Spun off the main odd confessions thread; this thread is for odd confessions related to TV Tropes itself.
Excessive complaining isn't allowed anywhere on the site. Keep it out of this thread.
I felt guilty about having to remove some of the real life examples on Mandela Effect. I would not have removed them if they didn't violate site policy. I enjoyed reading those examples, and I'm sure the people who wrote them are not happy about them being removed.

I have the most naive and/or nitpick-y question that I don't dare ask in the on-topic self-moderation thread for fear of coming across as a troll, and I don't know where else to ask. So, here it goes:
There is a list of discussion topics banned from the on-topic forum. The permanently banned topics include "justification for piracy", with no further explanation of what type of piracy. Moderation in practice applies this to digital piracy, like downloading video games (or whatever) for free instead of paying money to the copyright holder (for a download or new physical copy) or the previous owner (for a used physical copy).
But... doesn't "piracy" without any other qualifiers or context usually mean... literal piracy? As in, with ships?
One could argue that "rules for the TV Tropes forum" is the context. To be fair, I don't know how likely the topic of naval piracy is to come up on the OTC forum. In real life, I definitely have heard justifications for modern pirates along the lines of "people from poorer countries turn to piracy because Big Capitalism overfished their local waters", so this is a thing in political discussions in general. I'm more likely to get into the topic of pirates portrayed in media (existing media or my own writing), which is a different discussion altogether. So I don't really need a clarification of that rule for my own forum use.
But now that I have fallen into this hole, I'm just getting increasingly confused. Am I too Literal-Minded? Is this even the literal meaning or do I not know what words mean? Is there a language shift at play? Do The Powers That Be on TV Tropes not know what words mean? Do words mean anything? Have language pirates stolen the meaning of the word piracy? Why am I even spending time on this website?
"He betrayed the Staaarks" is not the only problem here. That sounds like a fair question that belongs there and not here, and no need to have a sudden meltdown. Just ask "Justifications for piracy" to be changed for "Justifications for digital piracy" (tbf, I'd ban justification for real piracy too). I know to some mods this is something too obvious, but to me rules should leave no rule for ambiguity.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupFor anyone reading along, the discussion of the word "piracy" in the OTC forum rules is continued here.
I want to note that while I phrased it rather sloppily, I do think that overfishing and how the global fishing industry is like in general is a serious problem, completely unrelated to possible piracy justifications. I don't want to minimize that.
"He betrayed the Staaarks" is not the only problem here.I came back to chatting on the forums due to being banned from other places. Loathing will do that. I don’t get how people do it for a living.
I'm on the TLP too much. If I'm bored I'll browse tropes to suggest examples for, but I can never find anything I haven't already looked at lol. Unless I go way back.
I could do it with launched tropes, but, eh...

I've noticed that 'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess is officially spelled "Torture," instead of "Torture",. I know American and Commonwealth Spellings applies, but can't help but to have strong emotions on the topic.
TroperWall / WikiMagic Cleanupam I blind or did you spell it the same way twice? Edit: Also, yeah I feel like work names should be an exception.

"What does freedom really mean when demanded of you by a god?"It's not the spelling. It's the position of the comma relative to the quotation mark. The cover shown on the page itself matches the current custom title.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Which is what provoked this question because we occasionally get them in ATT.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupWhenever I approve videos and then see a Video Moderations post, I assume that someone is complaining about one of the clips I just accepted.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessDue to my association with the old name, I read the image caption on Once Original, Now Common in the voice of Jerry Seinfeld.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.omg now I am doing it too!

If you're referring to House Of Anubis, it's Nickelodeon but has no ties to Dan Schneider, lol.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessOkay but they still have to work on the foot thing.
Lol it's a one-off joke. Feet are almost never mentioned so I wouldn't worry
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI keep thinking War Jay and mightymewtron are the same person, but I know both are awesome.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here. Also just mentioning feet in a kids' show isn't inherently fetishy. I really hope people know that because I think acting like a random gross body part is always inherently fetishy and not just Rule of Funny is creepy in itself.
I think I picked up a lot of my attitudes from her when I started working in Projects lol.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Hehe
I appreciate the comparison, personally.

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI like browsing the New Media sub forum even though I know the subject matter upsets me.
Of all the pages I've found images for, I think my favorite (or one of them) may just be Hit Spark. It doesn't seem like much but I had to get the perfect frame, and Mitsuki's unchanging expression cracks me up.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessWhen I saw our new trope, Scratch Damage Enemy, I Thought It Meant an enemy that only causes Scratch Damage. ^_^;;
I like to keep my audience riveted.Whenever an image gets cut for being NSFW, I go into the page history just to see what was so perverse about it.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.
Hopefully nobody tries to Shoot The Shaggy Tropers...
