneled this ink into basins as it had with rainwater, the very basins those who dwell here would drink from. Every torch within became alight with blue, radiant flame.

From the basins crawled semi-formless things. With eyes of fire and bodies of the Ichor, they could shift their forms to some extent. Each carried with it a flame, to be worn or held within oneself, a pure manifestation of the sacred fire within them. The Lanternfolk emerge. They would grow to cloak themselves in garments of woven flame, shaping the fire without thought or effort. Magic, it seemed, was as simple as breathing to these entities. One final gift was given to them. Lit within the walls of the structure was a lexicon, an alphabet and dictionary of a runic language spoken before time was time. Three runes stand above all:

The Crystal, The Fire, The Ichor

The new beings marveled at the world they were yet to discover. A cold, purifying rain poured over the tower once more, washing the ink running down its face away, into the ocean. There, it did not remain atop the waves like an oil slick, but churned with the waves as if determined to find land. It touched nothing underwater. Another presence dwelt there already, felt gazing at what was deemed ill-fit to create the Lanternfolk. There was only so much precious Ichor that had leaked into this reality. None could be wasted on war, especially not this early in the process. When it reached land, it seemed to run uphill in strange fashion, as if the rain was washing it backwards, up the bluffside and into the jungle. Those worthy of this process would require reproduction, cooperation and survivability.

There was an immediate presence felt as soon as the wild place was entered. Something else in the ecosystem, determined to watch over it. Change of plans. Grab the best candidates, the worthy. Exalt only them, take the entire species. There would be no time for variety. They would be noticed soon. Days passed. The storms receded, but did not abate. The thunder striking the tower was less frequent. The trees, decimated only days before, had begun to regrow.

Which candidates? Which? The hornets, the treefaring ones. Reproduce quickly, capable, strong. They required a fungus to reproduce, which they cultivated. The fungus was adaptive and healthy as well, surviving in many conditions. The crows in the trees had been clever enough to fly to safer places until the storm had calmed down, they were clearly intelligent and had many children. And the rabbits who had gone to ground, there had to be thousands already within these jungles. Yes, those four. Those four were worthy. Those four are the chosen. And as ichor blackened the eyes of these species and gave them wisdom beyond their primitive forms, a catalyst for change had begun, stealing away something of nature for another, arcane and inscrutable purpose. The storm dispersed to reveal calm skies. The treeline was now overgrown.

Generations, nothing to gods, little to men even, passed for the beasts. The trees now towered over everything, rivaling the citadel in the distance. The Lanternfolk drank from the rains and ate of the sacred fire of the tower, slowly learning the riddles of the language of antiquity. The beasts forms are changing. All have black eyes, like inky pools, from birth to death...but when dead, their eyes glow with sacred fire, expelled from their natural forms as a slowly dimming radiance. What the beasts were becoming was uncertain, but their behavior shifted quickly. Rabbits, once timid beings, seemed to have had their fight or flight instincts reversed and even attacked predators as packs. The crows grew larger and large and built nests of ever-increasing complexity at the tops of the growing jungle canopy. The hornets gathered in huge megaswarms, consuming entire jungle trees as they grew enormous. The fungi grew eyes. Nature had been subverted, blatantly, and to unknown ends.

The process will not be reversed. The runes are already written.

Soon, the nests of the crows and the hornets seemed indistinguishable. The rabbit tunnels had grown large enough for men to stand upright in. Fungi blossomed off of every nook and cranny, choking deposits of moss on the trees. When the process was complete, no species of the four resembled what it once was and the jungle was a mess of primitive structures, held together with planks and sticks and sap glue.

The arcane fire subsided, limited to the nourishing torches the Lanternfolk used for sustenance. Runes of these new beings glowed, revealing themselves within the lexicon. As they studied the meaning of this portent, the black-blooded species of the woods felt a compulsion to feed from the same fire, if only once, to offer the next generations. A pilgrimage ensued of primitive beast-folk, a march through wilderness that the wilds took notice of, marching to the tune of a force from a place beyond them. The citadel had been there since the dawn of their intelligence. It was a prize in the sky, always calling out. As the first age dawned, they arrived in droves, welcomed by the Lanternfolk due to an untold kinship. Soon, they would take in the fire. Soon, the roots of trees would soak in what ichor remained in the soil. Soon, the trees would bend as easily as the flame itself.

