Acting Supernatural (Reboot)

7:47am or so, Little Haven, outside Oddity High - Alex Palencia the not well adjusted werewolf

After eating a few more pieces of jerky and stowing the bag away in his backpack, Alex decided to head around to the front side of the building and see if anyone else was showing up yet.

... Which is a generous way of saying that he was carefully peeking around the corner because he didn't want to be surprised by anything. He still felt jumpy, and was working under the assumption that being startled would be a pretty bad thing right now. So, he slowly peered his head around the corner and- was that a limo?

Forgetting his attempts at sneaking, Alex stared slack jawed at the limousine driving away. Thoughts were crossing his mind so fast that any one hardly even had time to register before the next came to him. Is this a school for rich and snotty kids? Why would they accept me in? Wait maybe it's no coincidence, and monster families get rich and stuff from their powers? Is it all werewolves? Other types of lycanthropes? Wait I bet a vampire family would totally splurge to have their kid show up to school in a fancy limo. Oh crap am I gonna get dragged into one of those generations-long blood fueds and have to fight a vampire? How am I supposed to fight someone if they can fly and all I can do is bite and claw? Damn it it's not fair that I'm totally new to this and all of them have been part of this all their lives! This is all such crap!

Now frustrated and feeling resentful to the other students over something they hadn't actually done, Alex kicked his foot against the wall in a small outburst of emotions. Alex took a few deep breaths, then crossed his arms and walked around the corner to vaguely approach the gathering of other students. He regarded them with an openly hostile if somewhat dull glare, even as he was trying to piece together what they might be... He was having little luck from just their appearances though. That girl that looked like My Little Pony had puked out all its diabetic-causing sugariness onto her was some kind of literal fairy maybe? Then there was the, boy... Girl? Uh, ambiguous teen with the umbrella despite it being a sunny day seemed suspicious enough to peg as a possible vampire. No wait, the kid with as much of their body covered up as possible was the more likely vampire; especially since the only part Alex could see, around their mouth, was very pale skinned. They're probably only keeping that part uncovered so they can show off their fangs Alex thought to himself as he stared at them. As for the rest of the students, Alex hadn't seen anything that gave him hints he could work off of at the moment.

Oddity High Front

Blake had been silent for a bit, just lingering there at the edge of the cluster of students as they arrived individually. There was quite the diverse crowd forming; pretty normal kids like him and a girl that seemed to be blind and waxy and talking in the third person and of course one of them literally just briefly turned into an entirely different person... What mostly led him to just dumbfounded staring at the group however was a brief bout of sing-song voice that just kinda blanked out Blake's current train of thought until it passed and he found enough force of will to actually speak.

"What the heck kinda school is this?"

As Mindy decided to make the move herself and put herself out there, she watched as Mimi briefly introduce herself to Mindy, and looked to be on the verge to tell her something only to stop herself and stomped her foot. As Mimi had to explain she could say anything about what her deal is, Mindy just looks at her with a baffled, but cutting expression.

"So, yeah, I just met you and you already sound like a dweeb. Great."

She shook her head as she turned her attention to Robin asking her if she was new, just like Robin is apparently.

"Yeah. I'm from Brooklyn. Like my home there and I had my own circle there. Then my mom had to move over here because she wanted me to go to this stupid school. And I know right now I'm gonna hate it here."

She sighed in frustration as she noticed Alex coming by, giving off that hostile look as he approaches the other students. Who does this guy think he is, she thinks to herself. Is he supposed to be this tough guy or what? She's not gonna let herself by intimidated by whatever he's supposed to be. She's someone who's had years of practice being the tough girl who doesn't take anybody's shit. She looks Alex in the eye as he approaches everyone else with a look of her own. Her eyes narrowing, her teeth gritting, a look that says for itself: don't fuck with her or you'll regret it.

7:49ish — Val Null

Val had been doubting their prior decision to wait until someone noticed them since it was made, and this was the point when the balance flipped.

They walked slightly closer to all the commotion, and without engaging anyone in particular, said, "...hi. I'm, uh...I'm Val."

Their voice sounded...hollow, almost, but there was a certain other quality to it that was hard to place.

Loki looked over to the other kid who had just spoken and gives a friendly little wave.

Hi, Val! I'm Loki, he said rapidly. Nice to meet you. So what brings you to le Oddity High?

He wasn't sure what had prompted him to add the "le" before "Oddity High -" he certainly wasn't French.

"...Well, I, uh..." Did that guy just...naw, naw, couldn't have been. It's early in the morning, only half awake, probably just a trick of the light...wow, that singing is soothing.

"Y'know what, I'm in the same boat. Can't actually show what I do out in the open, or god knows what would happen." If these people were anything like his parents, they'd freak out and faint in no particular order. Or maybe, y'know, just laugh at him. Laugh at the dumb kid turning into a skimpy girl. Teens were like that.

Then up rolled a limosine, and out hopped some girl covered up like she was dodging the paparazzi. Kayden let out a wolf whistle. "Didn't think this place was THAT high class."

