We have determined that Lets Players are not inherently tropable. They need to provide some sort of narrative, characters, and story to be allowed on this wiki. This applies to Vtubers just as much as other content creators, but Kayfabe makes the distinction between streamer and character particularly fuzzy.
The purpose of the thread is to remove tropes from pages concerning Vtubers that apply only to the actor rather than the character.
- If there is not a clear separation between the character and the actor, we assume that it is the actor represented, and thus they are not tropable.
- In other words, it is up to the user writing the example to show that it pertains to the character and not the actor.
- Regardless, the content they produce must meet our standards for Web Video, meaning substantial original and/or transformative material.
- A vlog, review, or Let's Play does not become tropable just because the person doing it has an anime avatar.

PLEASE do not argue over the guidelines here. We've been through that argument too many times and it slows the cleanup effort down. Asking if some grey area meets the guidelines is okay. Arguing that the guidelines should be changed are not. If you would like to discuss the guidelines, go to the Real-Person Troping Policy thread.

A'ight, I'll cut it from Characters.V Shojo while the discussion continues about the others.
Would it be ok to start a new Tropes page for Maid Mint since she's just returned more or less in the same manner as Dokibird? Wanted to double check here before I started anything for real.
Nijisanji has an entry for Abusive Workplace, and I can't tell if its an in universe example or not, since it opens with 'Nijisanji has faced accusations of being this in the past', and Tsukino Mito acknowledges them in a joking manner as a Black Company.
"I know we'll make it cause somehow, the universe is fun now!" ~SanaI think that entry would be more at home in Harsher in Hindsight alongside Overshadowed by Controversy once the black stream hits the six months mark.
"They played us like a DAMN FIDDLE!" — Kazuhira Miller, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom PainThis sounds like some in-joke, but when something is ambiguous, we operate on "better safe than sorry".
~WM-R Is "2018 Nijisanji Resistance" some sort of impromptu event? If it's not real, the example isn't really clear about that, and if it is, then it wouldn't sound like company's content.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupMaid Mint can get a page, but her situation is a little different from Dokibird that I don't think it's appropriate to be open with her past life on the page at this point in time?
It's not really needed anyway, pages should be directly relevant to content in question.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupOh yeah page would be too short. Still we can't stop her information from being listed somewhere on the site.
Found a fan-art post that gave just a little extra context to Nijisanji Resistance; it's both serious and a joke (if the toilet paper bit is any indication), with the group actually being more of a union. As to whether or not it's tropable, I can't say...
"I know we'll make it cause somehow, the universe is fun now!" ~Sana^
Yes, from what I've looked up myself, it was described in joking terms for the most part but was also serious in that it was affecting morale.
At a casual glance at the Vtubers wiki, there were 12 members including Shiina, but nowadays (as of 2022) is used as a duo named for Shiina and Chaika since it became inactive circa 2018.
At the very least, it was very different from the Hololive Resistance which was pretty tongue-in-cheek.
Oh! I believe I found the clip that caused me to add that tidbit of Mito jokingly referring to Nijisanji as a black company... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptFCANWmM4w
Perhaps the wording could've been better? In that clip it seems more like she genuinely saw Nijisanji as being a "super black company" but laughs about it now.
I'm very convinced that Nijisanji as a whole qualifies as an example of Fanwork-Only Fans, but I an very concerned about the overlap it might have with the smoking gun that was the Selen Tatsuki termination which is very much prohibited on Nijisanji's YMMV page so by all means I cannot in good faith add the example unless someone can tell me what proper context to use for the example.

"Some people are damaged. Some people are really damaged. And then... some people are broken."You try posting it here first to see what people say? I have to admit I'm not that familiar with Nijisanji in terms of what kind of fanart etc they inspire.
No, they posted the issue first in the General VTuber thread and got rebuked there.
"They played us like a DAMN FIDDLE!" — Kazuhira Miller, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom PainIsn't "rebuked" a bit harsh of a word to use here? I did not bring up anything about what I'd possibly write in the YMMV page there, but it is very clear with what you said here that the idea will not get past planning stage, even though I had wrote that on the pretense that Nijisanji's JP branch would've count for it for me too. Oh well.

"Some people are damaged. Some people are really damaged. And then... some people are broken."Would Mama Lillie (Ollie's Mom) or Mama Shiela (Kobo's Mom) veer into real-life troping? They appear to be notable enough within the VTuber community that they're instantly recognizable, but I'm unsure if they're on the level of Mama Mori, Pekomama, or Mamarissa as to whether tropes can apply to them or not.
I think they’d need some 100% fictional lore attached to them first, like Calli’s Mom having Reaper lore or Nerissa’s family being explicitly demons.

On that note, could I ask what's the current Standard Operating Procedure when dealing with stuff like Previous Lives?
For example, at the moment under Open Secret there's a bit where only Dokibird is explicitly described as being Selen, whereas with Pomu there's only mention of "her IRL account" or something. Would it be poor form to add mention of Mint Fantome? I remember that with K Son On-Air, her section only mentions "she worked as a corporate Vtuber" and Henya's likewise makes no mention of Pikamee (despite a couple of clips I've run into online being ones where people accidentally refer to Henya as Pikamee).
IIRC the ruling was that—unless it's worked into their lore—any mentioning of Past Lives veers into IRL troping. I could be mistaken, though.
That's fair. As far as I'm aware, Dokibird is really the only big case I can think of where someone outright points at their PL and goes, "This is me!"
Even someone like K Son, who I don't think cares very much about whether people knew who she was previously, ever went so far as to say, "Yeah, that was me."
Open Secret is an in-universe trope marked No Real Life Examples, Please!. Thus, it cannot be used to discuss the identities behind fictional personas, which are inherently Trivia.

I don't see No Real Life Examples Please in the description?

This was just added to Nijisanji EN: XSOLEIL:
- Fair-Weather Friend: [Kotoka] was going along well with Zaion, even hanging out with her IRL, but when things went sour witb management for Zaion, she didn't hesitate to cut ties with her claiming Zaion was having interpersonal disputes with the other livers.
It's an index. See NoRealLife.Tropes L To O at the bottom.
Cut.

TroperWall / WikiMagic Cleanup
This may be a deeper issue what even counts as The Team, but I think it's fair to say that the agency doesn't count, but individual gens would if there's an written excuse of some kind.