The moment passed.

Galius's Realm

Clank.

Clank.

Clank.

The usual cacophony heard all around the great forge, for Galius and his immortals this was heaven the sounds of a job well done bearing its fruit, countless works of smith adorned the enormous place, massive golems carrying giant vats of molten metal ready to be molded by expert hands. Galius at the center was working on a sword, just a simple zweihander until he heard the call.

A new world, it was a long time ago since Galius personally dabbled in one, he still remembered last time the mortals grew dependant on him to do anything, it was a shame really and for now he didn't had any interest in history repeating itself, until one of the Forged ones walked at him Galius looked at him while adding the final touches to the sword.

"Something the matter? Need more materials?" Galius offered the forged one shook its head side to side there was something else on his mind.

"No I have enough, its just the others and I were thinking what if this time is different? What if mortals don't grow dependent?"

"They will, you give them an inch they take a mile it's just how it is."

"To be fair you gave them way more than an inch, you practically gave them anything they asked for, of course they would grow expecting your gifts." Galius could only respond with a sigh "And well you were smiling helping them, nowadays you barely smirk."

"Not gonna lie, I miss those times..."

"And well some of us really REALLY wanna see this new world" more forged ones got near, now a group of five "So could we go pleeeease?" Galius couldn't say no to his Forged

"Alright, Alright I'll give it another shot, those who wanna come follow me."

Cheers where heard from the group as Galius finished the sword and placed it as for show in the immense wall then made his way to the god fountain.

The fountain of creation pavillon

"Sorry for taking long."

Galius arrived not in any stravagant way he didn't see the need to, at his side five of his forged ones accompanied him as they all saw the new world with awe.

"I got convinced to participate again, may I ask what is that?" Galius then pointed at the Geyser in 012.004.

Ebrinada Dynasty capital, (005.019) nighttime, close to dawn.

O'Keanu's sudden appearance ignited a near instantaneous panic, as Ebrinada scattered and swam for their lives, with much yelling and screaming. Even guards were panicking, with only a few managing to metaphorically stand their ground with their weapons ready. Even they looked pretty uncertain as to what they could actually accomplish with said weapons, however.

Tomasa, having been directly above her palace, was practically face to face with O'Keanu, and looked at him with wide eyes. "Karam, get the people to safety!" she barked, drawing her swords. The advisor wasted no time in swimming away as fast as he could, shouting frantic orders at the guards. The Ebrinada didn't actually have a word in their language for 'god', but part of divine nature meant that when gods spoke to mortals, any new definitions would be magically included with it. However, that didn't mean they automatically internalized what it fully meant.

"I am Queen Voight of the Ebrinada!" Tomasa yelled, pointing a sword at O'Keanu. The divine nature also handily meant being able to understand what mortal words they'd never heard before meant, too. 'Ebrinada' was a word these mortals had come up with from scratch, which essentially meant, 'those who swim and speak and fight.' "I do not fear you, kraken!" she announced. O'Keanu would be able to tell that was a lie. She was absolutely terrified, certain she was probably going to die; yet there she remained, in part because she didn't think she would be able to escape now even if she tried, and in part because she intended to do whatever she could to keep her people safe. Even if that meant just trying to buy them a little bit more time to swim away.

The fairy trees, (013.018) nighttime, close to dawn.

At first, the chattering of the fairies seemed to once again be lukewarm at best when the trees started moving a second time, with some grumblings about having to adjust to their surroundings changing again. However, the tunes started changing greatly once the fruits started to grow and ripen. Fairies started cutting the fruits open with little wisps of magic, then once one fairy would test a fruit to see if it was good, others would quickly pile onto the fruit as well, in a feeding frenzy.

