Comfort characters

Elsewhere, I've seen mentions of certain fictional characters being one's "comfort character" - quite simply, a character you find to be comforting, often to the point of being a coping mechanism. I think the idea's cute, and I figured it'd be a nice idea to start a thread about them since it looks like nobody else has done so yet.

Do you guys have someone you consider a comfort character?

Tails and Klonoa. They're both so cute and innocent.

Most Muppets in general, but Kermit singing The Rainbow Connection is something I really like.

Mario and Luigi are two for me, both separate and in combination with each other.

If we put it this way: Mario is comforting to me because I just enjoy hearing the energy in his voice in his games - You can tell that he's having an absolute blast on his adventures, even when the whole world is at stake. And Luigi... My gosh, he's Adorkable incarnate - His mannerisms, facial expressions, body language, he's just a delight to see in action.

But combined... I'm an absolute sucker for family love and wholesome sibling relationships, and seeing these two interact in these games always brings a smile to my face and "Aaaaaw..."-s to my heart. (Which is my Dream Team is my favorite of the M&L games) Mario glomping Luigi after the latter rescues him in Luigi's Mansion 3 had me Squee-ing like there was no tomorrow.

Kasumi, my beloved.

Since I haven't mentioned it yet, I think Sig and Amitie might be becoming my comfort characters. They have really goofy but innocent personalities (Amitie is a Dumb Blonde and energetic Nice Girl, while Sig is a calm bug-obsessed geek), and they're ridiculously easy to ship with each other given the in-universe hints. They're so sweet and cuuuuuuute.

Nearly everyone in LittleBigPlanet but especially Sackboy, Newton, N.a.o.m.i, Scarlet and Vex.

I got more if anyone is interested.

This thing might have been an emotional crutch to me for about six years now. For some reason, I just love it more than pretty much anything else in the world.

I doubt this will do much, but I think I'll bump this thread, just for funsies.

Probably my favourite Pokémon, Shuckle. The little guy isn't good in competitive but I love using him, he's so charming and I own a plush of him.

Yoshi, both "the" Yoshi and the species in general. I just love those cute dinos x3

I've... Got quite a few comfort characters. One of them is Rebel Cookie, due to me deciding to roleplay as him in A Game of Mafia 1. He was really fun to RP as, and he just seems pretty chill overall! A shame he's not in Ovenbreak yet.

The Disney Princesses. :) As a matter of fact, watching Sleeping Beauty while I had dinner last night was one of the things that helped to cheer me up after my disastrous day of work.

Kirby. No, not Kirby Buckets for once. The Kirby.

I usually imagine my own comfort characters, because I can never find a show that quite fits what I want. My most precious are a small soft-spoken boy who is smitten by a scrappy and short-tempered delinquent girl, much to her embarrassment. She tries to humiliate him but only ends up embarrassing herself further. I picture them in a Puni Plush style with soft colours.

They actually sound very adorable!

All nice characters who are either cute or caring or both, the lot of them.

For me, it is the MLP ponies. Just because.

Probably Smiley Sundae from Riddle School/Transfer, Charles Calvin from the Henry Stickmin series, or Homestar Runner from well... Homestar Runner.

Rarity and Applejack, especially non-erotic shipping art of 'em. My anxiety calmed when I found some art, which is really nice.

...I think the entire Golden Deer house are starting to become this for me. Especially Claude. I dunno, I just... when I see his face, I feel like everything's alright.

Deku is a major one for me. I quickly found myself identifying with him, and I headcanon that he, like myself, is on the autism spectrum. I also find it comforting that he doesn't always succeed on his first attempt, because it reminds me that it's okay to fail or to not be the best at something right away. The same goes for him getting emotional over things. He cries sometimes, but that doesn't make him weak.

For years I've had characters from The Nostalgia Critic as my comfort characters. It sounds cringey but I like it cuz so few others can claim them. I love Hyper Fangirl, Devil Boner, and Benny.

I also really like Kyle Broflovski, Kenny McCormick, Butters Stotch, and Rebecca Cotswolds. Sometimes I'll just stop caring about South Park because I'm just not comfortable with it but I'll watch a compilation of Kyle kicking Cartman's ass and it provides me with a lot of serotonin.

Other examples^note some of these are kins but I'll leave that to you to find out:
