"One at a time, please! Can't answer everything at once..."
Interceptor had expected a fair number of questions, but didn't think there'd be such a deluge. His brain shifted into overdrive, processing the sheer amount into something more manageable.
Q (Fern): Umm... Mr.Interceptor sir, sorry to ask but what is your power?
A: Never had any. Not until recently. For years, I fought criminals with nothing but my wits. But age has a way of catching up with you.
Q (Gala): Can the first class be biology? I like biology. Also, do you want a snack?
A: Thank you, but I'm not hungry. I don't tend to get hungry these days. But biology isn't something you'll be learning here anyways.
Q(Kirby): Is there....a place hero-type equipment can be stored? I have a few...items I'll need to do my stuff.
A: Should be a hanger near the gym. Your 'stuff' should already be there, if it concerns you.
Q(Lucy): U-Um— j-just one question, Mr. Interceptor... s-sir...? W-Will we be... l-learning anything to do with espionage under you...?
A: If you must know, yes, you will. You'll be learning many things under me. Espionage, combat, tools, rescues, anything a hero needs to be successful at their job. Many of these subjects will be taught to you by the other staff, but you'll be reporting to me.
Q(Clio): E-Excuse me, sir, but what are we going to learn today?
A: Today, you'll be having your first taste of combat. It won't be difficult and it won't be real, but it'll show me what you're made of. And maybe yourself as well.
Q(Rebecca): Um... Mr. Inceptor, sir... will we get to meet the Saint?
A: At some point, I'm sure. He is the Principal, after all. Some of you may meet him sooner than later, but that depends on whether you shape up.
Q(Lee): I'm guessing we'll be having multiple teachers for different classes, so what exactly are you going to teach us? How to control our powers? Protecting others? Or something else? Like, uh, how the imperial measurement system works...?
A: Like I said, we'll be teaching you many things at Saint Academy. Measurement isn't one of them, unless it's determining how far you are from your opponent or someone you're trying to save. As far as general education goes, you'll be taught the basics, but this isn't public school.
Q(Mikael): So are you gonna be a hardass the whole year? Or is this gonna be a 'hidden heart of gold' thing where you slowly warm up to us?
A: I hope not. If I'm coming off harsh, I don't intend to, and I apologize if I am. But I'm not one for sentimentality. All I want is for you to be the best students and the best heroes you can be. But that's more difficult when you're defacing school property. There have also been some... challenges, concerning my latest... 'operation.' But I'm trying to overcome them as best I can. Until then, I'll have to ask you to bear with me.
Q(Kana): Hello! Um, when do we have combat exercises? Are those going to be a thing?
A: As I said, you'll be having your first taste of combat in less than an hour. But I appreciate your enthusiasm.
Q(Theo): Autograph?
A: ...
Interceptor took a moment to breathe. It was also the most tedious part of class, but one he wearily put up with. "I think that's everyone. If we're done here, then it's time to begin our first class, as promised. Once you're ready, follow me down to the training room and we'll see what you're capable of.
As Interceptor made to leave, Sue raised her hand, waving it in the air like she was at a football game. "OOOOO, WAITWAITWAIT, I'VE GOT A QUESTION, DARK AND BROODY TEACHER DUDE!"
"...yes?"
"Why are you so dark and broody, teacher dude? Like, I get maybe there's other stuff going on, but you're here to teach us, right? If we're gonna be stuck doing all this boring class stuff, shouldn't it be fun? Sorta think doing whatever you're doing is counter-productive, ya know?"
Interceptor glared at Sue, but didn't say a word. If anything Sue said had gotten through, he didn't show it. He made for the doorway, expecting the class to follow.
"...something I said?"

As the class went onward to the training grounds, another student joined them. This one had neck length white hair, ashen skin, and yellow eyes that were currently focused straight ahead as she walked. Right now, she was dressed in the Saint Academy standard issue school uniform, and looked to be keeping her silence, save for approaching the front of the pack to speak to Interceptor.
"I apologize for my tardiness, sir." The girl said quietly, leaving it at that for now.

