Anti-Gnosis Weapon
#1: Jul 31st 2022 at 10:30:42 PM

NOTE: No prior knowledge of the AGOG series of RPs is required to sign up or participate in this RP.

NOTE 2: Signups are currently semi-closed, except for current players and people I personally approach. 20, soon to be 22 or 23 players is plenty.

Yet another spinoff to the stupidly long-lasting A Game of Gods series, Season 4 is a world-building sandbox simulator crossover game that takes its cues from the older games on this board, especially the Multi Massive Fandom series. In particular, this is a reboot of AGOG S3: Frontiers. Rather than only allowing players to sign up as ground-level free agent characters as in the original, however, I will also be allowing players to sign up as entire territories, as that is what Frontiers ended up developing into anyway as time went on.

This new world will be a weird mish-mash of transplanted locales from both established media as well as more original creations. Free agents are not quite starting at sticks and stones levels, seeing as there will be plenty of finished products and modern amenities to go around, so a significant part of the game would be in the freedom of crafting a society from whole cloth - or joining up with one of the populated territories that have been transported to the planet.

The key points of the game are geared towards interactions between players and societies from foreign universes, as well as societal rebuilding to a certain degree. Likewise, there will be plenty of threats that will need to be dealt with to keep what you've accomplished safe, though even then you have the freedom to either fight/tame/negotiate/ally with the opposition should you want.

Would your characters want to help the NPC masses reclaim land to further their communities? Fight the hordes of ne'er-do-wells intent on taking lives and supplies from the honest workers? Negotiate treaties and alliances between fellow players? Or even wage war against the world at large? Construct laboratories in the middle of nowhere to conduct MAD SCIENCE? Maybe even found a chain of fast food restaurants to build a business empire emboldened by grease and minimum wage workers? The possibilities are nigh endless, though do keep in mind that actions might carry consequences and there will be reactions both good and bad to certain actions and events in an attempt to keep the game feeling organic.

Probably for ease of imagination you can think of Frontiers as a freakish mashup of Animal Crossing, Civilization, Age Of Empires, and Harvest Moon, plus whatever sort of crazy franchises you pull your characters from.

    Rules (Required Reading)
  • 0) As GM, I have final say in all disputes between players and each other or myself pertaining to the RP. I am a generally mellow person who would prefer not to exercise this rule, so please make a genuine effort to find agreement with other players before you appeal to me to bring down the hammer.
  • 1) I reserve the right to bar and/or ban any player or potential player from the RP or reject any signup for any reason other than said individual's sexuality, gender, religion, race, or nationality, including past experience in other RPs or my whim. For example, if I learn that you are an emotionally abusive, manipulative asshole, I will ban you from the RP, even if you have not been an emotionally abusive, manipulative asshole toward someone who is a member of this RP.
  • 2) Original Characters and settings will be allowed, provided that they be based in some form of official, published media. For example, your tabletop character or setting based upon a published tabletop ruleset is acceptable to submit. An OC from the universe of the Percy Jackson series of books is also acceptable to submit. OCs and settings made up out of whole cloth with no official, published setting or framework will not be accepted.
  • 3) The maximum character limit for all players (which may change in the future) will be two free agent groups and one territory. Characters who were migrated from another RP (i.e. our merger with Battleworld 2.0) do not count towards this limit.
  • 4) I will attempt to be flexible with powerlevels and will usually attempt to work with you regarding any nerfs that I feel are necessary. However, please be reasonable and do not powergame or godmod. Furthermore, if you forget to list something significant on your signup, your character or territory will be without it unless I approve its addition. If you violate these tenets, I will take appropriate action, up to the point of banning you from the RP.
  • 5) The maximum allowable initial geographic size of player character territories will be dependent on the extent of their urbanization. Heavily urbanized or metropolitan territories may be at most about twice the geographic size of Manhattan, New York. Mostly suburban territories may be at most about four times the size of Manhattan, and mostly rural or sparsely populated territories may be at most about sixteen times the size of Manhattan. Please give the question of your territory's size careful consideration, and do not attempt to bite off more than you can chew in this regard.
  • 6) As in the original Frontiers, Player Characters will still obtain wish-granting tablets periodically.
    • 6a) In the case of duos, only one character, of the player's choice, will obtain a tablet.
    • 6b) In the case of territories, however, only the chosen primary main character will obtain a tablet, and as they are representative of an entire territory, they will be allowed greater leeway in the subject and/or potency of their wishes. Free agent Player Characters may also obtain these more powerful tablets if they come to control sufficient territory and/or masses of people (I will leave the exact volume of territory or people required purposefully vague; fulfillment of this condition will occur at my discretion).
    • 6c) In the case of groups of free agents, only the primary character, i.e. the character listed at the top of the group's signup, will obtain a tablet. Ex: out of "Minako Arisato and the S.E.E.S.", only Minako will obtain a tablet.
    • 6d) As in the original Frontiers, I, the GM, will decide when and to whom tablets are sent, and wishes must be approved by me before happening. Characters will be more likely to obtain tablets if they foster cooperation and/or conflict between people of different universes.
  • 7) I shouldn't have to say this, but don't be an asshole to me or your fellow players.
  • 8) Prospective players must be willing to join the RP's dedicated Discord chat server for planning and coordination purposes, as we will not be using a discussion thread.
  • 9) I reserve the right to change these rules from time to time, and will notify players when I do.

  • Powers/Abilities: Things that your character can do that are often supernatural in scope. The GM reserves the right to nerf or outright veto any particular power/ability deemed either inappropriate or in need of weakening.
  • Skills: Things your character can do without needing supernatural assistance i.e. martial arts, knowing how to construct things, etc.
  • Equipment: What do they have on hand?
  • Territory/Followers: Territory corresponds to property that has been claimed by certain character(s) under their owner/stewardship, with a particular example being say... the Animal Crossing Villager having a house. Followers on the other hand are NPC units that willingly (or not) follow a PC through either contract, employment, strong-arming, etc to help further their goals and act in their interests.

    Territory
  • Name of the Territory:
  • Universe of Origin:
  • Description: Tell me what this territory is. Is it a city, a village, a mountain range, an undersea base, a spaceship, an underground mole city? Consider this the 'appearance' of the territory. Tell me the size, the borders, the general look and feel of the place. Pictures are appreciated.
  • Contents/Locations: What can one find in this territory? If it's a city, what important buildings are there- banks, government agencies, armories, temples, dragon caves, the throne of the blood god, that kind of stuff. No need to tell me every apartment this place has, just the important things. Consider this the 'equipment' of the territory.
  • Specialties: Does your territory have any special rules? Does every human in this territory have to speak backwards? Is gravity tilted to the side in this place? Do rocks have sentience? These aren't rules created by the population, like 'don't litter', but more rules of reality. Consider this the 'powers' of the territory. If there are no specialties to your territory- AKA it's just like real life- just put in 'nothing'.
  • Population: Tell me about the people who were unfortunately dragged along with your characters to the planet. This is necessary, because territory management will involve taking care of the people who live in your territory, people who move to your territory from others, etc. You will have to provide for them, whip them into an army, build new homes and so much more, so me knowing how the people in your world live their daily lives is essential. Also, give me an approximate number of how many people are there in your territory.

I am, in fact, considering allowing OCs, although my strong preference is for canon characters from existing, published works.

Also, ya'll don't have to reiterate the entire title when you say which you would prefer. Just using "Frontiers" and "Exemplar" is fine; it'll be obvious which you're talking about.

