Here, you'll find explanations of the criteria for the trope as well as our rules/procedures for approving and cutting candidates.
What goes through this thread?
- Cut requests. If you believe a MB has been approved and they do not count, this thread is where you propose their removal. To know how to go about this, please see the FAQ folder on the Administrivia page, where the process is explained in detail.
- If we ever need to consider cutting multiple examples without individually reviewing them (e.g. if we discover widespread plagiarism with a particular troper's MBs), the initial discussion will be on this thread and we'll then escalate to the mod team (as described here) to get a formal consensus if we decide to recommend a mass cut.
- If an entry was put on the wrong subpage/YMMV page, you may propose where they should be moved to.
- Full rewrites of existing entries, including expansions, trims, and ground-up rewrites. If your rewrite is approved by the thread, feel free to add it to the drafts page so that other users can check grammar and the like before it is included with the rest of the weekly swaps.
- If an entry on a work's YMMV page doesn't match the entry on the media subpage, you can bring it here to discuss which entry works better.
What does not go through this thread?
- New candidate proposals - as stated before, those are done on this thread.
- Unapproved wicks - if a Troper encounters either of these kinds of wicks, they can be cut with no approval.
- Any MB link on a non-YMMV page - as a YMMV trope, it should not be linked on those pages regardless of any cleanup effort. The only exception is if the wick is being used within the definition of another trope.
- If an MB link on a YMMV page refers to an unapproved character. If it refers to an approved character on any such page, the wick can stay. On the other hand, if the unapproved character being linked to sounds like they might have promise (and you don't feel like checking it out for yourself), feel free to mention it on the approval thread - someone may already know why they don't count, or it could invite a brand new discussion!
- Proposals for images, quotes, and videos of already-approved MBs - quotes and images are proposed on the approval thread, while videos can be uploaded normally as they are screened for approval by the moderation.
- Crosswicking examples to YMMV pages - if an example has already been approved and added to the main page, you do not require any special permission to add the example to a work's YMMV page (assuming the work has a page already). If a YMMV page doesn't exist yet, then you can make it yourself, but either way, feel free to just add the example without asking.
- Small changes to existing entries - these can simply be done on a Troper's own prerogative with no approval.
- Spelling and grammar fixes.
- Pothole changes.
- Minor rewordings.
- Spoiler tags.
While these changes do not require any kind of approval, it is requested that should you make any of these changes, you do one of the following:
- Make the same changes on the relevant Sandbox page, then add the Sandbox to the list at the bottom of the drafts page. This will add the Sandbox to the weekly swaps and ensure that the edits end up on the relevant locked page. If the Sandbox is already listed, then once you make the edits, your job is already done!
- If you don't know how the Sandboxes work or simply don't have the time to find it, then you can simply post on the thread about the changes you made. Someone else can then make the edit on the relevant Sandbox and add it to the weekly swaps.
- Alternatively, you can simply request that the change be made directly to the locked page on the Locked Pages thread. Members of this thread keep track of that one, so we will ensure that the changes are made in the Sandbox so that it doesn't get deleted during the next swap.
Again, these changes don't require any approval, but we prefer to keep the entries on the YMMV pages and the locked pages the same in order to avoid any miscommunication or errors between entries, so if you do make the change, we would greatly appreciate it if you could ensure the change is made on the locked page as well.
As a final note, we do not care what other sites have to say regarding whether or not a character counts. We have our own criteria and they have theirs for their MB equivalents; while they are similar, they are not exactly the same and should not be treated as such. Another site removing a character from their equivalent should not be a reason why a cut is proposed here, and if this is the case, it will likely lead to mod intervention.

Alright, so it's been more than 2 weeks since season 3 of The Cuphead Show!, so once again it's time to talk Ms. Chalice.
TDLR, I'm saying she still keeps, If mostly for her actions in the finale. Despite being threatened with death (again) by The Devil and initially going along out of fear, she quickly defies him by tricking him into a dance-off, one that she only loses due to a freak accident, and accepts her seeming loss and death with dignity. Considering she does all of this just to keep the Cups out of danger, I'd say that's admirable enough to keep her dignity. Otherwise, she still doesn't go through nearly as much slapstick as the others and still gets away with her crimes, so she's also good there.
Nobody else counts tho. The Devil is now as far from this trope as humanly possible, King Dice is still a Butt-Monkey even if he gets a happy ending, and there isn't really any new villains introduced.

