I've just read the novel, and it was great.

Does anyone know if the CGI adaptation was released on DVD?

Don't think so, considering it was a Netflix show.

Oh I see, that's a shame then.

Is the cartoon series worth watching? I heard it is more kid oriented. Somehow.

I did not like the 2D cartoon series. It created a warren that was even worse than Efrafa to keep the tension up, and it just felt... cartoony. It also had way more explicit magic which IMO didn't fit.

If you want sequel material, I recommend Tales From Watership Down. It's a lot of short stories, the first two parts about El-ahrairah, the last vignettes about the warrens after the failed invasion. The stakes are much lower, but it also means that Richard Adams didn't rely on creating a series of escalating threats to keep the story going.

The main page for the book did mention it was a mixed bag, does that mean the book was uneven in quality, or did they just mean it had varied topics?

And yeah, I saw some screenshots from the cartoon, and the rabbits seemed way too cartoony to me, and they were also anthropomorphized.

I imagine that they mean "mixed bag" as in "some stories are better than others."

I remember enjoying Tales.

I like the visuals and voice acting of the movie, but the short run time really rather ruins the pacing. The story is constantly in a rush to get from one story beat to another, never taking the time to develop any one scene, or to take in dramatic moments. The warren of the snares is a prime example, the whole thing is there and gone in all of one minute, you barely have time to figure out something's wrong before Bigwig walks into a snare and they are all off again.

Can't believe they skipped over Bigwig fighting a crow in favour of an owl grabbing a rabbit that wasn't even in the book.