Alright, so: although the combined votes both here and elsewhere I have polled interest are almost evenly divided, I have decided to go with a reboot of Frontiers, which currently has a one vote lead. The basics, although not including every ground rule:

  • Firstly, and crucially, I reserve the right to bar and/or ban any player or potential player from the RP, or reject any signup, for any reason, including my whim.
  • Instead of merely allowing people to sign up as individual free agents, I am also going to allow people to sign up as entire territories, in particular because that is what the original Froniters ended up evolving into anyway.
  • Original Characters and settings will be allowed, provided that they be based in some form of official, published media. For example, your tabletop character or setting based upon a published tabletop ruleset is acceptable to submit. OCs and settings made up out of whole cloth with no official, published setting or framework will not be accepted.
  • The maximum character limit for all players (which may change in the future) will be either two free agents or one territory and one free agent. Pairs of characters who qualify as a duo will count as one character for the purpose of this limit.
  • I will attempt to be flexible with powerlevels and will usually attempt to work with you regarding any nerfs that I feel are necessary. However, please be reasonable and do not powergame. Furthermore, if you forget to list something significant on your signup, your character or territory will be without it unless I approve its addition. If you violate these tenets, I will take appropriate action, up to the point of banning you from the RP.
  • The maximum allowable initial geographic size of player character territories will be dependent on the extent of their urbanization. Heavily urbanized or metropolitan territories may be at most the geographic size of Manhattan, New York. Mostly suburban territories may be at most twice the size of Manhattan, and mostly rural or sparsely populated territories may be at most four times the size of Manhattan. Please give the question of your territory's size careful consideration, and do not attempt to bite off more than you can chew in this regard.
  • As in the original Frontiers, Player Characters will still obtain wish-granting tablets periodically.
    • In the case of duos, only one character, of the player's choice, will obtain a tablet.
    • In the case of territories, however, only the chosen primary main character will obtain a tablet, and as they are representative of an entire territory, they will be allowed greater leeway in the subject and/or potency of their wishes. Free agent Player Characters may also obtain these more powerful tablets if they come to control sufficient territory and/or masses of people (I will leave the exact volume of territory or people required purposefully vague; fulfillment of this condition will occur at my discretion).
    • As in the original Fontiers, I, the GM, will decide when and to whom tablets are sent, and wishes must be approved by me before happening. Characters will be more likely to obtain tablets if they foster cooperation and/or conflict between people of different universes.
  • I have identified many, many potential GM-controlled characters and territories to bring in.... a third of which are some version of Tokyo. Maybe I should make some kind of Tokyo-opolis, haha! Obviously, I'm not bringing in every last idea of mine, so I will wait to see what people sign up as before choosing what I use myself.

Now, for my planning convenience, those of you who are interested in a Frontiers reboot, please state what characters and/or territory you are intending to sign up as, as well as what piece(s) of media they are from. This does not need to be a definitive, final decision. I am simply trying to get a general idea of who wants to sign up as what. Of course, any other questions or comments are also welcome.

At present I plan to play one character as a Free Agent, that being Makura from In Wilder the Beast Doth Lament.

(If you're wondering, it doesn't have a trope page, hence why I linked the above page to prove I'm not making shit up).

  • Name: Makura
  • Age: Early 30s
  • Appearance: "I'd be delighted if you called me Mako-chan!"
  • Universe: In Wilder, the Beast Doth Lament (Kouya ni Kemono Doukokusu)
  • Personality: A bubbly and kindhearted woman, completely the opposite of what you'd expect from a trained soldier. She's passionate and easy to get along with. Though her military years have desensitized her to violence, she never abandoned her morality and generally tries to follow the rules of war; she doesn't kill opponents who have surrendered, doesn't target civilians, and tries to limit casualties and property damage as much as possible. In truth, she views fighting as a necessary evil, and would ideally want a world where things can be resolved peacefully, but she understands that that's not always possible and isn't afraid to fight for what she thinks is right. Having been unable to interact with normal society has left Makura a bit starved for human contact; as a result she's very receptive to physical affection.
  • Backstory:
    • Tomoe Hanuma was a skilled but otherwise normal soldier in the Japanese military, who likely would have been just another soldier, had her skills not been noticed by the legendary soldier and martial artist Yakushimaru Houzan. Houzan was the leader of Zombist, a PMC specializing in black-ops missions for the Hijikata Corporation. Members of Zombist are declared legally dead upon joining - thus they act as 'zombies' that stalk their enemies from beyond the grave.
    • From Zombist, 11 soldiers were chosen to undergo an experimental super-soldier procedure. Derived from an unknown microorganism taken from the brains of a native Papua New Guinea tribe, which caused rampant mutation. The result was 11 soldiers with inhuman strength and bestial abilities, dubbed the 'Dokkaku Soldiers' and given codenames derived from the 12 Heavenly Generals of Buddhist mythology. Tomoe Hanuma was dead, and Makura was born.
    • The other 10 D-Soldiers resented her, however - while they all became monstrous beasts, Makura retained a humanoid form. Additionally, the others developed a craving for human flesh, while Makura did not. Though still co-workers, she drifted away from them emotionally, culminating in a schism with the appearance of Mikado Shumei.
    • Mikado was one of the scientists who had worked on the project, and he'd made a breakthrough - somehow, he'd transformed himself into a superhuman while retaining a human body, allowing him to blend with normal people. He was dubbed the second generation of Dokkaku Soldier, or D2. The original D1 soldiers came to wonder if devouring Mikado's body would allow them to return to their own human forms. Makura opposed this plan.
    • In the end, the D1s were split between various factions in the Hijikata corporation. Makura remained with Zombist, until she met Mikado. Together, they wound up joining forces to defend the native tribe whose bodies had been desecrated to produce the beast soldiers, each of them hoping to atone for their sins.
  • Powers/Abilities:
    • Inhuman Physique: Makura's strength is beyond human. She is capable of putting her fist through sheet metal and throwing a man a hundred feet without effort. She can outrun a cheetah and even sprint up vertical walls with ease. Also, her feet are prehensile.
    • Keen Senses: All of Makura's senses are cranked up to an immense level - she can detect people from miles away, track like a bloodhound, see in infrared and low-light situations, and identify people by scent alone. Her hearing is keen enough to grant her a crude form of echolocation, allowing her to find her way and put up a decent fight even in total darkness. The corollary to this is that she's also vulnerable to things that target the senses (e.g. flashbangs, tear gas).
    • Resilience: Makura's wounds heal noticeably faster than those of a human. Bleeding usually stops within minutes, making it much harder for her to bleed out. Broken bones set themselves and mend more quickly, and even missing body parts will grow back over the course of a few weeks. She's not immortal by any means, but she's certainly harder to kill than a normal person. Also, very good at holding her liquor.
    • Animal Friends: Makura possesses the ability to forge psychic bonds with animals. This power is poorly understood, even by herself, but she knows it requires extensive emotional connection with the animal in question. As a result, she only can utilize this telepathy with her two pet orangutans, Kongara and Seitaka. She can command them from hundreds of meters away and they can relay information to her freely. While they aren't as superhuman as her, it should be noted that orangutans possess extended reach and great strength compared to humans.
  • Skills: Makura is a trained soldier, skilled in both hand-to-hand and the use of most firearms. She's ambidextrous, and can fire accurately with both feet as well as her hands. She also possesses basic knowledge of military tactics, having been involved in a number of covert operations.
  • Equipment: She carries a .50 caliber handgun. Despite the high recoil, she can fire it one-handed with ease.
  • Territory/Followers: None, unless you count orangutans.