The lone fairy who had approached Tarna looked back at that happening, and said in a more mildly positive tone, "oh, well that's cool. Thanks I guess." After her question, he looked back at her and gave a shrug. "We don't really name things. I heard of some fish people out West who name stuff, but I don't know if they have a name for this place, since it's so far inland... Besides, I haven't met them; you'd have to ask one of the ones who has," he explained, then flew back over to the trees, to join a group of other fairies piling onto a fruit that'd been cut in half.

The world of the gods, fountain of creation pavilion.

Cato stood there in silence for a moment, processing what he'd just sensed. "So that's why that power felt familiar," he muttered quietly, looking at the little arcane storm happening above the jungles of the new mortal world. He remained so caught up in his thoughts, that it took him a moment to even realize Galius had arrived and spoken.

"Ah, Galius. You are done with your isolation?" Cato commented with a friendly smile, then looked at the transparent mortal world again. "That? A geyser of magic, unleashing much magical energy," the eldest god explained simply, then turned to look for the least-occupied looking Lovely from Stella's entourage.

"Excuse me, may I have another glass?" Cato politely requested, holding his staff up, and adding since his hands were full, "it's not for me." Another one of his geometric queen bees quickly zipped into the pavilion, this one a little smaller and more angular than the one before. It was likewise holding a container of honey, which it would pour into the wine glass that the Lovely offered. The bee then picked up the glass itself, carefully holding it underneath herself using her legs.

"Now, if you'll excuse me," Cato said to the other gods who were still present in the pavilion, as he made his way over to one of the edges. The queen bee followed him, staying just over his shoulder. "I must go give an old friend some congratulations," the eldest god added, then he and the queen bee both vanished in a swirl of cloud mist as he stepped out into the open sky.

Of course, being gods, they could trace and follow him, if they wanted to...

The world of the gods, the chrome sphere.

And in a similar swirl of cloud mist, Cato was standing on the surface of the sphere, since it was around the size of a moderate structure. "Well, it seems you've won again. Shall we toast to your victory?" he offered in a polite tone, indicating the extra wine glass that the queen bee was carrying. "Oh, and I don't suppose the twin queens who volunteered to keep you at bay are still alive?" Cato then wondered, it being clear in his tone that he would be disappointed to hear so, but not angry or distraught; the queen bees had known what they were possibly in for, and had still volunteered willingly.

The world of gods, atop the chrome sphere

As Cato appeared atop the strange engine of creation, a ripple of arcane fire swept through the cracks. The entire orb seems to rumble like a speaker, resetting itself to some sort of communications configuration. The sound of it seemed unsettling, as if the rattles and rasps were more of an attempt to sound humanoid than natural sounds made by a living being, but the words remained legible regardless.

"A magnificent game. Your impediments to memory and motion were quite the brilliant foresight. Much astral fire was extinguished in attaining this victory."

There was a sudden extinguishing of the flames within the sphere, a recession of the glow within. the rotation, slow as it was, stopped somewhat jarringly mid-revolution. A mass of inky blackness emerged from the cracks on the top hemisphere of the orb. Two pinpricks of light, embers in the murk, quickly ignited into a pair of eyes. For a moment, the flames within them raged, igniting the outer layer of the small blob of Ichor. The fire, settling into place, spun itself into a rich silk around the entity, resembling the cloak of a Lanternfolk but remaining ever-shifting in visual complexity. Upon the opening of his third eye, he seemed to 'inhabit' this form, addressing Cato directly.

"Trickery, this time. Your queens were positioned well enough that brute force was not a viable option. They will likely return, in time, as they usually do. Their navigation through the fissures between, however, maybe be delayed. Remnants of three games ago, your placement of a quasar where the leyline was weakest. Still your most brilliant gambit, in my eyes...but still a frustration as far as travel times go."

Arcellex took the wine glass, giving a polite bow. Pulling the glass beneath the shifting cloak, it was absorbed into the dark mass, only to be expelled again into the being's hand, empty. "An adequate refreshment."

Arcellex looked to the fountain, somewhat distant to where the sphere had pushed through. Though its 'eyes' did not look towards it, Cato knew that it saw the other gods present, save the absent O'Keanu and Tarna, and though nothing changed visibly the alien intelligence was clearly calculating.

"You have a wealth of players here. More than I've felt in the recent emergences...are you setting up a game, Cato?" The being's interest had piqued now. The last game completed, new wagers and tales, new conflicts and passions began to swim through the limitless potential of the Shoggmind. "If so...who are the players..?"

005.019 - Ebrina Dynasty Capital

Oh dear. A panic was not what O'Keanu had intended to start among the people. And, though he didn't like the idea of being called a kraken, he knew that reacting angrily would probably only make things worse. Either way, the queen of the Ebrinada had come out to face him (if only for posturing), which was a start.

O'Keanu again begins to speak. "Know that I don't want to cause you or your people any harm or terror. Indeed, Queen Voight, you look not upon a kraken, but upon one of the gods. For now, calm your nerves. My companion will give you instructions on what to do next."

At the same time, O'Keanu uses one of the tentacles behind his back to cast an illusion over his giant squid to make him look like one of the Ebrinada, and another to telepathically tell him to give the instructions to Queen Voight. Sonny obliges, disappearing and immediately reappearing in front of the monarch, his illusory Ebrinada form having a slight orange tint - a quality present purely due to personal preference.

Sonny folds his arms and, in a low growl without any obviously divine qualities to it, begins to speak. "O'Keanu is telling the truth, and I know that because I am his companion, like he said. Anyways, first of all, you should let your people know it's safe to come out now. Of course, they'll be able to hear him whether they're hiding or not, but it'll be less confusing if they can see him too."

A Dark and Silent Place

It was like suddenly waking from a dream you cannot remember, before the memory of what-is reasserts itself. His first thought to return, with absolute certainty was, "I am Samauth, I am Death." With that a spark of light ignited, becoming a blue flame that danced like candlelight within the cyclopean eye socket of a dull, gray skull. The skeletal figure, clad in a simple gray robe, turned his attention to his now dimly-lit surroundings. He stood in a corridor of unadorned stone brickwork, a pair of unlit torches opposite each other, the only notable feature in sight.

The very instant Samauth thought "That should not be," blue fire leapt into existence, burning brightly in the wall-mounted torches. Their light revealed the hallway in plain detail, including a second set of unlit torches further on. These too ignited when exposed, like workers caught slacking on the job, a chain reaction that continued until the corridor turned out of sight.

The flame of his eye traced the arch of the socket's upper rim, approximating an eye roll. This would take far too long like this. Samauth steadied himself and his flame's intensity began to surge, overtaking most of his face. As the Death God's consciousness pulsed outwards the halls of Valdash trembled, triggering cascades of ancient dust from the walls and ceiling. The stone was his body and every relit torch was an open eye. Aware of all they illuminated, Samauth could see his Seers and Overseers frozen in place. Of the souls of the dead, there was no trace.

The severity and scale of the problem only grew. The limits of his perception revealed that this was only a small fragment of Valdash, as though great hands had reached down and simply scooped up a portion of his heavenly sphere. From his awareness of the surface, Samauth could see no sign of the starlit Darkness his world looked out upon at all times. This emptied-out chunk of a planet was surrounded by an endless cloudy sky.

Samauth willed himself to the surface and now stood there, clad in his scarred metal armor. All around him was a field of blue, star-shaped flowers, their pale luminescence lost in this unnatural daylight. The surface of Valdash was Samauth's garden, his paradise. No mortal soul was permitted to stand upon it. Now the very sky had been stolen away somehow. Determined to get to the bottom of this, Samauth took a step, as if ascending an invisible staircase through the air. With every step he grew in size, fitting a more godly scale as he left his world.

The World of the Gods, Fountain of Creation Pavilion

From the World of the Gods, Valdash resembled a cutaway model of a planet, designed to reveal the layers of crust and mantle to inquisitive minds. Valdash's surface was a dark, slightly iridescent gray. Its crust was thick and cold, with only the deepest reaches of this slab's underside possessing the glow of molten magma. This all sat like a museum display piece, upon a drifting cloud.

In less than the span of an eyeblink, Samauth would grow from a microscopic speck upon that rock, to a stature more befitting a meeting of gods. Even then, the armored skeleton was a tall figure. The blue flame of his eye crackled as he took in the sights around him.

"Whoever did this, you have my undivided attention," spoke Samauth, sounding calmer than the blazing fire would imply. "What is the meaning of this?"

Higher beings, these words are for you alone.

"Thats the plan yes."

He responded dryly but without a hint of malice or any other unsavory undertones the guy is just dry at talking. His attention was at the magic geyser if he could use it as a forge who knows what he could create with its magical properties so he would appear at 012.004 with his forged ones accompanying him. The fairy trees (013.018)

Tarna nodded, her wings glistening with light. She didn't like the idea of mortals in this realm, but she was glad they seemed to be fish people who wouldn't cut trees, burn things, or get in the way of her forests.

"The fish people are none of my concern," Tarna explained. "As long as they do not disturb my woodlands, they mean nothing to me." She fluttered towards a patch of flowers, moving towards a couple of butterflies near some flowers. She flapped her wings a couple times, raining dust on the butterflies. She seemed to be exerting herself more than she normally would, as her wings shimmered brightly and changed colors more quickly. Most of the butterflies scattered, but one started to shimmer much like her, growing in size. It ended up roughly the size of a small car, but otherwise looked very similar to Tarna's current form.

"I am entrusting the oversight of these trees to you, Rainbow Butterfly," Tarna told it. Then she turned to address the fairies. "Direct your prayers to me, your concerns and requests will be heard by the Rainbow Butterfly on my behalf. She will protect you as I will and keep watch over these sacred woodlands. I am needed elsewhere." She turned to her consort who was still flittering nearby in the form of a fairy. "Come, Ruviel."

"Yes, My Lady," Ruviel responded, fluttering after her, as the two of them flew north.

Out in the cold desert, (011.006) almost dawn, with Theri.

Theri would appear either standing on or floating above a snowy landscape, where a chill wind was blowing. Out North and West, she could see woodlands in the distance, and signs of hills South West, and farther away North East. Immediately around though, there was nothing but gentle sand dunes, all covered in a thin layer of snow.

Out North by Northeast, the magic geyser was clearly visible; or rather, the massive pillar of magic it was spewing into the sky was clearly visible, shifting through all colors of the rainbow. It dissipated up in the atmosphere, leaving glowing trails of magic which were creating a radiant display in the sky. Though, it was already starting to dim from the sunlight rising from the Southern horizon.

The only creature around was some kind of snow fox, which had been casually trotting over one of the sand dunes. It paused when it saw Theri, looking mildly alert, but also unsure what to make of her. Its eyes were glowing with a green light as it stared at her, waiting to see what she would do.

World of the gods, Arcellex's sphere, with Arcellex.

Cato nodded as Arcellex congratulated the plans that he and his bee queens had undertaken. "I thought that perhaps stalling you out for a few more decades might give you the time you needed to find that which you were looking for," the eldest god remarked, in a bit of a teasing tone, before sharing in the toast and finishing off his own glass of wine.

When Arcellex then asked about the other gods gathering at the fountain of creation, Cato shook his head. "Not like the game we do, no. Simply the emergence of a new mortal world from the fountain, and those who have gathered to see about shaping it, or laying claim upon it," he explained, holding up his now empty wine glass, which the queen bee took. She would then fly a little forward and, if Arcellex allowed, take the glass from him as well. With either just the one glass or with both, the queen bee would then hurry back to the fountain, intent on returning them to the Lovelies.

"You are welcome to take part as well, of course; don't think I haven't noticed some of your influence already upon it... Though, I can't promise that the others will be as light hearted and good sports as we are with each other. You know that some of the others take these things very seriously, after all," Cato explained, or rather more reminded Arcellex, since the arcane god should know those facts already. "As for who has shown interest, well, I don't think you've met any of them personally, but I know you're familiar with the types. First was Meowing, a goddess of cats. Then Tarna, a goddess of nature. Theri, a young goddess of love who did not yet exist before you last descended. O'Keanu, a god of oceans. Stella, a goddess of wine and revelry who I got those drinks from..." The eldest god trailed off, then leaned a little closer to Arcellex and added more quietly, "though I'm not sure if she's there to take part with the mortal world, or simply to share her drinks."

Cato then stood back up straight, and continued. "Lastly Galius, a god of the forge... Though, I think there may still be others yet to come, as well as some other surprises..." The eldest god watched with a curious expression, seeing the large, armored skeleton go into the pavilion. "Including at least one I have not yet met, it seems. If you'll excuse me, Arcellex, I must attend to this," Cato said with a little bow of his head, then took a step forward and vanished in a swirl of cloudy mist.

Ebrinada Dynasty capital, (005.019) almost dawn, with O'Keanu.

Tomasa narrowed her eyes slightly, clearly doubtful of O'Keanu's assurance that he meant no harm. She also was not stupid enough to fail to notice the connection between the orange squid that had previously been orbiting O'Keanu, and the sudden appearance of this oddly-orange Ebrinada.

Though she made no other aggressive move yet, Tomasa moved her sword from pointing at O'Keanu in a nearly meaningless gesture, to pointing it at Sonny, since he now presented a (relatively) more vulnerable target. "And why should I jeopardize the safety of my people on only your word?" she asked, mostly rhetorically, in a stern tone. "I will not order them to gather where they can be more easily consumed by a kraken without some further assurance. Even one that claims to be a... 'God' thing," the queen continued, the word coming out a bit difficult and awkward for her, since it did not exist in her mind just minutes before.

The immediate area of the palace and city around them was nearly empty by now, save for a few groups of the braver guards, who were trying to stay hidden within the buildings where they thought O'Keanu wouldn't notice them. They moved carefully when they thought he wouldn't be paying attention, moving to try to get closer to his resting tentacles, probably waiting for an opportunity to strike. Crowds of Ebrinada, terrified yet determined to see what would happen to their queen, were gathering at what they thought was a safe enough distance to give them a head start if the massive octopus suddenly started to move towards them.

World of the gods, fountain of creation pavilion, with Samauth (and others).

The queen bee zipped in, to return the empty glass (or glasses) to one of the Lovelies, and right afterward was when Samauth suddenly walked in and spoke. The queen bee moved back slightly, a little worriedly, then replied in a squeaky, feminine voice, "did what? Who are you?"

"That is certainly a good question," then said Cato, as he reappeared at the edge of the pavilion in another swirl of cloud mist, off to Samauth's side. The eldest god walked in calmly, looking at the newcomer with a friendly, curious expression. "Definitely a fellow god, but new here if I'm not mistaken," he noted, and stopped close to the armored skeleton, tilting his head. "Though it would seem you are also... Hmm, how curious... So, dear fellow, if you would be so kind; please, tell us who you know yourself to be."

The magic geyser, (012.004) almost dawn, with Galius.

Galius and his forged ones would appear in a thick pine forest, blanketed with snow. In front of them was the geyser itself, essentially a round fissure in the earth some fifty feet across, which was shooting a shifting rainbow kaleidoscope of magic energy straight upwards, high up into the atmosphere. Thus it was casting an ever-shifting array of colored light into the forest, and up this close to it, the light was overpowering the distant sunrise in the South, making it only faintly visible on the horizon at most.

Various animals in the forest, each with glowing eyes of different colors, peered curiously and/or warily towards the god and his entourage. None of the animals dared to approach them.

The fairy trees, (013.018) almost dawn, with Tarna.

While some of the fairies cared more about continuing to feed on the fruits than what Tarna had to say, many did look up and pay attention. It was more because she had provided the fruits than any sort of real reverence, though. After she then departed, they looked between each other and mostly shrugged, or wondered what she meant, and why they should care.

Up in the sky, the distant magic geyser could be seen at the far edge of the world, almost directly North. Out North by Northeast, still fairly far away, there was a wide spread of jungles and hills, at the far side of which there was a storm brewing. Even at this great distance, Tarna's divine senses would know that it was definitely no natural storm, being instead made by some kind of arcane energy.