“G-Good try, Sue...” Lucy shyly patted the monkey girl's shoulder as she went past, before following after Interceptor in a manner almost entranced. The Interceptor. The single hero she'd researched in preparation for her own vigilante career. He was going to be teaching them!
Whatever happens, don't screw this up.
I won't.
Her ink rippled with the anticipation of what would transpire in combat class. Part of it was also trepidation, but she figured that Interceptor would be in good control of matters. She forced herself to shift into hero gear; getting into the right headspace for a high-intensity situation and pulling her hood back over her head for comfort.
“...M-Mr. Interceptor, sir...? I-I just wanted to say... I-I'm a huge fan of what you do. If it wasn't for how you do heroics, I... I-I don't think I'd have been brave enough to be here at all...”
Watch what happens when I fail and run away like a coward.
There's virtue in running away. If I come back better.
As if.
There was a new girl that she'd barely noticed. She'd certainly cut it close. Lucy glanced at her curiously, wondering what her whole deal would be. She supposed they'd soon find out, and after giving her a brief smile she focused ahead once again.
That's a lot of superpowers that're gonna be thrown around...

"Well, today's your lucky day. First lesson of the day is all about combat." She said to herself.
She then puts the book away and follows the Inspector.

He chuckled briefly, "My Grandparents on my mom and dad's sides went complete opposite directions. Made family reunions a helluva whiplash, I can tell ya that."

Fern walks to Sue and says “Sorry that had to happen, Sue” before thinking about what he said our class is going to be about combat, and well she is scared, she has never used her powers for fight before and she doubt it’s gonna be great.

"Sir, yes Sir!" Khulan stood from her desk, not quite saluting but putting her hand over her heart. She never got that military salute right. "I'm ready right now, sir!"
Khulan hastily webbed her bicycle up to a wall and followed Interceptor and the others out. She sucked in breath, swung her arms, and fixed her face like she was chewing on sour gummies. ...Well, 'many things' wasn't exactly specific. Or an answer for what this Interceptor person would be teaching himself, but...at least it was kind of a response!
"Good to know, I guess! And I'll try to figure it out! Hopefully!" Lee cheerfully remarked, managing to stop himself from going off on a related tangent.
With the mention of heading to the training room though, his optimisim faded a tiny bit. All the effort to get all his books and everything organized on that desk was kinda pointless as he swiftly packed his things back up and sprang out of his chair

Sue tried not to get too worked up over getting the silent treatment. She'd be lying if she wasn't missed, but the other students weren't throwing a fit, so maybe ignoring people was normal here? She shrugged her shoulders and tried to move on, but the words of her classmates made her linger.
"Thanks, everyone!" She was glad she was getting attention, but of all the students who had comforted her, Theo was the one she'd taken a liking to the most. She hopped over to him, hands behind her head as she followed along.
"You sure, bad grandparents guy? I mean, I know some people can be assholes and I know they've got assholes, but most people who're assholes get their butts whopped my asshole-beating stick, so it's not like I've had to put up with that sort of thing a lot But this is a teacher asshole, so I don't think I can do that sort of thing and not get yelled at again, and I don't wanna get yelled at again."
She scratched her stomach, lazily starting at the ceiling as they slowly inched down the hall.
"Don't think I've met any grandparents though. Not sure I've got any grandparents! Like, I thought maybe I did, but it was some drugged-up baboon telling everyone they were ''everybody's grandparents, so that wasn't it. I think my mom maybe said I had some, but..."
Suddenly, she slowed to a crawl. Memories came trickling back, even as she tried to shore them up. It was the last thing she wanted to think about.
"...huh. Almost forgot I had a mom. Don't think I've seen her in years. That's... that's kind of funny, huh?"

