I presume Kevin Hart will be Roland? I know we already heard that Cate Blanchett will be Lilith. I don't think I've ever seen Hart in a Straight Man role.
Blanchett must have enjoyed working with Eli Roth on his last flick.
I remember Blanchette being attached years ago. Surprised it's still happening.
I still think the best move is to set it in the universe of Borderlands rather than adapt because I think even the best parts of the games work because they're a video game medium.
No thank you until we have a trailer proving they didn't screw it up horribly.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).It wasn't in doubt, it was announced awhile back.
Holy fuck, its gonna be a shock if Hart is playing Roland.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."There is a Kevin Heart gif that shows my reaction quite well. You know the one. I think it is safe to say that I will see it regardless of reviews. It just seems so weird.
“You can’t be an important and life-changing presence for some people without also being a joke and embarrassment to others.” -Mark Manson.I mean, we don't know that Hart will be Roland yet. He's just the most important black character in the series, so it would be odd for a big name actor (announced near Lilith) to be playing someone else.
I hear Jamie Lee Curtis will play Tannis.
What is happening with this movie? What next? Antonio Banderas as Mordecai? Gary Oldman as Handsome Jack?
“You can’t be an important and life-changing presence for some people without also being a joke and embarrassment to others.” -Mark Manson.Jamie Lee Curtis has pulled off crazy before. Though she's a bit older than I pictured for Tannis, that's not a dealbreaker.
Margot Robbie as Mad Moxxi...
“You can’t be an important and life-changing presence for some people without also being a joke and embarrassment to others.” -Mark Manson.×2
Yeah, i actually really like that casting.
Jamie Lee Curtis is the least weird and unlikely casting of the three. She's an outspoken video game fan and goes to conventions frequently with her son. I can see her signing up for a fun video game based movie.
“You can’t be an important and life-changing presence for some people without also being a joke and embarrassment to others.” -Mark Manson. The casting just got a whole lot weirder...
Jack Black is in the movie as Claptrap.

Jack Black fits Claptrap surprisingly well.

Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.Yeah, I buy that.
He is also a huge video games fan and has worked on them before.
Henry Cavill as Krieg?
“You can’t be an important and life-changing presence for some people without also being a joke and embarrassment to others.” -Mark Manson.Honestly, I could see that as well. I've never seen Henry Cavil do crazy, but he can pull off the right exasperation for Sane!Krieg.
And yeah, Jack Black is great for Claptrap.
Yeah, Jack Black as Claptrap isn't that weird.
Speaking of Claptrap…
He wanted to announce that Borderlands wrapped filming!
Okay, that Claptrap prop really slaps. Not sure if he'll be CG when he moves around and the prop is to give the actors something to respond to, but whatevs!

Eli Roth Exits Borderlands, Tim Miller Hired For Extensive Reshoots.
Apparently test audiences did not like Eli Roth's version, so they're going in another direction. I don't know what this will mean for a release date. Actually did we ever get a release date?
Survey says we didn't.
A bummer that Eli Roth's vision wasn't clicking, perhaps it was too different from his usual forte in horror filmmaking?
Tim Miller did the first Deadpool movie, so I don't think this is the worst thing ever...yet.
On the flip side, Roth is evidently working on a full-fledged movie based on his fake Thanksgiving movie trailer seen in Grindhouse, so that's not a total loss either. (Cool piece of trivia, now that Thanksgiving is getting a movie, that means 3 of the 5 Grindhouse trailers are actual movies!)

The Deadpool movie actually did fit the tone of the the Borderlands games pretty well. Maybe the issue was less the film being too different from Eli Roth's usual fare and more him making it more like his normal movies.
That's right, an adaptation of Borderlands has been confirmed by Variety. However, unlike other projects which announce before casting begins, this film has already cast its leads, Kevin Hart and Cate Blanchett.
While I don’t know who was clamoring for it, attached stars makes it far more likely that we’ll actually see it.
