Ahh, the classic subtle style changes to make a character immediately more menacing. Delicious.
So would he count as Affably Evil or Faux Affably Evil?
Probably the latter, but I feel we need to know a bit more about his motivations to make sure.
Motive Rant incoming. Also over-sized doggos playing catch.
Let's see it, then.
My theory so far is that Void Magic might be unaffected by Snek Jolon taunting Erin and hurting his friends might be a catalyst for him to take Walters challenge up.
"You can reply to this Message!"Seems a little early for that. We've only just introduced the possibility during the previous story arc. That's the kind of thing you pull out after you can reasonably assume most sane readers had forgotten about it.
Also, such a scenario would end in two ways: "Walter" taking control of Erin, which we just did. Or Erin taking some control over Walter, which is also unlikely because Erin already has borderline Story Breaking Power, which is why he's conveniently Deus Exit Machina for this encounter.
Not saying it doesn't make sense, just saying it would be a bit of a waste to pull now.
Option C is Walter giving Erin a bit of Void power to use, Kyuubi style. Maybe just to fix him on.
"You can reply to this Message!"Hmmm, if that's what we're going for, I expect more of a Naruto-style kinda deal. "Look, we're not friends. I'm totally going to consume your soul and destroy the world as soon as I have the chance. But for that, I need you to stay alive, so how about you take some of my power and we'll put a pin in the other stuff?"
I suppose Red did do a Trope Talk on Superpowered Evil Side recently, and this would be a good way to introduce that particular trope. Still think it would overload Erin's character a little when it comes to power.
So we got a straight Mad Scientist, eh? I was expecting a little bit more complexity there, but I suppose it's not Jolon's story.
Can't decide if it's endearing or disturbing that he apparently names his monsters.
And this was linked in the comments
Maybe he just wants to be taller. Like, 5 cm. Not so big that people notice, but make people wonder if he's still growing.
"You can reply to this Message!"*Meanwhile in the other universe, both Bulma and Freeza sneezes at the same time*
I assure you, I'm a completely trustworthy person.Nooooooo, not the kawaiii snek!
Well, good thing I suppose. Walter was indeed firing up the BBQ. Which I think was a nice way to handle the conundrum we've discussed earlier. With that one panel, it's established that Walter can indeed break out when Erin is in great danger, but now is not Erin's story, so we're putting that plot point in the fridge for now with a last-minute save.
Love the callout against jokerism bullshit there.
well thats a good point to start a CMOH or CMOA page, but I have to be at work in 10 min.
"You can reply to this Message!"
Well, on hindsight it was pretty obvious, but still, I called it.
*EDIT* Oooh, pagetopper.