What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?

Name: Krillin

Age: Late Thirties to Mid-Forties...? I couldn't really pinpoint his age through wikis.

Appearance: No Hair, No Nose, No Confidence

Universe: Dragon Ball Super, post-Tournament of Power for strictly lore-related reasons (he's a cop, and knows that other universes exist and that there's tons of scary-strong fighters living in them). Obvious and much-needed nerfs featured below.

Personality: Krillin is an incredibly supportive person—which shouldn't be surprising since his role in the series is often to sit on the sidelines and root for his friends. That said, Krillin is also an incredibly gifted martial artist in his own right, and willingly jumps into harm's way to protect others. Over years of fighting uphill battles, Krillin has earned a reputation for fighting with his head as much as his fists; in organized ring matches, he's even bested much stronger opponents by using the environment around him. He holds life as something valuable and precious, and therefore tries his best not to kill his opponents, even if it seems like they will never change. Hey, if someone like Vegeta can stop being a genocidal maniac, there's not a whole lot of people that can't have a change of heart!

As a staple member of the "Waiting for Goku" trope (which owes its name in part to his efforts), Krillin has a habit of using himself as a stalling tactic; if he can hold off this enemy for just a little longer, then the cavalry can arrive and finish the job. Yet despite being "The Strongest Humannote  on Earth," Krillin has developed some big insecurities over the years. Faced against galaxy/universe destroying enemies like Dabura, Majin Buu, and Lord Beerus, Krillin has come to recognize that his own abilities can't even slow the enemies down anymore. This realization has crushed his confidence as a fighter, and only through the support of his best friend Goku and the drive to make his family proud has he been able to inch out of that mindset, and out of retirement.

Although he has trained in martial arts his entire life, Krillin falls in line with half the champions of Universe 7 who believe that training and fighting (and the spoils that come from it) aren't the most important things in life; the others being Master Roshi, Gohan, and Androids 17 and 18. Krillin has a stable job as a police officer, and seems highly regarded in the force as a fearless officer of the law. Now that he finds himself on the Frontiers, Krillin will likely try to resume his duties and join whatever police efforts he stumbles upon.

...He is not making friends with the murderhobos anytime soon.

Krillin is a very expressive person. He is easily startled, frightened, and flustered, and has a habit of speaking in an outside voice a liiiiiiittle too often. While he might try to cover up his anxiety in front of people, he's even less convincing than Mr. Satan. Unless you're dense or just not paying attention, you'll know what he's feeling most of the time.

Backstory: Joining the Turtle School of Martial Arts at the age of 12, Krillin was the first true rival of the Dragon Ball franchise's protagonist: Son Goku. Their rivalry was short lived, and even though he first hated Goku for besting him at every turn, Krillin soon grew to like the young Saiyan, and became his closest and lifelong friend.

As the years went by, the dangers Krillin and Goku faced only grew with them. During the rise of King Piccolo, Krillin was killed by one of the Namekian's children: a warrior named Tambourine. After Goku defeated King Piccolo and used the Dragon Balls to revive Krillin and their teacher, Master Roshi, it was believed that Krillin's chances of being revived were up: Shenron would not grant the same wish twice.

Even so, Krillin continued to train and support Goku and their friends. He trained under Kami, the Guardian of Earth, in order to build downright superhuman feats of agility and strength. Krillin was among the band of Z Fighters who stood to confront the Saiyans Nappa and Vegeta, where only he, Goku, Gohan, and Yajirobe survived the battle. As the last fighter standing, Krillin was moments away from killing a fleeing Vegeta, but was stopped by Goku's pleas to spare him—this act of mercy resulted in a great deal of good fortune later on, and it stuck with Krillin as something to consider when facing a fallen enemy: almost anyone can change, so long as they're offered the chance.

Hoping to revive Kami and their friends with a newly-discovered set of Dragon Balls, Krillin traveled with Bulma and Gohan to Planet Namek. On that alien planet, he met the Grand Elder Guru, who was able to unlock Krillin's hidden ki to boost his power even more. Yet even with his new strength, his enemies—the infamous Ginyu Force—proved to be too powerful for Krillin to face head-on. After a lengthy game of cat-and-mouse, a shaky truce with Vegeta, and a few calls too close for comfort, Goku arrived to help defeat the Ginyu Force for good.

With the Namekian Dragon Porunga, Krillin and Gohan wished for Piccolo's (and subsequently Kami's) revival—just in time for the Evil Emperor Frieza to arrive and attempt to seize the Dragon Balls for himself. Forced into yet another truce with their former enemy Vegeta, the Saiyan Prince faced off against Frieza with the support of Gohan, Krillin, and a fashionably late Piccolo. As the battle turned for the worst, Goku arrived, and complied with Vegeta's dying wish to avenge the Saiyan race. Yet even with a massive amount of energy gathered into a Spirit Bomb, Frieza was too powerful to be stopped. He surprised the exhausted Z Fighters, maimed Piccolo, and killed Krillin in quite an...explosive, display of power. His best friend dead (supposedly for good this time), Goku was sent into an uncontrollable rage, and became the one being Frieza feared: a legendary Super Saiyan.

Krillin was later revived using the Namekian Dragon Balls, and spent much of his time on Earth perfecting his martial arts until a horribly disfigured Frieza arrived on Earth to exact his revenge. Another Super Saiyan appeared to kill the Galactic Emperor for good a while, then warned a late-to-the-party Goku and his friends about an even greater threat arriving three years from now: Androids created by the Red Ribbon Army's mad scientist, Dr. Gero. Krillin trained with the others to prepare for this threat, but when the Z Fighters failed to stop the activation of Androids 17 and 18, Krillin found himself crippled by a technique he'd never seen an enemy use against him before: HOTNESS! With most of his comrades pummeled to a pulp by Androids 17 and 18, Krillin tried to reason with the enemies and talk them out of killing a now bed-ridden Goku. They civilly refused and departed, but not before Android 18 planted a kiss on Krillin's cheek and wished him good luck stopping them.

Unfortunately, the Androids weren't the only monsters the Z Fighters had to deal with; another one of the late Dr. Gero's creations has emerged to wreak havoc on the planet. Krillin saved a few civilians from being absorbed by the bug-like android known as Cell, but (in true Krillin fashion!) could not truly harm the enemy, and was forced to retreat once the civilians were out of harm's way.

Cell's objective appeared to be to absorb Androids 17 and 18 in order to obtain his perfect form. To prevent this from happening after 17 was absorbed, Bulma created a special shutdown switch that would deactivate 18, thus stopping Cell from reaching his goal. Krillin was assigned the task of deactivating Android 18, but when he found her frightened and hiding for her life, Krillin had a change of heart and destroyed the shutdown switch. Unfortunately, Cell found 18 soon afterwards and absorbed her, despite Krillin fighting the monster the entire time. With his Perfect Form realized, Cell lost all interest in fighting such weak opponents, and instead sought to organize an event not unlike the World Martial Arts Tournaments from Goku and Krillin's childhood—The Cell Games.

Krillin's participation in the Cell Games was minimal, but he managed to rescue an unconscious Android 18 after Gohan forced Cell to spit her back out. When the battle was over and the Dragon Balls were used to bring everyone the Andoids and Cell killed back to life (except for Goku, who refused to return), Krillin and Android 18 started a relationship, and eventually got married and had a little girl together.

