Have you figured out today's Trope yet, ~The Mayor of Simpleton?
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.I learned this today totally independently... Happy American Chess Day! Though since it is Swedish, perhaps July 20 (International Chess Day) would have been more apropos?[smile]
What is Swedish?
"Listen up, Marina, because this is SUPER important. Whatever you do, don't eat th“ “DON'T EAT WHAT?! Your text box ran out of space!”relating to Sweden, its people, or their language.
I don't really have any guesses for the occasion behind today's trope. All I can comment is that Malaysia's Independence Day was on 31st August (2 days ago), and while that could be inherently related to a Peace Conference, I highly doubt that's the occasion behind it .
Hmmm, I was assuming Synchronicity was referring to the holiday but now I'm actually not so sure.

Creepypasta cleanup got two major pages for JTK and SlenderI meant, what is it that’s Swedish?
"Listen up, Marina, because this is SUPER important. Whatever you do, don't eat th“ “DON'T EAT WHAT?! Your text box ran out of space!”Synch correctly guessed that Chess with Death was due to American Chess day. We have plenty of Chess tropes, so it doesn't hurt to reference multiple ones. I forget what was there for July 20.
No, Peace Conference is referencing a subjugation day, not an independence day. Link to TRS threads in project mode here.
Ah - the image on Chess with Death is from a famous Swedish film, The Seventh Seal. The creator was inspired by a painting he saw in a church in Stockholm. While the trope is broader than the name, I was referring to that specific motif.
Is today's (Sept 2) Japan's WWII surrender?

The trope is broader than the name, but that film did a lot to capture the concept. I didn't know about the mural.
Correct again. Link to TRS threads in project mode here.
I did not know there was a National Skyscraper Day until I looked it up .
Creepypasta cleanup got two major pages for JTK and SlenderCorrectly identifying the inspiration for choosing Skyscraper City as Featured Trope.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Today's Hobbit day and guess which trope is featured today
Victor of HGS S320 | "There's rosemary, that's for remembrance. Pray you, love, remember."I didn't even have to look this one up, I just knew. Happy National Coffee Day!
Should this really be in Yack Fest? It's wiki-related and putting it here kinda makes it less noticeable.
If you want a featured trope, it's Paramedics Day in Poland tomorrow apparently. Or it's the 100th anniversary of the Treaty of Kars, so just put something related to Turkey or Soviet Russia.
Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)Well, maybe not today. If you want something for tomorrow or this month, check events here for some 100th anniversaries.
Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)I've added a few to the queue today, so it should start changing, starting tomorrow. I'll see what options I can pull from the hundred years ago, but real life events don't translate easily to tropes.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Looks like All Elections Are Serious Business has been on the main page for a few days now. Unless there's some big election I don't know of, it's probably time for a change.
Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)Tomorrow is unofficially Saxophone Day, so the featured trope could be either Sexophone or Sexy Sax Man. I’d prefer the latter, since it has less wicks.
back lolGuess not. Tomorrow's the day "Sixteen of the 18 crew of the Norwegian cargo ship Alf died when the ship foundered in the North Sea off of the coast of England near Lowestoft, Suffolk" according to Wikipedia, so maybe write about something from ALF... Amusing Alien, perhaps? (though I do see a bit of irony)

Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)Guess not. Tomorrow's the 100th anniversary of the day of the US-Austrian peace treaty, so maybe feature Yodel Land.

Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)Guess not. Tomorrow's the 100th anniversary the National Fascist Party was founded, so maybe Fascist, but Inefficient?
~Crazysamaritan, sorry to bother you, but I've posted here four times already...

Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Broke Episode is still up there after a few days. Today's the 100th anniversary Margaret Sanger gave a speech about contraceptives, so maybe But We Used a Condom!. Tomorrow's the 100th anniversary of the attempt to destroy Blessed Virgin Mary's image with a bomb, make it A Saint Named Mary then? I'll leave the day after tomorrow to someone else.

Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)Yeah, I got too busy to try throwing anything up. However, there should be a new trope up there now, and I've got the queue set up until the first week of January. I will hopefully be able to add the rest of January during the end-of-year holidays.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Alright then, nice work. I'm looking forward to seeing this.

This thread is for the discussion of the Featured Trope on the Homepage. Many of the tropes highlighted there are obscure (must have less than 10,000 wicks, preferably less than 1,000), but generally have an image, a good description, and hopefully very little problems with example context or indentation. ~crazysamaritan has been generally keeping it populated, and usually trying to connect the Featured Trope with a celebration from various calenders.
You can suggest tropes to be added to the list, use this to guess why today's article is being featured, or remind the moderators when a day repeats (generally means that the list ran out and more tropes need to be added). There was some interest expressed in the moderation discussion thread, so here's your chance to make your predictions and find those obscure connections.
