Never played Legend of Heroes, but as a Valkyria Chronicles fan, I can confirm that's a super generic way of describing the latter game's plot. You can cut that example.
Also, if Tears of Vermillion is part of the same franchise, the examples that refer to it are not valid. Shout-Out is a reference to something outside the work.
If that's so, so should other references to Nihon Falcom games be under Company Cross References, since NF is well-known for referencing past titles of theirs. In addition, what the references to Nanoha?, I don't know much about Nanoha so I can't tell if they are Shout Outs or not.

She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AHey just want to bring up something. So while browsing various pages for various Nihon Falcom games, I noticed that Shout-Out entries refer many of NF's earlier games. This got me wondering should we move those to Company Cross References or just leave them as Shout Outs?
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AIf they're previous unrelated games, they should go under Company Cross References.

Ok, but what about games that reference another game's plot point, like this one from Tokyo Xanadu:
- Rion's Paper-Thin Disguise is a pair of glasses she wears when out and about to avoid being recognized. This is an inverse to Machias' paper thin disguise in the second Cold Steel installment where he takes off his glasses to avoid being recognized by the Noble Alliance's army.
I don't see why that wouldn't also count as Company Cross References? Part of me thinks it's a stretch, but as I haven't played these games I can't judge that myself.
Glasses as a Paper-Thin Disguise did not exactly originate with that game company. I'm going to concur with saying that's not an example.
i was just putting up an example if certain plot points in one game being replicated in another one counts as a CCR, but If that's the case, I'll remove it.
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AShoto Todoroki from My Hero Academia is a walking Shout-Out to Prince Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender. At first I only added him as an Expy, before another user pointed out that his character is exactly like Zuko, from backstory, personality and looks and suggested I come here to discuss adding that to his page. I even wrote the comparison between the both of them in detail and now I realize the simillarities are way deeper than just an expy.
Just a question, I've been moving a few Shout-Out Examples to Company Cross References since some of those are made by the same company. So that does that mean I have move those to the main page. Because ShoutOut.Yakuza Like A Dragon has a few nods to other Sega games like Sonic the Hedgehog and Persona (The Like a Dragon, Sonic, and Persona franchises are all made by Sega, with Atlus being a Sega subsidiary) and I feel like they fit more as CCR.

She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AI found this in ShoutOut.Deltarune
- A possible example: in this universe, Alphys's and Undyne's first meeting of consequence consisted of Undyne destroying the former's bicycle (over a misunderstanding). This also happens to be the way Ash met Misty.
I'm unsure of it and the fact it's starts with "possibly" makes me doubt if the entry is valid.
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AI lean towards cutting it, since it may be a coincidence.
Seconded. Plus, the ways the bikes were destroyed aren't similar imo.
This point was recently removed from Trivia.Azumanga Daioh by Spectracus:
- Referenced by...: Super Jeenius' avatar and YouTube banner is an edited screencap of Chiyo reacting to Mr. Tadakichi charging at her.
The edit summary reads "ehh... a d-list youtuber having a Chiyo pfp isn't really notable." My question is, is this a valid reason for removing a Referenced by... example considering the whole "no such thing as notability" policy that this wiki runs on? Of note is that LetsPlay.Super Jeenius mentions Chiyo being the channel's avatar and banner under Shout-Out. Be kind.
This entry was added to Characters.Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny ZAFT Force (edit history is here).
- Shout-Out: Meer's character is this to the Hans Christian Andersen version of The Little Mermaid. (A mermaid is "Meerjungfrau" in German.) The mermaid in the story transformed her appearance completely through a bargain, gave up her voice for her dream, did not regain it, and Did Not Get The Guy she was in love with. Oh, and she ends up losing her life by sacrificing herself instead of the person she cares most about, just like that mermaid. It's even represented in one of the SEED Character Theater picture dramas, with Durandal playing the sea witch who transformed her.
According to the note on the Shout-Out page:
Thoughts?

