Pretty damn good. I bet this will be like a Ghost of Tsushima or Lies of P situation where a game in the low 80's is recieved much better by the general public then by critics.

I'm going from "meh" to "huh" on thid game all right.

I'm still on fairly meh side because character design still reminds me of those "beautiful character mods" for skyrim and such. I'm mostly waiting to see if any of possible armors look cool I guess, like I wasn't ever able to get over silly costume design of xenoblade 2

Ng+ on launch tomorrow, has 34 new outfits for free in addition to the base game.

considering the Norse Go W's and Insomniac spiderman take ages for their NG+ updates, this is pretty damn fast for a Sony game. XD

Whatever floats their boat. This is the same dev behind Destiny Child and Goddess of Victory: NIKKE and the artist behind Magna Carta and Blade & Soul.

Its their bread and butter (no pun intended) at this point.

Hey I never said I had an issue with it.

Frankly I've found the whole "controversy" incredibly stupid since people said the same shit about Bayonetta and Nier and NOW those are beloved classics not to mention that western games add lots of horny anyway that don't really draw the same kind of ire.

I remember when people were pointing out the Hypocrisy of how people were Excited for Baldur's Gate 3's Sex scenes, saying that if BG 3 was an Asian Developed game with more Anime styled characters, they'd be called all sorts of nasty insults.

Kinda reminds me of some people saying Stellar Blades design of Eve was bad, but Hades II's new sexier art was perfectly fine. Ones Asian developed, ones developed by a Western Studio.

Seems suspiciously similar to the Anti Asian sentiment towards Asian games back in the 2000's and Early 2010's.......

Yeah I've noticed that a bit as well as the commentary on it which makes the whole thing so muddled.

I think people were pretty hyped for Unicorn Overlord's sexy designs and that's Japanese game? Like, I think its important to examine that kind of stuff, but be careful of cherry picking examples.

But heavy topic aside, maybe people are biased towards sexy 3d action games in particular. My own bias is towards human asses I find them gross more often than not, and even if devs find balance of it that feels sexy, it usually takes me out of game's tone. Like when you watch playthrough of that Alone in the Dark game from 2000s, it both has gross ass that makes horror game look silly because despite having fixed RE camera it feels it points straight to ass all the time.

Well that aside, I've kinda given up long time ago on expecting variance of body types in games so its just positive surprise when it happens, so I don't mind the super model bodytypes in games because thats not worth being annoyed by and while I'm not super keen on art style and characters faces, it has grown on me and gives me less flashbacks to xenoblade chronicles x with weird uncanny feeling.

Anyway, hmm, lot of outfits are pretty horny, but at least there are really cool fashionable ones among them even if there isn't really cool armored one.

x4 The sentiment never really went away it just sort of quieted down. The reason for its sudden resurgence in full force probably has a lot to do with Elden Ring and its success. There's a lot of crossover between the morons screaming about accessibility in a disingenuous way and the idiots who are nakedly racist towards the Asian game development space.

Despite coming from a company that is perpetually horny on main Unicorn Overlord's designs are pretty tame all things considered.

But I digress, I do hate modern game internet discussion space because now its confusing mix of racism towards Asian developers mixed in with far right folks who think asia is some sort of conservative heaven(those people ignore sexy western game as well, it's weird shit but I guess both examples are racists so makes sense enough?) mixed in with people trying to talk about things in both positive and negative without being confused for either one of those two

It's hilarious you think that kind of Orientalist bullshit ever really went away. It's always simmering under the surface, with this kind of double standard when it comes to sexual content in videogames being one of the symptoms.

Its something I've come to realize this week with release of Pathfinder Lost Omen: Tian Xia book which is trpg setting book where the company got Asian writers to write more culturally accurate stuff compared to old edition's equivalent of book. The reddit got massive amount of people banned for orientalism and "but my racist opinions isn't racist" :'D Orientalism is very much alive and its pretty horrifying.

Even beyond orientalism, the internet space also makes it hard to discuss sexy character designs and how to do it right nowadays and not just because its subjective opinion. Like people make it about objectification like if sexiness was itself objectifying, while ignoring questions like "Does it look cool? Does it look like it fits character's personality or tells something about them? Does it look like pinup? Does it fit the tone? Do you like well defined asses on Warframes and Xenomorphs?" And then there are bad faith actors who are like "lol, sexy owns libs" as if porn wasn't equal opportunity market.

Like Tifa and Aerith are sexy in those games, but I don't remember people having outcry about it. Is it because the are remakes of old PS 1 game or because main playable character is male? Like is this basically also a variant of hate towards female playable characters?

Sexism in videogames is also a thing that never really went away.

Well on different note, EA Japan complaining about Dead Space being banned for gore in Japan but this game getting pass made me check out monster design again. This game has excellent amount of beautiful body horror, more than I remembered from trailers. Oh no, it cycles back to me being so distracted by ass that I forgot

I feel like a bunch of the culture bs is just made up by chuds.

After reading enough about it, a lot is dumb stupid nonsense by a mix of bad faith actors on both sides of the equation as well as dumb people who should have known better(or again, bad faith) and other similar stuff that I can't recall the name for.

The online chuds will obviously screech that Japan/Korea are saving videogames because "rEaL wOmYns" or some other bullshit nonsense that's easily ignored and that's what should ALWAYS be done. The issue starts though when media outlets with some actual teeth jump in and make accusations of the director or producer being a perverted shut-in who's never seen what a women looks like or make excuses of why THEIR preferred brand of horny from western devs is more correct and appropriate than the one from an asian dev and start punching down on the game without knowing anything about it that the issues start.

That it's happened SEVERAL times before with Bayonetta and Nier just fills fans with irritated "Here we go Again" feelings that publications will either walk back when more of the games story comes out or double down on in some culture war bs nonsense. The issue I PERSONALLY HAVE is that we've seen this dog and pony before and it's a completely unforced error that didn't need to happen from publications. Hell, Kotaku's first article praises the game while acknowledging the cheesecake and just being "Hey you do you, ain't judging" which made me wonder what article people were talking about(it's the one about Hades 2).

Kotaku made a statement like that about Stellar Blade? Shit, I guess things are different in the years since I stopped going there.

Then again, multiple writers, so they might not all share that "you do you" opinion.

Certain sections of the internet did cry out about Tifa specifically, but that was the online chodes crying that her Remake design looks like an actual human & she wears a sports bra, instead of her being the hentai-warped image of her they've been fantasizing about for 20 minutes. They cried over this about her 15y/o flashback model in Rebirth as well.

The issue, as pointed out by the likes of PeanutButterGamer, was that the Stellar Blade's horny vs Hades II's horny was it, and quite a few other articles like from The Gamer and others like it was a "Rules for thee, but not for me" feeling to how it went down, like the writers had to make some justifications why Hades 2's Sexuality was better then Stellar Blade's, but at the end of the day, it was just a bunch of them going all Nerd Emoji and not owning up to the fact that they just had a difference in preference.
