Hmm. I figured we'd be revisiting Japan at some point, but I wasn't expecting her to wake up there. (Gonna go out on a limb and guess the first chapter wasn't actually a dream.) Not to put too fine a point on it, but I have to wonder whether it's entirely wise for Jocelyn to spend too much time in modern (er, nineties?) Japan, especially in a comic starring a closeted lesbian.

My posts make considerably more sense read in the voice of John Ratzenberger. It’s actually the early 2000s. But anyways, could you elaborate? What makes you think it’s a little odd for the story to spend time in modern Japan?
The main character being a closeted lesbian in early ‘00s Japan I do sort of do get. But taking place in modern Japan in general? What exactly is a little strange about it?

Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectDunno, just a general sense there's always a level of risk in writing real-world settings you're not familiar with.
My posts make considerably more sense read in the voice of John Ratzenberger.Alright, that does sound like a reasonable concern. I do trust Lynn to do some basic research on 2000s Japanese social culture. She's mainly fleshing out the other world anyways.

(Yes, on the one hand, I know that there are countless analogues to "stamps," but on the other hand, there is roughly zero chance that Jocelyn has not seen The Owl House.)
My posts make considerably more sense read in the voice of John Ratzenberger.Jocelyn's said that she's seen The Owl House but stated that symbols and stamps predated her watching it.
Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectWith this followup page, "stamps" appear to function less like glyphs and Luz's substitute for not being inherently magical and more like just Magitek.

So the first chapter for My Impossible Soulmate is finished. It's a romantic Isekai fantasy about girl named Chiaki, who has a crush on her best friend Fumiko. She's suddenly transported to another world. It's written by the same author who wrote Rain (2010), in fact it's kind of a prequel to it but a fairly standalone one.
I'd like to hear your thoughts on it and provide plenty of constructive criticisms if you have them. See what aspects of the comic you'd like to see improve and if you've got any theories you can post it here too.
You can read it on Comic Fury or Tapas.