He/His/Him. No matter who you are, always Be Yourself. These are on Bratzillaz:
- Shout-Out:
- Vampelina's magic is that she can see in the dark- the visual effect used is similar to Riddick's eyeshine.
- Vampelina also has a Brooklyn accent
- Fianna Fins has a shout which can clear the skies.
- The character bios on the Bratzillaz website list favorite movies- all 5 girls have actual movie titles instead of something made up.
- Hmm, could Jade J'Adore's heart-shaped pupils be a subtle reference to one of the endings of a recent freeware game? Given the subtle horror theme of Bratzillaz...
All of these feel like shoehorns, with the only exception being the fourth one that is a ZCE instead. The last one also suffers of Examples Are Not Recent.
The best character is always the one-shot disguise.I say cut all the bullets for the reasons you gave.
These are all on Trivia. The Loud House under Referenced by... and all sound like shoehorns to me:
- In Star★Twinkle Pretty Cure #16, Sakurako's Stealth Hi/Bye in the archery scene is very similar to Lucy Loud. This one is the one that sounds the most forced to me
- In Zombie Land Saga, one of the audience members◊ looks like Myrtle. "looks like" as in "they're both overweight women wearing a red sleeveless shirt" and nothing else
- In an Indian educational Youtube channel Peekaboo Kidz, some artworks have an artstyle almost similar to the show. This may sound fit, but I checked the channel and it may be considered plagiarism, expecially since one of the videos I noticed was a "Day of the Dead special" where they literally used Grim from The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy for their rendition of the Grim Reaper
The first two seem a bit suspect. I feel like The Loud House fandom is often subject to quite a bit of Fan Myopia, and, while I'm not too big on anime, I'm pretty doubtful that a somewhat popular Nickelodeon cartoon would be referenced by anime/manga creators on the other side of the Pacific. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think anime & manga often make Shout Outs to Western television unless they're immensely popular, on the scale of classic films or even Star Wars, much less a minor character on TLH.
EDIT: So I just looked at the image in the second example, and...yeah, those two characters barely look alike. Cut.

The first two sound like coincidences to me. I'm unsure about the third one, though.
On this example from Characters.Ciaphas Cain, should I just cut the first few words or should I remove this entry altogether?
@Ayumi-chan As for the Valkyria Chronicles reference, definitely a cut. I had to reference when both games came out and it's a 4-year difference. If anything… VC is shouting Zero/Azure out.
I already removed it.
Additionally, Valkyria Chronicles most definently does not reference Zero/Azure; VC was released in 2008 while Zero was released in 2010. So it doesn't make sense for Vc to make a shout out to a game that wasn't even released yet.
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AFound these badboys on ShoutOut.Trails Series
- Tio's Orbal Staff exhibits a few similarities to the Intelligent Devices from Nanoha, Raising Heart in appearance and Bardiche in function. Her crafts Ether Buster and Beam Zanber even invoke the names and complete animations of Raising Heart's Divine Buster and Bardiche's Jet Zanber (or just Bardiche's Zanber Form in general). The very first weapon upgrade you can buy for Tio is even called the Lyrical Cane, and its in-game item description ends with "Magical!", which references Nanoha's incantation "Lyrical Magical" that she used in the first season.
- As another Nanoha reference, this time to StrikerS, Elie's craft Cross Mirage shares its name with Teana's Intelligent Device, which is a handgun just like Elie's weapon. The animation for Elie's Cross Mirage even resembles Teana's signature attack, Crossfire Shoot.
The above two feels like coincidences to me'
- Mireille's character design is virtually identical to that of Mireille from Noir. Feels like a coincidence
- Lapis's order is called Palace Coppelion. Unsure, because I feel like this could be a reference to copper (the metal) but looking up coppelion on Google does bring up the series'
- Shizuna Rem Misurugi is a member of Ikaruga. Sounds an awful lot like Angelise Ikaruga Misurugi, the protagonist of Cross Ange. Feels like a coincidence
I'm very unsure of a lot of these because I'm not sure how popular they are in Japan and I can't 100% prove it.