Over the seven years that passed after the Cell Games, Krillin slipped into retirement to focus on being the best husband and father he could be. An unforeseen problem with this plan was that when trouble finally did arise with the sorcerer Babidi attempting to revive Majin Buu, Krillin was completely shoved aside. He was petrified by the Demon King Dabura's stone spit, and (in his most humiliating death to date) was turned into candy and eaten by Super Buu.

Krillin was forced into the sidelines once again when the God of Destruction Beerus arrived to destroy the Earth. As he watched Goku ascend to an even higher level of power, Krillin had a decision to make. To confirm his decision, he approached Goku one day to ask a peculiar favor: to punch him as hard as he could in the face! With some hesitation, Goku complied. Krillin was sent flying for miles, landing face-first into a boulder. So as Android 18 applied medicine to his black eye, Krillin made the decision to fully retire from martial arts.

Krillin became a police officer, and quickly grew a reputation for being fearless and cool under pressure—luckily, nobody knew that the occasional bank robber was child's play compared to the enemies Krillin faced throughout his life! One day, Goku approached him with a sort of training exercise concocted by Master Roshi. Since Goku dearly wanted to lean a new technique from his old teacher, and Roshi refused to teach it without Krillin's participation, the recently retired martial artist was persuaded to tag along.

The training exercise was to collect a plant called the Paradise Herb that only sprouted on a deserted island, but when Goku and Krillin arrived to search for the herb, they were bombarded by visions of their worst enemies. Faced with the three figures who killed him, Krillin panicked and tried to escape the island—despite Goku's Pollyanna delight that they could "get to fight these guys all over again." It was only when Krillin decided to calm himself down through meditation that these larger-than-life enemies became manageable, and in a plot twist, it was Krillin who managed to save Goku!

After the old friends collected the Paradise Herbs and returned to Master Roshi, Krillin told Goku that he was envious of the Saiyan's ability to keep smiling no matter how terrible things got. He wanted that strength for himself, so in order to become someone who could push through the worst situations with a smile—someone his daughter Marron could be proud of—Krillin decided to become a fighter again.

This decision to jump back into the ring wasn't met without hesitation from others. When the Tournament of Power was announced, Gohan expressed some concerns that Krillin wasn't strong enough to be part of the 10 fighter team—concerns that were soon put to rest when Krillin used a makeshift arena to knock the Half-Saiyan out of the ring. Although he was the first champion of Universe 7 to be knocked out in the Tournament of Power, Krillin did manage to hold his ground far more than anyone expected him too. And he continues to train and better himself to this day—when he opens a door and stumbles into another world!

Powers/Abilities: Hooooooooooooooooo boy.

While the words "Krillin needs some serious nerfs" make me chuckle, they are 10,000% needed. At this point in the franchise, Krillin could probably destroy entire planets if he wanted to. While I'm quite confident Krillin will never go all-out against anyone or anything in Front because he cares too much about not killing anyone, don't just take my word for it. Let's stamp this out so there's no ambiguities!

Like always, every technique and detail in this section is subject to GM approval, and I'm fine with changing all of it to suit Void's wishes.

  • Superhuman Strength and Speed: Through years of intense training under Master Roshi and Kami, Krillin has harnessed power that far exceeds the capabilities of normal humans. He can punch through walls and turn boulders into pebbles, and has reflexes that can spot and avoid blows from even the most masterful martial artists. What these abilities do not translate to is physical invulnerability (he's still a squishy human) and Super Sanic speeds (he's not faster than a speeding bullet). Krillin can take a lot of punishment, but only from energy-based and melee strikes. Since no amount of physical training will turn his skin into a shell, there's not much he can do to stop blades and bullets from piercing through him, and wearing clunky protective gear will only slow him down and mess with his reaction time; in other words, he can't throw on SWAT gear and treat it like it's just weighted clothing. The full extent of Krillin's speed will be mentioned later in the Flight and "Teleportation" abilities.

  • Flight: By controlling the core of his energy, Krillin can raise his body off the ground and even fly high in the air, Superman style! He can use this ability to charge an opponent much faster than someone charging on foot, and quickly travel long distances without the need of a vehicle. To throw in some nerfs in disguised as physics, let's say that he can't fly higher than a mile above sea level (getting lightheaded could easily lead to free falling to the ground), and he can't travel faster than 50 mph for any distance over half a mile (he doesn't wear goggles or have a supply of oxygen, and his body is bearing all the Gs taken during flight). The flight speed must gradually increase—he's not a vehicle, so no 0 to 50 in mere seconds—and subsequently he speed must also decrease gradually or else he'll probably hurt himself. From what I've read, this seems below what the human body can take, but going above these limitations just feels unfair.

  • "Teleportation": For a sharp split-second period, Krillin can move to the point that his body no longer appears visible to the average person's eye so we don't have to animate it. This ability is in quotation marks because it's misleading, and I can't seem to find a better name; it's not real teleportation because Krillin isn't transporting his matter somewhere else, he's just moving super fast for less than a second. The distance he can travel is at a hard limit of 25 feet including whatever maneuvers around obstacles he'd have to make, and I'm happy to lower that limit if that's too much. There is a cooldown period of 10 seconds after using this technique (no spamming), and his movement is still detectable for anyone with artificial senses and/or extensive experience in either martial arts or facing speedsters.

  • Ki Sensitivity: Krillin is able to sense the energy of others, and can use it to estimate their strength. The stronger the individual, the farther away their energy can be sensed (let's set it at 5 miles for God-Tier characters such as bosses, 3 for the upper-tier characters, 1 for lower-tier, and within 100 yards for mooks and civilians). An important canonical exception to this ability are characters with an artificial/mechanical source of energy (like Monokuma or Starscream), characters with Divinenote  origins (I can only think of Nameless right now, but there are probably others), and those who have studied meditation and other practices to suppress their energy. Right now, I'm making a distinction between Divine beings and angels/demons because canonically there have been demonic characters like Dabura who emit their energy. I'm willing to include angels and demons as undetectable beings, if requested.

  • Ki Blasts: Harnessing his energy, Krillin can fire what appear to be yellow balls of light from his hands and shoot them at opponents. The power behind these blasts are equatable to very strong punches; they'll hurt most people, might even fracture a bone if they land just right, but nothing you can't walk away from. While Krillin can send at most 5 ki blasts in quick succession, throwing volleys like that leave him open for a sneak or counter attack. Needless to say, relying on these attacks for a long fight is going to be very very costly.

  • Solar Flare: A technique developed by Krillin's friend and fellow fighter: Tien Shinhan. Krillin fans his fingers on both sides of his forehead, and uses his ki to emit a powerful bright light intended to temporarily blind nearby opponents. This attack can be used quickly, but cannot be used in succession. It is often used to escape a dire situation, like being relentlessly chased or getting backed in a corner.

  • Kamehameha: The signature technique of the Turtle School of Martial Arts, Krillin cups his hands by a hip and pools energy in between his hands to unleash a power blast. The extent of power in a Kamehameha depends on the amount of energy collected into it, and more energy takes more time to collect. At its absolute strongest (let's say a full charge of 10 seconds), its power may be equivalent to the blast of a rocket launcher. We don't need any Destructive Finishes in this game!

  • Destructo Disk: Krillin's signature technique and arguably his most powerful attack. By facing his palm flat above him, Krillin can pool his energy and spin it into a thin and rapidly moving razor-sharp disk, which he can throw to slice through most substances. I believe there are RP limitations for lightsabers that would be applicable for this attack. For obvious reasons, I refuse to successfully use this attack on playable characters, unless the player wants to use the successful blow to get their character something later. After all, robot arms are cool!

Skills: As stated a number of times, Krillin is a highly-skilled martial artist, and would have proficient knowledge of criminal law due to his job as a police officer. What might be considered a superpower in it's own right is his vast amount of combat experience: he's fought everything from invisible men to aliens who can distort time, and has had front row seats to battles that could tear not only Earth, but the entire 7th Universe apart! The amount of abilities he's witnessed is incredible, and even if he hasn't fought (let alone beaten) all the warriors who harness those techniques, it seems safe to say that Krillin will not be seeing tons of firsts on the Frontiers.

Equipment: Krillin doesn't have much apart from a badge, a pair of handcuffs, a helmet, a flashlight, and a cell phone. However there's one item of note he's kept on his person:

Krillin drives what seems like a cross between a hovercar and a Segway, a tiny little meter maid vehicle that he can use to travel a few feet above the ground. You can see it in action from this clip of ''Dragon Ball Super''.note

While there isn't much to say about the vehicle itself—it can't even carry a passenger, it's so small—it is tucked away in a capsule that Krillin keeps in a pouch attacked to his belt. Click the top of the capsule, toss it on the ground, and BOM! it appears in a puff of smoke! By clicking the top of the capsule again and tossing it at the scooter, he can miniaturize it back into the capsule. Just another run-of-the-mill product of Capsule Corp.!

Territory: Wherever civilians need protecting and the law needs enforcing! Maybe he'll be stationed somewhere, maybe he'll be a wandering supercop. Who knows?

Ore-O Unbroken Bond from Alrest (Troper Knight) Relationship Status: Drift compatible
#18: Aug 8th 2022 at 7:40:50 PM

  • Name: Nia
  • Age: Around Late Teens to Young Adult (in appearance, she’s actually much older)
  • Appearance: "Here I come! Ready or Gormotti!"
  • Universe: Xenoblade Chronicles 2
  • Personality: The best words to describe Nia at first blush is brash, feisty, foul-mouthed, and snarky. She shows little hesitation to get her hands dirty to get what she wants, whether it would mean stealing something or fighting someone. However, there are plenty of lines she would not cross and if prompted, she can show a kind side to others. Deep inside, she feels utterly lost and miserable from what she had to go through and sees Pyra as some sort of way out. Despite her dour attitude, she has been known to act on cat-like mannerisms when she gets excited, just expect her to deny it up and down when called out on.
  • Backstory:
    • Coming from the wealthy Echell household in Gormotti, Nia lived a happy life with her father and her sister as well as the former's loyal Blade, yet it could not last. An illness had overtaken the sister, leaving them to search for anything that can cure it. Medicines, treatments, even healing Blades could not help, which left them on the brink of destitution. With a promise that he will return within a few days, her father, along with his blade, left for Uraya to search for the cure. Unfortunately, the ship he left on had been sabotaged, thus exploding and killing everyone on board. Devastated, she went back to her now-bedridden sister, lost and waiting for her to pass away. However, a suggestion was heard, something so unnatural that she couldn’t believe her own sister would even say something like that. Yet, given the alternative was to forget the memories she made with them, she accepted albeit with great hesitation. She had to eat her sister’s heart to survive.
    • After doing the deed, she went on to surviving the wilderness and towns of Gormott. Exposing herself as a Blade would bring disaster since her kind is considered abominable, so she had to disguise herself as a regular Gormotti civilian. Eventually, she winds up drifting away from her home titan, seemingly unconscious. After some time, she would be found by a young salvager and his titan, whisking her away to the Argentum Trading Guild. The news of the Aegis' resting place spread to her. Seeing as the Aegis could be worth so much, she snuck off and stowed away on a ship heading for the location. However, the same salvager had noticed her. In a panic, she threatened the kid to back off, yet after the kid left, she felt guilty, questioning herself on what she's doing.
    • When the ship uncovered a massive ship, she enacted the plan to steal the Aegis, yet it hit a snag. Namely, her chest had been run through by a blade of a dark-haired brute of a man with a stomp to the neck serving as the killing blow. As she lay dying, she began to see a vision of a beautiful land with a girl in red looking over it. They introduced each other and had an agreement between them: Nia would take Pyra to Elysium and Pyra would be at Nia’s side. However, she did not give Pyra every detail about her, least of all, her past. After then, she woke up, fought said brutish man and his stoic companion and escaped by a Titan with the boy she previously scared off. Now they stick together to climb the World Tree, because Nia did not want to break her promise. Never again.
  • Powers/Abilities: Now for Spoilerville, Population: One Cat. Note that I’ll most likely not use these right away so for now, the section is, for the most part, unusable.
    • Gormotti Physiology: Gormotti are mostly human but with feline traits, like cat-like ears instead of regular ones, which give her the hearing of one and cuspids. Other than that, she's identical to a human.
    • Flesh Eater Blade: Flesh Eater Blades are a Blade that has human cells within them, from either having cells grafted on them or eating the flesh of another, hence the term. Mostly, it either kills them or lets them live on after their Driver dies. However, Nia rolled a jackpot on the Super Power Lottery and got enhanced healing powers in exchange for her immortality (although she cannot age, her Core Crystal would not last forever). Nia's Blade form is far more pronounced in durability than her usual form in the sense that she takes a lot more punishment to bring down with only an attack that can bust through a lightly armored vehicle, or a few seconds of automated fire can bring her down. In addition, if a strong-enough attack hits her Core Crystal enough to break it, she's as good as dead and what can kill a person can also kill her as well. Just don’t expect her to bust out that form unless she absolutely has to. Said healing powers are left to the GM's discretion on how powerful it should be.
      • Ether Thread: Nia's ether thread can also enhance someone, but to a lesser extent than Pyra's, around half as effective her partner's. See Pyra's version for more details.
    • Water Affinity/Cellular Manipulation: She can manipulate water through the water nearby, the ether within her, any water-based liquids close to her, and the water inside others. Nia at her peak can shoot jets of water that can cut through sheet metal, can manipulate the cellular regeneration of others and herself, and drain her opponent's life force. However, she cannot manipulate the movements of another person through the water in their body. In ideal conditions, her max range is about 30 feet, but it can be dampened in dryer environments.
  • Skills:
    • Survivalism: Her time of living on the run gave her years of experience surviving wildernesses and slums.
    • Swordsmanship: She is rather adept with swords, even before she got her hands on the Aegis. Though, she does not have as much experience compared to Pyra.
    • Hand-To-Hand: With the use of her lithe frame and her quick feet, she can use a few strikes along with her sword combat.
    • First Aid: She’s surprisingly knowledgeable on how to heal someone despite her attitude and riches-to-rags past. It also helps her hide her identity while still providing aid.
  • Equipment:
    • Aegis Sword: Shared with Pyra, she’s mainly using it as it grants her an increase in overall combat capability. More details can be found on Pyra's sheet.
    • Knives: Three short knives holstered around her hip, typically used in case she cannot use the sword or for cutting things like cloth or hides.
    • Catalyst Scimitar: Nia's personal weapon as a Blade. With it, she can channel water-based attacks but it's not as strong as Pyra's, just only slightly stronger than an average steel sword.
  • Canon/Fanon: Fanon; This is a simple swapping of Drivers and Blades since in the base game, she’s paired with Dromarch. Plus, her backstory is somewhat adjusted to make sense of the pairing.
  • Territory/Followers: None, unless you count Pyra (but why would you?)

