Your personal cases of Viewer Gender Confusion

The first time I watched Detention as a kid, I thought Miss Kisskillya was male. Apparently the "Miss" part of her name didn't occur to my 6 year old brain.

Another one, when I first watched The Proud Family I thought Bebe was a girl. To be fair, he's an infant and has a name commonly used for girls (in the reboot it's revealed to be short for Benjamin)

Until she actually spoke, I thought War Pig from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was male at first. The fact that she has tusks like a boar was a major reason for that.

I thought Kurapika was a girl for quite a while.

I honestly thought Lee Kanker from Ed, Edd n Eddy was a Manly Gay boy who was In Touch with His Feminine Side, mainly due to her Tomboyish Voice.

Crispin. Grusha didn't catch me but Crispin did. Why doesn't Grusha have any League Club Room interactions with Crispin yet Game Freak acknowledged how much Rika and Grusha get paired together as a Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy duo?

I thought Magenta from Blue's Clues was a boy. I assumed since Blue was a girl that the show was doing a inverse of Pink Girl, Blue Boy so Magenta would be the boy.

Don't know why, but I thought Pepper Ann was a boy.

When my older brother showed me Finding Your Roots for the first time, I thought Briar was a dude.

When I was a kid, I thought Knuckles the Echidna was a girl (probably because of his long hair). Apparently, this is a rather common belief.

With Alphablocks, I thought R and S were boys and Y was a girl. It wasn't until I was an adult that I found out it was the other way around.

I didn't know if Allen and Kairi from Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha were men or women when I was a kid. Don't ask how I wasn't able to tell they were men.

Like many others, I actually thought Baby Butter Otter was a boy until I actually started watching the show for myself, and that's how I found out she's actually a girl. Now I'm one to correct people when they misgender Butter.

x8 Same here. I assumed Crispin was female until I read his Bulbapedia article.

I know I also mistook Bugsy, Keith, Roark, and Ilima for girls.

Surprisingly, I did not mistake N or Grusha for women.

Tiramie from Amagi Brilliant Park. I don't know if I was more surprised to find out he was a dog or male.

It took me just under a week to realise that Luin from WACCA is a boy. I thought that him using the personal pronoun "boku" was a Bokukko case of the "obscuring a character's gender" variety, and that he was therefore potentially non-binary...

Vi from Bug Fables. Didn't know that she was a girl until Kabbu called Vi a "she" (In the first chapter)

I wasn't sure what The Collector's gender was at first, due to seeing them referred to as both "he" and "they" frequently and having a fairly gender-neutral appearance and voice — according to Word of God, The Collector goes by he/they.

Just recently I thought Mickbell from Delicious in Dungeon was a girl.

When I first played Sword, I thought Bede was a girl. Then, after the third gym iirc, Hop referred to Bede as a guy, and I realized my mistake. You know, I'd like to see a mean female rival someday. All the mean rivals I can think of are guys.

Also, when I watched Nurse Angel Ririka SOS for the first time, I was a bit confused as to Dewey's gender. Yes, he had a masculine name, but that wasn't revealed until the episode after he first appeared, and idk, I thought maybe he was a tomboyish girl or even non-binary.
