ITT: We Are Monsters on a Spooky Quest

Melvin and the cat stare at Rosamund in awe.

"It's been decades since we've seen a werewolf like yourself. I had forgotten what beautiful creatures they were. I wish I was beautiful again..." the cat says, looking down at her overweight, stitched-up body.

Melvin puts his hand on the cat's head and starts scritching her. "I think you're still beautiful. What do you say we introduce ourselves properly?"

The cat purrs. "Yes, of course. This is Melvin, like I said, and I'm Eleanor."

"We weren't always like this. We used to be separate creatures, but we... well, we died. Some megalomaniac of a doctor brought us back, but not before stitching our broken parts together."

"I... see," says the crocodile solemnly upon hearing Melvin share their story. "Well, I kind of know how that feels. I also died, as you can see, long ago... almost a century. You can call me Patch, by the way."

"As did I. It truly is strange that we all faced the same fate." Senki looked angry as she said this before turning away. "That damned robber..."

Well...uh...my name is Jacoby. Jacoby Sludge. (The fish creature says.) I-I'm sorry you all... (He swallows nervously.)

In the middle of the dungeon, there was a small cage that seemed to have a black cat on it that nobody had paid attention to, the little cat was asleep but he ended up waking up with all the noise made by its cellmates, he got up stretching and meowing like he was Yawning, letting his tail rise up which turned out to get separated on two in the middle and if that wasn't weird enough his tail tips then light up in a blue fire.

He began to look around and noticed that he was in a dungeon and despite that his first question was "Hey does anyone knows when they serve breakfast in this dump? the munchies are killing me" he said sitting down on his rear and rubbing his grumbling belly.

"Why is this so different from what I remember? have I been gone that long?" Senki asks, looking at the strange, two-tailed cat. "I had a cat at home, but she's ascended at this point..."

Beautiful creature, eh? A slight wag of Rosamund's tail is the only overt sign of how much she appreciates that sentiment.

"I am very much still alive, if it makes you feel any better."

"At least someone is...Hey, none of you have ever heard of a man named Seikoto, have you?"

The black cat took for a second and simply responded "doesn't ring a bell at all, so I'm guessing no one knows why we're here right?" the cat said realizing everybody was locked up, he tried to summon a fireball but he couldn't it seems that his cage nullified his magic "This place isn't very nice, I just arrived two days ago and I'm already locked up" he complained annoyed at the little space he was trapped on "why does everyone get jail cells and I'm on a little cage?" he complained as he runs around the same place feeling claustrophobic.

I don't know either, sorry... (Jacoby says.)

(He looks over to the cat.) He's stuck in there, we need to get him out!

"I would, but y'know. Incorporeal."

"Oh, poor thing!" says Eleanor.

Melvin and Eleanor hurry over to the cat's cage. Eleanor inserts her claw into the lock and fiddles around with it. However, she does not have any luck, so she instead tries to push the bars apart with her and Melvin's brute strength.

The cat was left pretty shocked at the vision of the half dog and half cat, he had seen a lot of weird monsters but this one was a definitely new one "um thanks for trying but I doubt it will butch like that, Were your parents a cat and a rat? or why do you look like a nickelodeon cartoon?" he couldn't help but ask in curiosity.

Taking Notes

As she was breathing she turns to Rosamund, she has a look of excitement ”Wow! Another bipedal animal of this planet!” she says ”For this planet still has many things to learn” she says as she made her way to the werewolf trying to grab some of her fur to take to only hear a new voice of the crocodile.

”I see, a reanimated corpse of another animal, for this was to happen in my home your mind would have joined the core, but I have never felt what bones are” she says quickly pulling a bit of fur from Rosemund and making way to him and feeling his hand, ”Weird…” she says before seeing the small cage with a voice.

”Another animal! But not bipedal and it can speak, so being bipedal not showing to be evolved?” she says to herself walking to the cage and looking at the tail ”Speaking animal, I need of your fur to learn” she says her hand going into the cage trying to grab him.

"Our parents, a rat and a cat? If only it were that simple."

"Unfortunately, we were stitched back together by a mad scientist. We're undead, like Frankenstein."

"The Frankenstein Monster, Melvin. Its name isn't Frankenstein."

"Whatever."

Rosamund yelps and bats Malti away as the alien rips out a clump of her fur. She frowns as Malti then focuses on doing the exact same thing to the imprisoned cat.

"What a rude creature. I hope they aren't all as thoughtless as you on your planet."

Brushing herself off, she heads over to the cage herself and makes her own fruitless attempt to lock-pick with her claws.

"Well that sounds pretty awkward, I love company but I wouldn't like to be stuck to someone at all times" The Yokai cat commented before adding in an inappropriate question "do you have two buttholes too? or do you share the same butt?" but his flame ended up flaming up high in surprise as he felt the aline ripped off some of his far threatening to burn the curious space explorer.

"That's quite impolite, and very off-topic. We need to try to devise a plan."

Melvin and Eleanor look at each other.

"We don't talk about that."

I am getting ready to move the plot forward, if everyone is okay with that.

"I'm impolite? I'm not the one that's ripping off hairs without consent" The black cat complained about the invasion of his intimacy.

Suddenly, the echoing of several footsteps is heard just outside the cell.

"Uh oh. Sounds like humans," says Melvin.

"No..." Eleanor's ears twitch, and her eyes widen. "Not just humans."

Just then, several armored figures step into the room, all holding spears. Some of them are humans, but some are ogres and goblins. They all stand to the sides of the door, spears at the ready.

One last creature steps through the door, a small, dark green imp. He walks up to the cell and clears his throat.

"Right. Listen up, you beasts. My name is Cesspool, and I am the chief advisor to King Bogey himself. The king wants to speak with you personally. We're going to let you out of that cage, and you better not give us any trouble, you hear me? These spears are made from the same metal as the cell bars, which as you may have discovered are impervious to monsters. Any questions?"

"Yeah, I have a few questions," Patch says as he grabs the bars of the cell with both hands and leans forward. "Firstly, where are we, and why are we here?"

(Jacoby simply grabs on to the nearest arm (Melvin and Elanor's), too scared to speak.)

Melvin holds Jacoby close.

"Don't worry, kid. I won't let them hurt you," he whispers.

"Well, my bony friend," Cesspool says to Patch, "We are in Moontown, the capital and largest human city of Grimmloch. The monster guards and I are the king's special forces. He keeps us hidden from the human population. But we won't have to hide for long."

"The king has a special mission for you. He has selected each of you based on your skills and wants. There will be great rewards if you do what he says."

Rosamund gives Cesspool her most impassive stare. "Impervious to monsters", eh... so she was feeling what she thought she did when she touched those bars.

"I will let your King keep believing a little silver is enough to render any structure monster-proof," she says, betraying no emotion in her face or her voice. "I'm sure it helps him sleep at night."

She can't help but tilt her head slightly as Cesspool reveals why they're here.

"I see. Pray tell, what kind of mission is this? And is there any reason he had to kidnap me and seal me in his dungeon, rather than simply ask me nicely?"