  • Name: Pyra
  • Age: Appears to be slightly older than Nia but in actuality, she’s over 500 years old.
  • Appearance: "As the Driver of the Aegis... can you take me to Elysium?"
  • Universe: Xenoblade Chronicles 2
  • Personality: By contrast to her Driver’s prickly nature, Pyra is sweet, level-headed, and caring, almost to a fault. More often than not, she tries to appeal to her Driver’s softer side and tries to convince her not to steal from or assault other people. However, she’s no doormat by any means when it comes to defending others or fending for herself. But inwardly, she's holding a strong sense of guilt for the destruction she feels responsible for.
  • Backstory:
    • 500 years before she met her new driver, a girl named Mythra was involved in the Aegis War, a conflict between her and another Aegis: Malos. As a result, many lives had been taken and three Titans have been slain. Unable to cope with the destruction she and her “brother” had caused, she sealed herself away and created a new identity to restrict her powers. This is how Pyra is born, a direct mirror from Mythra’s abrasive and prideful nature.
    • It was not until she was this close to having Malos steal her to drain her power to fix himself that a small ruffian rushed through and snatched the sword from under him. Unfortunately, her thievery was rewarded in a swift, but cruel end. Yet she couldn’t help but feel some sympathy for the girl, so she brought her into her dream. It was then she learned that the girl was called Nia and made a promise to her. She would take Pyra to her birthplace in Elysium and the Aegis would do everything to protect her. At first, the Gormotti thought it was a dream, but considering what happened to her before she got here, she accepted.
    • From there on, a life-long partnership was made between the two. However, much like Nia, Pyra has her own secrets within her that she refuses to tell her new Driver about. Even if she trusts her now, Pyra fears that if she told her, she would be abandoned. For now, they would trust each other with their lives, literally.
  • Powers/Abilities:
    • Bound Aegis: For the uninitiated, Blades are beings bonded to a person called a Driver where they both supply the latter with a weapon and channel an ether thread to enhance their abilities. She stands out among her peers for her incredible power. However, unlike other Blades, they can live on even after their Driver dies, but since she had to give up half of her life force to revive Nia, that doesn’t apply to her. She's also able to be injured just like her Driver. If either one dies, the other goes with her. Any injury one suffers will also be reflected onto the other.
      • Ether Thread: Pyra provides Nia a physical boost so long as she's within close range of her Driver. The ether thread enhances their physical prowess to superhuman levels. They can punch through walls but not enough to punch through armor without a weapon to help them. They run faster and jump higher than a normal human would, but not overly so. With the thread, Nia can take several hits that could break through a wall and keep fighting without a problem. Pyra's a bit squishier, but still slightly more durable than an average person. Both of them can also lift up twice as much as her own weight without a problem.
    • Fire Affinity: She is particularly skilled when it comes to manipulating fire, even compared to other blades of the same element. At her max, Pyra's flames can melt through a few feet of steel with ease and can create a fiery blast big enough to engulf 3-4 trucks side-by-side in flames for a few seconds. Even trying to counteract it with water will not affect it much. In ideal conditions, her max range is about 30 feet, but it can be dampened by a wet environment.
    • Focus: She has an uncanny skill at focusing her attention onto one thing and help demonstrate finer control of her pyrokinesis.
  • Skills:
    • Swordsmanship: Given that she is the sword, this is practically a given.
    • Cooking: She’s a very skilled cook by contrast with her Driver, who is mediocre at best.
  • Equipment:
    • Aegis Sword: Shared with Nia, it is a blade adorned with red and a burning blade. It serves as a means of supplying Nia with a means of attack, but when passed to Pyra, she can utilize it for powerful moves. She can teleport it to her hands and it can float around her body at 10 feet. Her sword can channel fire-based attacks with enough heat to cut through a few inches of steel. However, it's only slightly more durable than a regular sword, but she can create a new one as soon as she ever loses it or if it breaks.
  • Canon/Fanon: Fanon. Same as Nia, but in the base game, Pyra is paired with Rex.
  • Territory/Followers: None

An Ordinary Oddball
#19: Aug 8th 2022 at 8:11:34 PM

  • Name: Kayné Ainsel
  • Age: 15
  • Appearance: Kayne is 5'0" and weighs 120 lbs. Her left arm is covered with a thick leather glove, and her eyes flick around restlessly. The apron is made of a tough fiber cloth, and can act as light armor in a pinch.
  • Universe: Rifts
  • Personality: Kayne appears distant and cold at first, but upon closer inspection, she's actually a very eccentric yet cheerful character. She tends to lapse into technical terms when something piques her interest and has a habit of flapping her hands about whenever she speaks. She has her cynical moments, but even so, she remains dedicated to helping people, even in the strange new world she's found herself in.
  • Backstory:
    • Kayne was the product of an experiment to clone a viable human which could also produce viable offspring in an attempt to stave off what her creators feared would be the extinction of humanity due to radiation destroying many wasteland dwellers' ability to have children. Unfortunately, a mistake was made when choosing one of her gene donors, and Kayne ended up barren herself. Unwilling to dispose of her, the inhabitants of the wasteland shanty town that she was born in stepped in to collectively raise her. She met Moko when he was unceremoniously dropped onto her doorstep by a dimensional rift, and the two have been inseparable ever since.
    • However, the arrival of Moko created an energy signature that attracted Coalition State forces, who were deeply invested in the extermination of extradimensional beings, lest they pose any threat to their state. Coming upon Kayne's shanty town filled with dimensional beings and those who wished to shelter them, they razed it to the ground as their protocol dictated. Kayne was the only survivor, though she lost an arm in the process. Eventually, after making her own way in the wastelands for a few years, her only help being her talking hat, she joined up with a ragtag group of mercenaries to seek a better fortune for herself. After befriending them, however, Kayne's wanderlust began reasserting itself again, which led to her setting off to chase new horizons...
  • Powers/Abilities: N/A
  • Skills:
    • Technological Genius: Kayne shows a particular knack for assembling devices and improvising building materials when none are available. During her adventures, she experimented until she found how to make devices that could absorb magic and store it for later use, inventing her own brand of magic. However, she cannot add any additional effects to the spells and must use them as they were originally intended. Prolonged periods of study enable Kayne to distill them into "infusions," magic in a liquid form which she can recreate via brewing ingredients in a cauldron. Additionally, she is a reasonably competent hacker.
    • Wandering Scholar: As a wandering scholar, Kayne is well-versed in many areas of study and can make sense of other languages given enough time. She seems to have been gifted with a natural aptitude for learning, as well as a persistent thirst for knowledge. Her small hoard of books attests to this. Even if she has no formal schooling, she works hard, and that is serviceable enough.
    • Gun Expert: Kayne knows a lot about guns. She is mostly accustomed to using her energy rifle and plasma pistols, but she knows in theory how older guns work. Even though some have tried to force her to give up the secret of high-tech guns that never seem to run out of energy, those attempts have all failed. Incidentally, having a mechanical arm makes for some very steady aim...
    • Survivalist: Having lived in the wastelands and contended with the Coalition States for an extended period of time, Kayne has become an expert at surviving harsh conditions. This has also given her some degree of medical expertise, but don't expect her to work miracles. She has a habit of putting a vibro-knife in her left boot so she has a backup weapon.
  • Equipment:
    • Clockwork Arm: The entirety of Kayne's left forearm is a mechanical prosthetic, and she usually covers it up with a thick leather glove. It enhances what remains of her left arm, making it several times stronger than before. It looks like this.
    • Shielder Drive: On Kayne's other arm is a wrist-mounted device that can generate hexagonal shields made of a glowing bluish energy. It is naturally charged by the kinetic energy imparted upon it by attacks and by Kayne's movements. It cannot withstand automatic weapon fire for more than a few seconds or the equivalent of a bazooka attack before activating its failsafe and shutting itself off to prevent itself from overcharging. If such a thing happens, it needs a minute or two to process the energy that it has received before being available for use once more. The shields have to be manually programmed into shapes to intercept attacks, and Kayne is fortunate enough to be able to do it just by gesturing using the arm that the device is equipped on, but they cannot exceed the size of Kayne herself. Also, her attacks cannot pass through the shields either, so she must either shoot around their sides, leave one hand free to move them out of the way, or dispel them entirely to engage in offense.
    • Miscellaneous: Kayne owns two plasma pistols that she wields as a pair and an ion rifle for heavy-duty blasting. Her vibro-knife is just an uncannily sharp blade, but what it lacks in reach is supplemented readily enough by her trusty billhook. In addition to her weaponry, she also owns several toolboxes which she also stores useful scraps in. She greatly treasures her writing supplies as well, and has a typewriter of her own, just in case it ever comes in handy, even if finding ink for it is a pain.
  • Territory/Followers: The Last Outpost, Moko

