So, it's been a trend for soft-split tropes to be split into multiple sections even when it's not needed and makes the page a hassle to navigate. In some cases, the trope in question is so large that hard-splitting some (or all) of the internal subtropes into their pages is more beneficial than letting them take over the page.
EDIT: Here’s the sandbox for this effort—Sandbox.Soft Split Cleanup

Last time I saw, Big Eater was split into thin, fat, and normal-sized characters. Is this necessary?
For every low there is a high. That does seem... odd. Someone has, in fact, edited that split out of the Main/ page, but the category subpages retain it.
On second thought, though, examples seem to run a very wide gamut from Rusty of Ocean's Eleven, who is a trim, athletic, normall-ish looking human who's always got (a realisicaly believable amount of) food, to characters consuming more than their body weight at a sitting without any visible effects.
Perhaps there are a couple of sub-tropes in here?

^ Don't think so. Big Eater is usually just a character quirk and the fact that they rarely face the consequences of their excessive diet could probably just be chalked up to The Law of Conservation of Detail. If their diet to result in negative consequences (e.g. being overweight, health problems), it's simply a deconstruction of the trope.
Re Nerd Glasses: to removing the soft split.

Black Comedy Rape is split into numerous subsections, divided by the nature of who/what the rapist/victim is. Some of these subsections direct to other tropes that cover the same material (e.g., Bestiality Is Depraved, Double Standard Rape: Female on Male, etc,), so I wonder if those entries would be better served moved to separate pages.
Also, in a quick scan, at least some entries are not played for comedy, which means they are misuse...
I've created and started working on Sandbox.Cat Girl, if anyone wants to pile in. This one may take a while. If this version of softsplit ends up working out, where should we put the ZCE? For now, I'm dumping them in their own folder, along with ambiguous entries, pending feedback from people who know the works involved.
I would personally comment out the ZCE and sort them to whatever section they were in before the reorganization. No idea what to do with misc examples yet. I will help when I have the time to.

Macron's notesThat's part of the problem... not all of the media categories were sorted, and some of the others are only partially sorted.
Constellations has a four-way soft split between "constellations as a motif, someone's soul, or the basis of something", "fictional constellations", "constellations as a gag", and "constellations treated as a location". What do we do in this situation?
Listen to my podcastI mean it kinda sounds like the issue with that page is that constellations aren't a trope.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing. The Tonsillitis Episode is currently soft-split between tonsillectomies and wisdom tooth extractions. Maybe we could make Short Term Medical Procedure Episode as a supertrope?
Rock'n'roll never dies!I tend to agree... looks similar to, if cleaner than, the situation we started with on Fainting.
Would there be enough differentiation to support another layer in the trope-tree? Or would it perhaps be enough to broaden the title and description a bit and remove the soft-split?

I was the one responsible for The Tonsillitis Episode soft split. I noticed in the trope description that it said that The Tonsillitis Episode was falling out of favor and newer works were more likely to use wisdom teeth extraction as the surgery of choice. I created a draft for Wisdom Teeth Episode, but most of the feedback said it was unnecessary. Someone suggested that I just soft-split The Tonsillitis Episode page and create a redirect for Wisdom Teeth Episode, which I thought was a good idea. That's why the trope has a soft-split for wisdom teeth. I didn't get around to creating the redirect though.

Created Sandbox.Nerd Glasses to sort out examples. Maybe we can alphabetize them while we're at it as well.
Perhaps this is late in the game, but I don’t think catgirls that are actually part cat versus girls that just look and act like they are is particularly important, and I oppose a soft split for that reason. This was also the consensus of the TRS. Example context about characters who are part of a cat girl species can go on Beastmen.
"It's just a show; I should really just relax"It’s probably better to just have everything just be in media categories at this point anyways. Either way, the way it’s soft split now isn’t great.

Macron's notes, I could probably get behind that as well. From what I've seen so far, it appears that there are relatively few "Cat-Theme" examples anyway. (though, there are some... odd variants on this trope, and a couple outright misuse in there.)
Shall I reset the sandbox to match the current main page & we can go from there?
Yeah I think that is fine.
Macron's notesSandbox.Cat Girl has been reset to undo the split work I'd started.
Is this really an example?
- Steven Universe features a very nightmarish example when Steven learns the ability to literally shape parts of his body into cats. It actually gets to a point where he almost becomes a boy completely made entirely out of cats while slowly being consumed by his monstrous form. Thankfully, his dad was able to save him by dousing him with water in their car wash before he was gone forever.
What's the best way to fit the constellations issue mentioned above? launch seperate trope for each split?
Listen to my podcastYeah that’s more Body Horror than anything else.
Constellations aren’t tropes on their own so might be worth splitting off some of the sections into their own tropes. I think the first folder is covered by Cosmic Motifs and Stars Are Souls though.

Macron's notesI guess I'll start with "Fictional Constellations", then
Listen to my podcastMade a TLP for Fictional Constellations. I think Constellation Motif and Constellations Treated As Place are also tropeworthy, but idk if Constellation gag is
Listen to my podcastMight want to mine "Constellation Gag" for examples, though - that Shrek example fits as "fictional constallations"
True, and looking closer, so does the Kingdom of Loathing one

I am down to remove the soft split off Nerd Glasses if others agree. Granted there are tons of ZC Es but I am sure there’s some good examples left. If the Z Es are a sign of a larger problem, then we can take it to the appearance clean up thread.
