Given that film has a trailer at this point, I suppose it is proper to give it a thread of its own. To kick things off, here is said trailer.
The movie seems to be dialing back the Hollywood Exec-pleasing elements from the first movie and emphasizing more material from the games they're adapting, so that's a plus in my book. It will be interesting to see how well it performs in comparison to the first movie.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I agree, the official trailer of the film was awesome. With Tails helping Sonic stop Dr. Eggman, except Knuckles works for him for some reason.
Precisely why I was thrilled the initial movie managed to make it. I was afraid I'd never Sonic adapted carte blanche on the silver screen. Not so much now. I'm ready.
A cruel, sick joke is still a joke, and sometimes all you can do is laugh.Knuckles was first introduced in the games as working with Robotnik so it's actually accurate in that sense. Obviously he ended up switching sides which is more than likely going to be a film plot too.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."Given the echidnas' role in Longclaw's death, I wonder what this will mean for Sonic and Knuckles's relationship going forward. Assuming there are other movies, of course.
Glad there's a second post for the sequel. Anyway, I really loved the trailer and it seems like Knuckles is going back to being serious again, which is a plus in my book, since I never liked it when they made Knuckles dumb in the recent games.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!Don't worry, there's still time for flandization!
Chuckles is never far away
New theme music also a boxChuckles will be Knuckles's identical cousin who sometimes shows up to troll his friends and impersonate Knuckles.
I'm interested to see how it goes. Game!Sonic has never had any sort of complicated feelings towards Knuckles, even when they work against each other. But in the movie's universe, Sonic is going to a much harder time warming up to Knuckles, given that his people were the one who killed Sonic's mother figure.
They could use the longclaw stuff The introduce the classic evil white echidna scientist archetype like Finetivus and Zachary.
It even gets a return of sorts in Starline who uses similar qualities but you know is a platypus instead (huh get it echidnas and Playpi)
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Real life Echidnas and Platypi are the only living monotremes (mammals that lay eggs) so they are biologically connected - albeit loosely. So our Platypus villain is kind of "related" to the previous Echidna villains.

"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."Thank you.
[ perry the platypus intensives]
New theme music also a boxYeah, I'm also kind of hoping for Sonic and Knuckles to bring that up. The first movie already did a pretty good job of portraying Sonic's emotions (he very clearly has abandonment issues such as the incident at the baseball field and during he and Tom's argument on the road) but if he manages to recognize that Knuckles is the same species as the group that attacked he and Longclaw when he was little, that could be some great emotional stuff too.
Presumably Knuckles is from the boring mushroom planet that Eggman was last seen on, so he may be unrelated to those Echidnas. But I hope they weld these arcs together. Otherwise, it would defeat the purpose of having made the attackers Echidnas in the first place.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I think Sonic knows the ones after him in his homeworld were echidnas, since in the trailer he says to Knuckles, "You're never going to get my power."
I'm hoping that we see some emotional moments between Sonic and Knuckles. I would love to see how Sonic handles Knuckles showing up and how he connected Knuckles to Longclaw.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!Wait, is Longclaw explicitly dead?

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. It would be an Ass Pull if she weren't.
I mean, would it? It's not like she's a particularly important character whose death has a vital impact on Sonic's character development. Sonic doesn't even mention her past the intro. IIRC she doesn't even "die" onscreen. Sonic leaves her behind, and never finds out what the heck was going on with the echidnas attacking.
I've been fulling expecting "Longclaw is alive" as an obvious twist when Sonic inevitably finds his way back to his world in whichever movie they have him go back. Mostly because the fact that we know very little about what happened means she's our only existing source of information about what that was all about.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Longclaw will be the inevitable "surprise villain" that every movie has these days
Sonic doesn't mention her past the intro, but it is obvious her death has an impact on him throughout the movie as seen in his loneliness until he opens up to Tom.
Heck, if she isn't an important character, there's no need to reveal her as being alive all along.
I think Longclaw is explicitly referred to as dead in the novelisation?
Then again, the canonicity of novelisations are often dubious.
Hello, this is the forum of the upcoming sequel film, Sonic the Hedgehog 2. What is anyone's thoughts about the sequel?