Gala Muse
At Interceptor's answer to her questions, Gala pouted faintly. She proceeded to mostly ignore the rest of the Q&A, nibbling her way through the one snack she wanted and staring blankly at the rest.
Once Interceptor was out the door, Gala scooped up the rejected treats and rushed over to a metal storage cabinet in the corner of the room. She nudged the cabinet doors open with a hand and tossed the snacks in, heedless of where they might fall or what else was inside, and then slammed the doors shut again. The snacks were no longer tormenting her with their uselessness, which she considered a resounding success.
Gala moved to follow the others out the door, but paused to stare curiously at the bike stuck to the wall with some kind of webbing. Abruptly, she spun on her heel and jogged toward the girl who had done it, who was following the teacher with a look on her face like she'd eaten something poisonous. Gala reached up to tap her on the shoulder.
"Excuse me, are you spiders?"

Khulan - Perfectly Reasonable Question
"Hm?" One might have said Khulan was giving Gala a look, but she just hadn't let the air out yet. And she couldn't talk with that face. The maybe spiders girl held up a finger then exhaled deeply.
"Hey!" she greeted, face instantly brighter and waving. "Not spiders." She held out her hands. "Humans." After a beat she corrected. "Human. Singular." She did a twirl. "Human as a judge. Also Khulan. That's me. Khulan."
She stopped herself with some effort. "Are you spiders? Because that would be great. We could turn the gym into a trampoline park. We could be an army of eight legged freaks and swarm a town..." The wheels were turning now. Sure Khulan would only be one spider but the biggest one. Look with century eyes... Kana is giddy as she follows alongside Khulan, looking more than ready for battle. Meanwhile, Gala had asked a rather interesting question. Could people be made of spiders? Was that even a thing?
"Do you know a lot of people that are made of things other than people, lady? What are you made of?"

By now, the new student had slowed her pace so as to walk with the rest of the students, and while she was letting them do the talking, she was clearly listening in, if her gaze flicking from student to student was any indication. Without really thinking about it, her hand moved to caress the pendant she wore around her neck, an unconscious habit of hers she'd had for a while.

Interceptor's response to his question was surprisingly sincere, and Mikael's gaze softened. He was quiet as he rose to follow their teacher out the door, offering Interceptor a genuine salute as he did.
He took note of the late girl, but decided he could introduce himself later. The promise of combat filled his belly with warmth and made his blood pump a little faster. He cracked his knuckles as he walked, and the sound was strangely like a metallic click.
Mikael naturally overheard the weird snack girl talking to Khulan, and stepped closer to them. "You know, Khulan, for a human, you sure smell a lot like a demon." He eyed her with interest, though there wasn't any malice in his tone. He sounded almost amused, if anything. "Haven't been sampling demon blood, have you?"
What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?

As Fern has beginning to remember that one kung fu movie when she hears Khulan speaking about spider and wanting to be a part of something walks into the group talking, "So sorry to walk in and all that but, which one of you has the spider power? For I heard one of you say spider, also sorry" Fern says to both Gala and Khulan, God I hope this works, Fern thinks in her head.

Khulan - Me in a Crowd?
The attention made Khulan break out into a spontaneous giggle before she answered even one. "The spider that's me!" she twisted and hoisted her hands in the air waving with both as if Fern had not been standing right there. "No need to be sorry. I can shout 'I'm the spider' to the sky right now."
The other one, Khulan had to smell him. He was in her class. She was aware of him already. Him and the cafeteria's terrible lack of Mongolian bbq sauce. Well, it wasn't Mongolian but that's what it was called, and it was still good. Maybe not think of what's good... Especially since he moved closer to ask his question.
"Maaaayybe," Khulan singsonged an answer to his question while playfully rolling her eyes before staring into Mikael's. Blood and things. "♫Jeepers creepers, where'd you get those peepers..♫" She never stopped grinning but ended her impromptu musical number. "I would spy with my eyes a human girl." She pointed at herself. "I may have built up some bad sweat going down the highway this morning, but that's the fault of the Boba Shack."
"If you're worried though," Khulan clasped her hands behind her back and leaned into Mikael's face. It would be so cool if he wasn't so much taller than her! "I can take it easy on you when we hit the gym. I was thinking of doing that anyway, little demon."

Well, at least Interceptor won't be unreasonable. And there is a lot to be done.
"Well, as long as we aren't psychopaths or complete idiots, we should be fine" Sam muttered. Well, combat training, that'll be fun. He rubbed his neck, as the air in the room went colder for a second.
"Let's get this show on the road" He said.

