So, apparently, E750 AKA Scorpius Rex has been leaked in some photos of concept art and a toy prototype.

It just looks like they stuck a scorpion tail on the Indoraptor.

Huh. They made this dino hybrid more disturbing by giving it much less dinosaur like body shape [lol]

Genuinely surprised that they made it off the island. Accidentally smuggled a dinosaur doing it, but they made it.

I imagine they probably won't be going back to Isla Nublar in season 4. Are they going to reach the mainland only for that dino to create problems? Or possibly wind up having to abandon ship somewhere else? Maybe we'll wind up with the kids on Isla Sorna, allowing us to see what's up with Sorna for the first time in the post-World continuity?

Already hungry for what's coming next.

Finished the season, found the Scorpius somewhat interesting. I was surprised that they gave Wu some sympathetic moments given that the movies don't. Also, Kenji turned into a short-sighted asshole in the last episode didn't he but I'm not sure if he's supposed to be treated as right by the narrative or not?

I wouldn't say so. The plan seemed fairly solid given that even when the timing got suddenly accelerated it still worked pretty well.

I think it's meant to be ambiguous. Nobody is clearly in the right here.

Kenji would say that it worked out pretty well because the timetable got suddenly accelerated. "Accelerated" here having the meaning of "Kenji was able to meet the deadline that may have been missed had they taken their time to delete the laptop." Letting it be smashed by an ankylosaurus achieved the same results as spending an hour wiping its hard drive; however, if they missed the two-hour window, who knows what would have happened to Brooklynn.

In a bit of dramatic irony, none of what happened with the laptop even matters anyway. It drove a wedge between Darius and Kenji, but their "victory" accomplished nothing in the long run. The other team retrieved the Indominus sample, so Wu got what he came for anyway.

It's a bit weird that it's Kenji of all people who is calling Darius out, given that Kenji has so far proven entirely incapable of planning a piss in a toilet.

Having issues with Darius's leadership is probably legit but having them expressed by The Load of the team is an odd choice to me.

I can understand where Kenji's coming from.

     Spoilers
The group took a sudden swerve from Action Survivors to Action Heroes in this season and Kenji didn't make that jump with the others. To everyone else's perspective, he's reluctant and kinda cowardly. But from Kenji's, it's easy to see him as the Only Sane Man.

  • Darius: If we leave now, the Scorpiuses will run amok on this island!
  • Kenji: I'm not sure I understand how that's our problem.
  • Sammy: We need to use everything we have to face these deadly carnivore monsters and defeat them!
  • Kenji: What?! Why?! We can just leave! The monsters aren't going to follow!
  • Brooklynn: Haha! We have slain the wicked monsters!
  • Kenji: SOMEHOW!
  • Ben: Oh no! Dr. Wu has captured Brooklyn and he wants his laptop back or something bad might happen to her!
  • Kenji: Okay, so we give him the laptop and he takes us home, right?
  • Yas: No, this is our elaborate plan to defeat Dr. Wu, destroy the laptop, and save the world!
  • Kenji: What?! Why?! A way home from this island is literally in sight!
  • Darius: As people who are present on this island, we have a moral obligation to defeat any who would usurp the sanctity of these dinosaurs and threaten to do harm!
  • Kenji: DO WE, THOUGH?!

[up] I understand where he was coming from when it came to leaving the island during the Scorpius Rex attacks but with Wu they were specifically trying to prevent him from making more hybrid dinosaurs that are going to kill people, yes they still got the Indominus sample but the kids didn't know about that. As far as they knew, they were preventing even more genetically engendered monsters from being let lose on the world.

Right. Their plan is to turn their backed up copy of the laptop contents over to the police once they get to Costa Rica, then let the wheels of justice deal with Wu.

It's a bad plan, mind you. It assumes that the wheels of justice are on their side. Wu's not the villain here; he's a guy being paid to do a job. The villains are the people who keep paying him to manufacture genetically-engineered theme park monsters and the people who further pay him to turn those theme park monsters into military weapons. The kids are laser-focused on thwarting Wu but this is so much bigger than one dipshit scientist.