Kayden burst out laughing. "What, you seriously don't know? How desperate are the folks around here sending kids to THIS kinda place for a school?"

Gill turned towards the couple of new people who had arrived. A couple of angry people, and a few who were totally bundled up.

"Oh wow, so many new people are here, this place is the best! There are more people here than I've seen in a very long time! Oh man, this gets better and better..." He grinned, doing a theatric bow before briefly losing his footing and moving to correct his stance.

"I'm Gill!" he introduced. "And why the frowns? We're all gonna learn so much and it's gonna be amazing! Do people not like to learn things? That's a shame. This is the biggest day of my life."

He jumped a little when he heard Kayden's derisive laughter, asking who would send people to a school like this.

"Well, nobody sent me here," he pointed out. "I chose to come here all by myself, so there!" He didn't seem upset by the accusation.

Nicholas

Nicholas stuck his hand out in response to Robin's greeting. "I'm Nicholas," he said. There was an awkward silence.

"So why're you here?" he asked. Maybe he'd get some information to send to Regan.

Outside Oddity High — Val Null

"Yeah, 'le' Oddity High...heh heh..."

There was a short pause before Val realized that they were asked a question. "Oh, my...uh...my parent, um, told me about it...and I decided that I, um, wanted to go...because why not..."

"...kinda regretting it now..."

7:49am or so, Little Haven, outside Oddity High - Alex Palencia the antisocial werewolf

That little feeling of being watched finally distracted Alex from staring at the girl covered head to toe he still suspected was a vampire, so he glanced around again to see who was staring at him. Along with noticing a second kid covered head to toe who also seemed a possible vampire, Alex saw that one of the only normal looking girls was glaring angrily at him. Aha, a territorial and aggressive vibe, there was the first person who was possibly another werewolf or other lycan. Maybe there's some giveaway I'm unaware of that made her know I'm a werewolf... Ah crap, these weirdos probably have their own unique lingo too; they'll know right away I'm an outsider, won't they? Alex thought to himself.

Though he still kept a pretty resentful look on his face, Alex turned his eyes away from the girl and shuffled his feet a bit awkwardly. He thought nothing of it consciously, but subconsciously it was a show of trying to not look like a threat. The other kids were talking to each other, but Alex wasn't yet feeling like approaching to join the conversation. He figured he'd just keep over here for now, where he could sort of overhear parts of it.

All the conversation about people showing off or discussing their abilities or powers was...a little unsettling. Weren't any of them afraid that someone in the staff wou-

...It took a few more seconds before the penny dropped and it all clicked together. Unless it was a really...really crazy coincidence.

...Guess they missed that part of the memo either way as Robin gave a curt nod at Nicholas. Best to just play dumb.

"Because it's the closest school around as far as I can tell!" was the cheerful reply.

Mimi

“Mimi's gonna love this school...~!” Mimi sang cheerily, doing a little jig in place as she hopped excitedly upon ‘seeing’ more people. “Who's she gonna be best friends with... mmmmm...”

Her eyes flickered momentarily into the back of her skull as Gill's singing registered to her again, before she perkily strode up to him and poked his nose with a very squishy finger.

“You.” :)

Oddity High Front

After listening to everyone's replies for a bit Blake mulled it over before pointing at Mindy.

"Yo! We have the same story! Mom told me nothing about this beyond it being a new school while we're living in this town... I swear if she just shoved me into weird people school I'm gonna..."

He grumbles and rolls his eyes.

Don't worry! We're not weird! ...Okay, I may be a bit weird, but the rest of them... okay, there's Mimi. And Gill... Look, forget I said anything.

Already groaning with all these people here who are weirdos and that Alex guy who she decided she wasn't going to let him push her around, she happens to lose her scathing glare as she turns her attention to Blake who tells her that they have similar stories. Needless to say, she seemed intrigued by Blake. She thinks to herself maybe there's someone here she can relate to. She decides to approach Blake.

"Yea, that so? My mom dragged me to this stupid place because-" she manages to stop herself because it's pretty personal and well, let's not disturb the one guy who may understand her. "Eh, never mind that. So you from Brooklyn, too?"

Gill blinked when Mimi poked his nose, then his smile grew.

"I like that idea," he told the slime girl. "And I like the way you think. It's official! Let's be friends!" he chuckled.

His attention turned towards Loki, who seemed to imply he was weird.

"That's why I'm here!" he told the young man. "I want to learn as much as I can so I can fit in perfectly!" He grinned. "Then I'm gonna make friends with all of you!"

Front Of School

"Queens, actually. My parent's workplace was like, a block away from my house so I got to visit occasionally."

Blake hums a little, shuffling his feet now that he's on the spot for conversation.

"You ever seen that big-ass globe? Used to have lunch out in the park there on weekends."