  • Name: Moloch "Moko" Kothys
  • Age: Old
  • Appearance: A funny little chap. He has some very sharp teeth in that mouth of his. When Kayne is wearing him, it's very hard to dislodge him unless you pull very hard.
  • Universe: Rifts
  • Personality: Moko acts like a quintessential British gentleman, and speaks like one too. Since recovering his memories of his past, he is determined to not become enslaved like he once was, and professes that he is deeply indebted to Kayne, even though she insists that he owes her nothing. Despite his habitual fretting, he cares about Kayne deeply and, like her, becomes furious upon witnessing injustices.
  • Backstory:
    • Moloch Kothys was indeed nothing more than a piece of sentient clothing back in his home world, considered a servant to his wearer. His creators were devils, or perhaps demons, but their exact breed is hard to determine. Moko spent several years after his creation doing nothing but what he was told, and being bought and sold in clothing markets when he inevitably failed to live up to his wearers' expectations. Eventually, a rift swept him up, and he landed at Kayne's doorstep, claiming that he lost his memory in order to not be tossed out immediately, as his owners claimed that all items made by their hands were inherently cursed and hated by humans, so they were only suited for their current masters.
    • However, as Kayne eventually embarked on her wandering quest, he grew comfortable with the idea of confessing his origins to her, and she listened without rejecting his friendship. From there, their bond only grew stronger, as they were the only person the other had as a constant in their lives. His loyalty to Kayne thus cemented, he agreed to embark with her upon a journey to an unknown frontier...
  • Powers/Abilities:
    • Dimensional Pocket: Moko has a dimensional pocket about the size of a small trunk inside of him. It is only accessible by the person who Moko considers his "wearer" i.e. Kayne. Otherwise, if someone flips him over, all they will see is the inside of a normal top hat. Kayne often uses this pocket to store things that she doesn't want authorities to find, and also to preserve her food, since anything placed inside is put into stasis.
    • Comsumption Regeneration: Should Moko be damaged in any way, he can regenerate lost or damaged parts by eating cloth and other materials used to make hats. If a place is sufficiently saturated with magic, he can accelerate his regeneration by absorbing the ambient magic.
    • Clothing Chameleon: Moko can disguise himself as a regular top hat by closing his eye and mouth, rendering them as small slits that look as if they were stitched shut from the inside. He must also wrap his arms around himself to make them look like a hatband.
    • Visual Telepathy: Moko can help Kayne communicate telepathically with sentient creatures, regardless of their language, as long as he can see them. However, he can only communicate with one other person at a time. Despite this power's weakness, it may still come in handy.
    • Detection Immunity: Moko makes his wearer immune to psychic/magic detection and tracking powers. Obviously, this applies to him as well. Mundane tracking methods will still work, however. Anything with a power level higher than his will be able to overcome the psychic and magical shielding.
  • Skills: Moko is a thinking cap, which means he knows a lot about magic. Therefore, he works very much as a sort of magical familiar. Though he may not be able to cast spells himself, he can interpret them for Kayne to study, and their teamwork can only propel them to greater heights of sagely inquiry together! Per aspera ad astra!
  • Equipment: He is the equipment.
  • Territory/Followers: The Last Outpost, Kayne

  • Name of the Territory: The Last Outpost
  • Universe of Origin: Rifts
  • Description:
    • The Last Outpost consists of Kayne's shack and a small piece of its surrounding lands. The shack stands in the middle of a clearing with a fast-moving freshwater river running through it, surrounded by a thick forest. Kayne chose to settle here because the forest forced attackers to come into her favored territory where she could pick them off and because the field had excellent soil for gardening. The proximity to a water source was also nice. It is built with its back to a mountain to provide a small modicum of protection from the elements.
    • Her shack is a roughshod construction with a wind turbine sticking out of the top and several solar panels placed precariously on the roof. These all power a hybrid device that charges her prosthetic hand and also powers the ventilation unit over her wood-burning stove to ensure that the interior doesn't get overly smoky. A heavy ax is propped up next to the woodpile. Connected to the shack is a smaller shed, which doubles as a workshop and a garage for her much-abused but well-loved motorcycle. It also holds a moonshine still where Kayne distills fuel for her vehicle. Additionally, she cultivates a small vegetable and herb patch by her shack. There is a small drainage ditch surrounding the property. A red cloth flutters proudly from a crooked flagpole between the shack and the garden.
    • For the sake of her own convenience, she has built a working plumbing and sewage system that leads to the river and back, using copper pipes. A water processing unit placed in a metal box pumps water to Kayne's shack. A pump near Kayne's shack, also in a metal box, ejects sewage into the river, where it is quickly swept away by the rushing water.
    • The inside of the shack is a mess. Stacks of books litter the floor. A board placed on four stacks of bricks serves as a table. Crates serve as chairs. Pots are piled up near the stove, along with a piece of steel wool for scrubbing them. Pipes are exposed throughout the place. A hammock is strung up in a corner with a small dresser next to it. A curtain conceals the bathroom area, with a wooden tub and a toilet in surprisingly good condition. Despite her home's kitbashed nature, Kayne refers to it as her "house," and will insist that others do the same.
  • Contents/Locations:
    • The surrounding forest contains many varieties of medicinal plants and herbs, including many strange mushrooms which are useful for Kayne's infusions and other wild edibles. One can find many creatures which can normally be found in a forest, and which Kayne frequently hunts for food. Otherwise, it is a completely ordinary forest, if you ignore the strange stone cairns which one might occasionally stumble upon, which are the remnants of druidic meeting sites. There is a path leading through the heart of it, with a hidden fork that leads to Kayne's shack.
    • Lookout Rock is a nearly horizontal outcrop of rock jutting upwards and outwards from a small mountain, propped up by other convenient rock formations, so named because Kayne likes to survey her territory from its heights. The mountain itself is called Witch Hat Peak, and is the home of an elevated lake which continuously dispenses water from an underground aquifer through a chain of waterfalls, which feed the river running through the land. Because the water is especially pure and fresh, Kayne calls the lake Crystal Lake, and the waterfalls are appropriately named the Thundering Falls. The river itself is referred to as the Sweetwater due to its foremost defining quality.
  • Specialties: The further away from the path one strays, the stranger and larger the flora and fauna become. This is because of the background magical field that encompasses the entire territory. While it makes it easier for Moko to recover from injury in the forest, the ambient magic also ensures that any outside alterations to the foliage are quickly covered by new growth. Though dangerous and easy to get lost in, rare magical reagents can be found in the deepest parts of the woods. Kayne speculates that the stone cairns are connected to this phenomenon somehow.
  • Population: Kayne & Moko (2)

@Theo: Krillin is accepted.