But they don't know that. They think if they turn Wu in to the cops and give the cops the backup copy of his hard drive, then Wu will be arrested and there will be no more theme park monster weapons. With that rose-tinted view of what's going to happen when they hit Costa Rica, how much does deleting the hard drive even matter?

Kenji considers it an unnecessary risk. It's going to take another hour to do it and they can't possibly have much of their two-hour window left at this point. If they give Wu the laptop back, then they're still going to turn him in to the cops and have him arrested when they get to Costa Rica. But if they miss their window, if Wu decides they aren't coming because they got there half an hour late, then what happens to Brooklynn?

Ultimately, they managed to destroy the laptop in the chaos of the ankylosaur attack anyway so it doesn't even matter whether they deleted the hard drive. By jumping the gun, Kenji saved Brooklynn's life and sacrificed nothing doing it.

[up][up][up] It feels like that jump happened or at least strongly started in season 2 when they decide they gotta thwart the poachers

Edit: Having finished watching season 3, the pacing at the end feels off. The Scorpius Rexes get taken care of perfunctorily and then suddenly the last two episodes are about Wu coming back to the island to get his shit and the kids have to thwart him. Darius wanting to take care of the Scorpius made sense when he thought Ben was staying on the island because leaving Ben with some self-reproducing super predators is slightly stupider than leaving him on a hell dinosaur island in the first place. But then Wu's incompetent mercenaries come, split the kids, and then all immediately die except for the group with Wu and everything becomes high spirited hijinxes to try to keep Wu from getting his data. Maybe if the Scorpius stuff kept going until the last episode it'd feel more natural. And it seems they wanted to have a Thing with Wu's relationship to his research and the dinosaurs that spawn from it. Having him around during the Scorpius' rampage would allow that to be explored more.

[up] As to whether it matters to turn in Wu or not? Not much in the long run but apparently Wu was stripped of his doctorate between Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom and it could be because his culpability was leaked. Doesn't really affect him much as he still gets mad scientist work but people call him Mr. Wu instead.

Have we got any word on further series/episode orders? By my maths we've now had 26 episodes over three seasons and narratively reached an "ending" of sorts inasmuch as they are off the island.

On an unrelated note, I actually really like how the Scorpius Rexes really invoke the Uncanny Valley - like an actual failed experiment compared to later versions.

The closest thing to an update is this set of tweets from story editor Josie Campbell. She said how season 3 was her last season on the show and that the show is in good hands.

I brought up this promotional image (don't know where THAT originally came from) mentioning the show is likely 49 episodes total. I highly doubt season 3 is it for the show, though.

A new island... Sorna? Or a NEW new island? Kinda interesting if it actually is Sorna and everyones favourite Rex-killing Crocoduck returns...

That spino is dead tho.

Could be Sorna, could be Site C (which would still be on the Five Deaths chain if the Evolution game is taken into consideration).

If the compass theory is true, I guess they could make it to the Five Deaths. Unless they are changing the assumed locations of the islands.

Could be some other place where dinos are being kept illegally and tie to the lose Mantah Corp thread.

But it's probably Sorna.

Not really happy with it (mostly because it's gonna be convoluted to get there no matter what they do), but it gives a chance to explore the place beyond what little FK says.

And it will keep the older fans happy I guess.

What’s site C about?

Site C was a concept that Universal worked with in the lead up to JP 3.

The third movie was supposed to take place there and promotional material of the time had the label show up here and there.

When the scripts got reworked for the umpteenth time and became JP 3 the concept was dropped.

It was finally used in the Jurassic World Evolution park builder, where it is revealed to be Isla Matanceros (it's either the first or the fifth island in the Five Death chain, it's been a while since I've looked at the maps).

Have not played the game, only seen gameplay videos on Youtube, but from what I gathered it was a secret facility where Wu actually bred his viable hybrids in preparation for Indominus. Three hybrid were created in the game, Spinoraptor, Ankylodocus and Stegoceratops.

EDIT: Was checking some videos on Youtube, Site C was Isla Muerta, not Matanceros. It's the second biggest island on the chain, sits right above Sorna.
