It sounds as though you have an instance of MacGyvering, too, in the use of the jacket to make a trap.

So I'm in the process of writing some fiction. There, over the course of adventures, Action Girl will suffer minor Clothing Damage: she will use her jean jacket to camouflage a booby trap. And, as she would be waiting in the thick bushes, her shirt will be ruined too (but that will be a rather minor issue). Using the jacket to build a trap is more significant, because initially she will not want to lose it, but will sacrifice it when the need arrives, and won't miss it)
So, what tropes, besides obvious Clothing Damage can be traced here?