Gala looked up at the others with an expression of mild interest. There was a beat of silence before she realized that somebody had asked her a question, and that she was supposed to respond. She smiled a pleased little smile and shook her head firmly.
"No! I'm rats. I probably could have been spiders at some point, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. Maybe when the rats die?" Looking toward Kana with a vaguely apologetic shrug, she continued, "I don't know how many people we count as, sorry."

When Khulan leaned towards him, Mikael leaned down to match her, so they could be face to face. He matched her grin with his own, though his was more savage, albeit still clearly playful.
"Oh, it's fine. I like it rough, so you'd best go as hard as you can." Mikael replied. "You're going to need to, to keep up with me. I'll even let you taste me, if you'd like. My blood's far more potent then whatever little hellbeasts you've been munching on."
He rose back to his full height, then turned to keep walking towards class. "I look forward to seeing you in action, big demon hunter."

Theo nodded, “Trust me on this one, Interceptor gave me the silent treatment too, so guy prolly just doesn’t like talkin’ more than he has to. And, uh, maybe hold off on whacking the teacher with a giant stick? That sounds like a detention at best, assault charges at worst kinda thing to me.” He nodded and listened to what she said about what she said about Grandparents as the two walked, “I mean, everybody’s gotta have grandparents, otherwise we wouldn’t be here, right—“ he paused as soon as Sue stopped to make sure she was alright, and found himself relieved as soon as she started speaking again, “You…forgot you had a mom? You don’t think she like, abandoned you, did she? Who the hell leaves their kid alone for years like that—” he stopped again, “Sue, you ok?”
Kirby-En Route to Trouble (Probably)
He'd frowned and slowed his steps as the idea of "combat room" caught up to his brain. I mean, I'm sure all will be well. I don't need the suit right now. I have to show I can operate without it. Not that there's anything wrong with needing it. It's just very useful. He couldn't help a self-depreciating chuckle at the probable reaction to his "true" power. I'll be King of The Very Tiny Hill!
Overhearing Gala's memorable question of "Are you spiders?" and Gala's answer about being rats, he made a mental note to double-check the TFX's sealing against bugs and critters. Not that he had any problem with either, but you never know. And where can I set it down to access it easily? What's medical care like in this school? As he walked, Kirby turned to Lucy. "So, looking forward to combat? I assume you've been in a few fights out there." He gestured to Mikael and Khulan. "They're certainly psyched." Despite his apparent hesitation, a part of him couldn't help but wonder how he'd fare against them...and kind of look forward to it, too. "I picked the wrong day to wear Stuart Hughes." Hearing the other student's question to the (monkey girl? lady ape?) he moved forward to add his support. "A sudden memory like that sounds odd. But I'm certain she cared about you. That's how Moms work, right? or they're supposed to, anyway."

"You're... a bunch of rats, huh?" she looked kind of bamboozled, but intrigued. "I don't know a lot about superpowers, but I'd say yours is pretty unique! That's cool!"
Eventually, someone tall, dark, and apparently demony caught her attention.
"Whoa, you're..." she looked over at Mikael. "Pretty tall. Which I guess isn't that noteworthy compared to spider gal and rat girl over here. Still, something tells me you'd be fun to fight! You just have that aura about you."
Liam
Again more Deja Vu.
This seemed so...weirdly familiar to Liam, though there were a few students who didn't quite fit. Like the weird girl who seemed to not just come from another place, but possibly even more than that. And then Interceptor came in, and Liam felt immediately rather awkward again. He was really not a people person, and just seemed upset all the time.
Though admittedly with what almost happened in here, Liam almost couldn't blame him too much. Almost. Liam had produced a golden shield briefly as it seemed the class was getting roughed up. He just felt too awkward to step in when things escalated. A flaw in his behavior he knew he'd need to deal with.
It seemed to be time for some question and answer. For now, Liam stayed quiet. He leaned back, thinking about how this year would probably be 1) loud and 2) full of this chaotic energy.