Also I asked a question and if candidates already approved and on the pending MB write-up list can have their write-ups created here since they're already approved and according the Mod MarconNotes (correct me if I'm wrong) they said that its okay, so to anyone who has their candidate approved and waiting to write-up them up feel free bring them up here.
The MILF Virus
Alright sure, this was the 2nd to last candidate approved before the thread was stopped so I never had a chance to put her up so:
- Cat's Eye: Rui Kisugi, the eldest sister of Cat's Eye is the groups's master strategist and seducer. Alluring as she is intelligent, Rui is a master of using her beauty to get key intel her team needs for their daring heist, planning the crime near flawlessly regardless of security and opposition, while setting up fallacy plans whenever someone is close to their identity. While as the parental figure to her sisters, Rui is able to care for their well-being, keeping the group together and maintaining their infamous reputation till the end where they manage to accomplish their goal of finding their missing father.

- DragonFable:
- "Light Orb Saga" Zhoom is a renowned Bounty Hunter and considered the world's most dangerous ranger. He is willing to undertake any job so long as he got paid, while abiding by a strict Code of Honour that he would always fulfill his contract. Hired by the tyrannical Sek-Duat XV to capture the members of La Resistance, Zhoom successfully captures around 90 rebels before the Hero's arrival to the Sandsea. Immediately aware that the Hero had allied with the rebels, Zhoom played along with the Hero's Double Agent act due to enjoying the additional challenge, while keeping Sek-Duat clueless on who the real traitor is. Remaining loyal to Sek-Duat only to abide by his code, Zhoom relentlessly goes after the Hero once Sek-Duat agrees to pay him. Upon discovers Sek-Duat broke the contract first, Zhoom wastes no time joining forces with the Hero to defeat the tyrant and free the captured rebels. Learning the value of fighting for what is right, Zhoom becomes one of the Hero's most trusted allies.
- "Death Knight": Sir Bram Malifact was once a heroic Paladin who discovered a cursed ring that transformed him into a Death Knight. Becoming Drunk on the Dark Side, Sir Malifact embraced who he had become and betrayed his former friends. Unable to permanently kill a Death Knight due to his Resurrective Immortality, his friends halted his revival by scattering his belongings, leaving him a disembodied ghost haunting the tomb. As a ghost, Malifact would manipulate any adventurer who stumbled upon the tomb, pretending to be a tormented soul with Ghost Amnesia and requested help in restoring his memories by collecting his items. Sir Malifact is also happy to train the Hero when they seek to become a Death Knight, treating them as an equal in their quest for power.

Guess I will post mine as well
Genshin Impact: Zhiyi is the pupil of Uncle Tian, desiring to become the successor of Tian’s position, he made a deal with the Fatui by slowly worsening Tian’s health with poison by using fish soup’s favour to hide the one of poison, even turning it from lethal to slow-affecting, meanwhile feeling remorse over such betrayal. Knowing that the Fatui will just use him as a puppet, he tricked the Fatui ambassador Yuspupov’s minions with rumours of treasure at Qingxu Pool and captured them. Later tricking Yuspupov into drinking a poison wine meanwhile secretly collaborating with Yuspupov’s power hungry right hand. Spending the majority of the time of the Story Quest in planning ahead of Yelan and the Traveler, Zhiyi comes very close in becoming Tian’s successor meanwhile cutting loose end. After being exposed and imprisoned, Yelan mentions him being very cooperative.

Alrighty, with things slowly returning to normal, allow me to drop off some long-awaited write-ups.
- Freedom Planet 2: Corazon “Cory” Tea, Carol’s older sister, is a thrill-seeking pirate working for Queen Merga in her plan to awaken Bakunawa and destroy the moon. A skilled plunderer who regularly uses her hundreds of drones to distract people and steal countless items, Cory often uses deception to escape from her opponents. With a genuine love for her sister, Cory hopes Merga leaves her alive for when Avalice is eventually in ruin, and even attempts to sacrifice herself to save her upon Merga’s betrayal.
- Donkey Kong 64: Snide was once King K. Rool’s chief technician who helped him create the Blast-O-Matic to destroy DK Isle, but when he was fired by K. Rool out of paranoia, Snide sought revenge. Secretly collaborating with the Kongs to put a stop to K. Rool’s plans, Snide is able to stall the Blast-O-Matic’s firing process long enough for them to stop the machine and eventually ensure K. Rool’s defeat.
- The Monster Squad: Count Dracula is a wickedly smart vampire who seeks a mythical amulet to plunge the world in darkness and reign supreme. Hiding out for a century after Abraham Van Helsing’s botched attempt to defeat him, Dracula summons his gang of monsters to help him track down the amulet. Going under the name Alucard, Dracula’s able to find the amulet in the mansion he rented out, and when the Monster Squad storm his castle and steal it from him, Dracula retaliates by destroying their treehouse lair and unleashing his monsters all throughout town. Undeterred in his quest for the amulet, even after his plans have been foiled despite coming so close to achieving them, Dracula still tries to take Sean with him as he’s being sucked inside the wormhole.
There are a small factual problems with this entry from A Song of Ice and Fire page
- The current Three-Eyed Raven, human name Brynden, is the memory of humanity and sworn enemy of the Night King. Setting the stage for Brandon "Bran" Stark to take up his mantle, the Raven sends him visions to bring him on a perilous quest North where he begins mentoring Bran. When Bran unwittingly brings the Night King to his hidden cave, the Raven sacrifices himself as well as a man whose mind he broke, all done to bring about the ultimate destruction of the dead.
Unlike the books it was never established in the show Three-Eyed Raven's real name is Brynden.
He can't be current Raven since Bran became one in show.

Heres mine.
- Because You Love To Hate Me: James "Jim" Moriarty from "Shirley & Jim" is a charming bad boy who desires to destroy the current political system of rules and order. Jim is suave and cunning and is able to effortlessly break into the school in order to get the secrets contained in their emails out to the public. Manipulating Shirley Holmes, Jim effortlessly gets her to help him hack into the email address of a friend of hers who's a senator, leading to a damaging info leak that will help hasten his dream of a world without the current rules.
- The Imperfects: "Isabel Finch" is the alter ego of Dr. Sydney Burke, created by an experimental gene therapy. Finch is a cunning genius who sets out to fulfill Burke's desires, manipulates Hannah Moore into helping get info on Burke's rivals and then picks them off. Realising that Dr. Dominique Crain is using them, Finch helps convince Burke to team up with her and sets out to perform a genius escape from captivity. Finch later manipulates her way into the good graces of Dr. Alex Sarkov in order to try and become the dominant personality of Burke's mind. Seemingly defeated, Finch simply bides her time, is now fully in control of Burke's mind and has disposed of Crain and taken her position.
Also if we're using this space for quick notes I'll have a few to discuss from the FMA movies and I'll leave Lighty the floor if he'd like to make some comments on the finale of House of the Dragon's first season.
RWBY: Arrowfell isn't on the discussion list, so mind if I discuss it? Shouldn't be a long one.

Okay, this will be quick: Nobody counts in Arrowfell
- Big Bad Bram Thornmane does manipulate a bunch of people in an elaborate conspiracy to bring down Ironwood, but his motive for hating Ironwood is ridiculously petty (he's salty that Ironwood didn't make him an Ace-Op) and he's starts ranting and raving when he's being arrested, he's like a less charismatic Watts in this regard.
- Team BRIR don't do anything beside attack team RWBY once after they got tricked by Thornamne into thinking they were the ones stealing tech from the classified fort they were guarding and are really indignant after RWBY beats them.
- Lt.Col. Olive Harper is Thornmane's mole on the inside, but she only helped him because he duped her into thinking he was helping the people instead of feeding his ego and we don't really see her do anything other than sending after some of their associates hoping they'd lose their trail.
- Hanlon Fifestone is a union leader helping them but he does nothing but use his semblance to extract people's fears so they can be used to attract Grimm, also has a little rant while he's being arrested as well.
- And there's Amonico Glass, an Arms Dealer helping Thornmane, but he's a massive smug coward.
So yeah, every single character in this game does not come close to counting.