@Ore: So, as I mentioned, I have a few questions that need clarification before I can accept your signup. In particular, I need a better notion of what Nia and Pyra can actually accomplish with their combat capabilities. For an example of what I mean, Makura can punch through sheet metal and run at cheetah speeds, and Krillin can pulverize walls. What you've given me currently is things like "channel an ether thread to enhance their abilities" without saying what this makes them capable of. Examples of feats or relative comparisons for benchmarking will be fine; no need for exact numbers. So, complete list of things I need to know:

  • Are Nia or Pyra's physical abilities enhanced, and if they are, what can they accomplish or endure at their peak?
  • When exerting herself to her maximum, what can Pyra or Nia accomplish with her elemental ability? For example, can she melt steel, make a huge nova of flame as big as a mid-size room, etc.?
  • Does Nia's water manipulation include the ability to manipulate liquids derived from water (for example, tea), or the water within other sentient beings (for example, the human body is 60% water)?
  • Does the Aegis Sword have any special properties? For example, can they teleport it to their hands, can its edge become superheated, what can it cut through?
  • You say Pyra "can focus her powers on a single object or control it tightly". Do you mean that she's just unusually good at focusing, or that she has finer control of her pyrokinesis (which seems like it should go in Powers rather than Skills), or that she's telekinetic?

@JF:

  • Include the vibro-knife in Kayne's equipment, along with any other completed weapons she is starting off with that you have not already mentioned.
  • Are things stored in the Dimensional Pocket subject to decay/entropy as normal, or are they preserved as they were when they were placed inside?

@Everyone: JF's signup brings up an interesting question. Would you all prefer all language to be automatically translated by the planet's inherent magic as in the original iteration of Frontiers, or would you prefer a new, universally usable language be inserted into characters' heads by the same means? The latter would allow characters to have private conversations in public if they are speaking in a language others don't know, which could lead to interesting interactions or plot points, but the former also has its advantages.

I would prefer the new, universally usable language be inserted into characters' heads for the reasons you mentioned.

Edits complete.

Alright, I'll adress these questions and add a few more things:

  • The ether thread enhances their physical prowess to superhuman levels. They can punch through walls but not enough to punch through armor without a weapon to help them. They run faster and jump higher than a normal human would, but not overly so. With the thread, Nia can take several hits that could break through a wall and keep fighting without a problem, but Pyra's a bit squishier, but still more durable than an average person. She can also lift up twice as much as her own weight without a problem. Nia's Blade form is far more pronounced in durability in the sense that she takes a lot more punishment to bring down. I'd say an attack that can bust through a lightly armored vehicle, or a few seconds of automated fire is her limit. Nia's ether thread can also enhance someone, but to a lesser extent of Pyra's.
  • At her max, Pyra's flames can melt through a few feet of steel with ease and can create a fiery blast big enough to engulf 3-4 trucks side-by-side in flames for a few seconds. Nia at her peak can shoot jets of water that can cut through sheet metal, can manipulate the cellular regeneration of others and herself, and drain her opponent's life force.
  • Nia's water-based abilities can work with both. She could also generate water herself, but it wears her out quicker.
  • Since the sword is an extension of herself, Pyra can teleport it to her hands and it can float around her body at 10 feet. Her sword can channel fire attacks, but otherwise it's just a bit stronger than the average steel sword. Should the sword be broken, she can summon a fresh one. The same applies to Nia's Catalyst Scimitar, but it can channel water and it's not nearly as strong as Pyra's.
  • I would say the former two for Focusing, but mostly the second part.
  • Pyra's Energy Barrier is stronger than the average Blade, taking up to a rocket launcher's worth of damage to fully break. After being broken, it can take a few seconds of downtime to restore it. Nia's barrier is slightly less durable but can protect from several big attacks.
  • Mythra is still present but considering that the point they arrive is during Chapter 2 of the game, she still resides within Pyra's consciousness and has not found a need to intervene.

About the language thing, I would prefer the less-intrusive automatic translation. But anyway, here come the beekcake!

  • Name: Conan of Cimmeria
  • Age: In his twenties.
  • Appearance: His natural environment (He's the guy in front in case you couldn't tell.)
  • Universe: Conan the Barbarian
  • Personality: Some have described Conan as having 'gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth', and it's certainly true that he can be larger-than-life and impetuous. He wears his emotions on his sleeves, never shy of acting on his anger or his enjoyment. Many drunken fools got at least their cheekbones broken from taunting him. He is a man of action that is seldom satisfied, and he travel the world around in search of glorious battles, luxuries and good women, with little scrupples at what job he'll take to earn the necessary wealth
Yet despite this violent and ruthless side of him, Conan is not altogether heartless. He holds his particular code of honor very dear, which led to him avoid hurting women as much as possible, not hurting the helpless unless necessary, keeping to his words and remaining steadfeastly loyal to those who he sees as comrades. He also has a great distate for magic, which he sees as innately unnatural and corrupting. Sometimes, he has stray tought of maybe one day being a king, but those have just been idle fantasies until now...
  • Backstory: Conan was born in a barbaric tribe in Cimmeria, a frozen and inhospitable lands of the Hyborea era, a timescape long before modern times. This though upbringing caused him to grow up to develop into a strong and hearty man, tough his unusual wanderlust and tales of glory from his grandfather soon made him disatisfied with his cold homeland. And so he set out to wander the world at the age of 15. From then on, he went on many adventures and took on countless occupations: a mercenary, a thief, a killer, a pirate... But no matter what he did or went, danger was on his path.
  • Powers/Abilities:
    • Barbarian Body: Thanks to a lifetime of hard work and fighting, Conan has possibly reached the peak of what an human can naturally achieve in his world. He is fast enough to outrun a speeding horse, strong enough to lift up a car by himself, and durable enough to still be able to walk without much problem after getting shot with a bullet. His reflexes are also developed enough to let him notice and dodge an arrow coming towards him.
  • Skills:
    • Conan the Slayer: Conan is familiar with the use of many mundane weapons such as swords, battleaxes, spears or bow and arrow. Needless to say, his experiences had left with a great knowledge of how to use them.
    • Conan the Adventurer: One does not survive to teenagehood in Cimmeria by being helpless. Conan knows all the necessary skills to thrive in the wilderness, including tracking, climbing steep surfaces, navigating himself through visual clues and fashioning clothing and meat out of animals.
    • Conan the Chief: While it would no doubt surprise many who meet him at first glance, Conan is not just some dumb brute. He had led bands of outlaws and even once an army before, and so know the trappings of leading a larger group into battle.
  • Equipment:
    • Broadsword: A large and long sword. It is of fine making and quality, but is otherwise a perfectly normal weapon.
    • Dagger: A dagger he keeps as an emergency option should he lose his primary weapon. Much like his sword, it is a fine but ordinary dagger.
  • Territory/Followers: Tough his fate says he should become king in the future, he has none yet.