"Oh, Queens, huh? That's cool. I've been up there several times to watch the Mets play and know this place that has great Mexican food. And that sphere? You talkin' about the Unisphere in Flushing Meadows, right? Yea, it's kinda big, ain't it?"

Front of School

"Hyuge. They don't do things small at a World's Fair after all... Kinda sad that concept just straight up died out."

Blake sighs, wistfully. He idly ponders whether he accidentally implied something utterly false about him to this group of odd people attending this odd school. He considered, maybe he should fake being odd in that way, to fit in.

"Not that I was there, of course. Way before my time, yaknow."

7:49am or so, Little Haven, outside Oddity High - Alex Palencia the imposter syndrome werewolf

It was... strange, to Alex's expectations. The pastel girl talking in the third person was a giveaway to her not having a normal upbringing. There was a boy straight up saying he was weird. Then there was the plain looking boy straight up saying he was weird. The redheaded boy then talked about wanting to 'fit in' and make friends with everyone, sounding like a character straight out of one of those little kid cartoons where each episode teaches some soppy lesson about family values or whatever. However then in contrast, there was the territorial girl and some boy chatting like two completely normal kids, about living in New York.

... Wait, New York? They were from New York and came here, to absolutely nowhere important AKA Little Haven? That along with the limo, was this little school a much bigger deal than Alex thought? Or there could be a more logical explanation...

Thought the freaking werewolf standing outside a school advertising itself as a school for students like... Well, like a werewolf Alex thought to himself, leaning his head back and giving the slightest of groans after seriously thinking of something as stupid as a, 'logical explanation'. Still, it did seem like he probably wasn't seeing the whole picture here. After bringing his head back down, he thought for a few more moments, then slowly took a couple steps closer to Mindy and Blake. "Hey, big city kids" Alex started, trying to sound like he was only vaguely interested in a kind of, 'cool guy doesn't care about stuff' way, but his general anxiety was leaking through and nearly made his voice crack. "Do they have schools like this in New York?" he asked, with a little tilt of his head to the building beside them.

Mimi

“Yes!! Mimi's made a friend!” :D Mimi happily cheered, placing a wide grin on her face before lunging forward to give Gill a massive bear hug. “First friend at her new school...! She's good at making friends~” :)

It was uncertain how she managed to fit moods into her speech alone, but given how awkward her actual facial expressions were it was probably a necessary thing to learn. Her not getting visual feedback due to her apparent blindness probably contributed to this.

And there Mindy was, she thought she could found someone she could relate to with Blake, but then all of a sudden with him trying to imply he was a time traveler, which she thought was obviously bull, she's now starting to wonder about him all of a sudden, as she drills a look of skepticism right into him with a dash of anger.

"Man, don't tell me you're gonna start actin' like a dweeb here. Tryin' to say you're a time traveler or somethin'? Please. Come on with that, not in the mood for games right now."

Then she sees Alex approaching them here asking if they have schools like this in New York. The same guy who came in here earlier, with them both exchanging glares, not letting herself be intimidated. She still feels a little bit cautious and begins to clinch her fist in case he tried something.

"No. Otherwise we wouldn't be in this stupid place, would we?"

School Front

Blake for a moment had this face of utter 'I fucked up' cringe.

"Pft, no. I'm not. Don't know how you got that, I'm just... Fuck it was a cool thing we don't have anymore. Nothing more than that."

He kicks the ground a little bit.

"Besides, if I was then I'd at least know why I'm even here..."

Loki sees the kid who just started talking to people (that is, Alex) and goes to say hello.

Hi there. Name's Loki - make of that what you will. He was a bit hesitant to be as up-front as he had been towards Kayden, Gill, and Mimi, since Kayden's reaction had been... not great. What's your name?

Alex's eyebrows raised a little after Mindy's answer to him. "Really? So little ole' Little Haven has something the Big Apple doesn't; who would've thought" Alex mused; he didn't mean for it to come across as smug, as he really was just idly stating it, but he also hadn't put thought into not seeming like a smug jerk.

Before that conversation could continue though, another boy suddenly interjected himself onto the scene, (that Alex had basically done the same himself just a minute ago did not cross Alex's mind) introducing himself as... Loki. Alex couldn't help but look over at Loki with an incredulous expression as the werewolf pondered over that.

The way Alex figured it, there were three- no, four possibilities. The first, and second, were that the kid's name was genuinely Loki, because his parents were just weird, or because that kind of name was common in this supernatural community. Third was that his name was not actually Loki, but it was some kind of code name or riddle meant to either weed out any normals trying to sneak into the supernatural community, or give some kind of hint as to what kind of supernatural thing this kid was. The fourth, and what Alex considered most likely, was that this kid's name was not Loki, and he was just a joker who was big into those superhero movies. Now, even though Alex thought the fourth was the most likely, he considered the possibility of the third as he thought of how to respond.

"Uh huh, 'Loki', real original" Alex started with a fair deal of sarcasm. "Well I guess you can either call me Alex or the Big Bad Wolf" he then said, to actually answer the question.
