Jason O'Mara (Batman) is Zeus.
Inb4 if the son's name is "Hera", then he's DEFINITELY going to be Heracles, right?
Oy, hope the internet doesn't go crazy because they think everyone on the show is saying "Hercules" wrong...
I hear "Heron" myself.
I am pretty sure that, yes, it's Herakles, and they're going to go with the Greek rather the Roman name version this time.
Well the main villain (or one of them along with the giant dude) seems to be hera so it would fit pretty well.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Ah good old Zeus, spreading his seed across the lands to any attractive women he sees.
What a stand-up guy.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."But this looks pretty good, so far at least. I hope it has the sort of fight scenes that Powerhouse has become known for with Castlevania and Seis Manos.
So since their using the giants and using theGigantomachy . We should be getting Porphyrion (Zeus's counterpart) as main villain.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you.">Named Hera >Fighting the Giants
Yup, it's Heracles. Finally something about him that isn't the labours, and the Gigantomachy too, that's one of the less explored myths.
I'm glad there's more Western creators going against all adult animation is South Park. That said, if IMDB is anything to go by, the people who are working on this are also responsible for Netflix's Death Note so I'm not expecting much.

Which people are you talking about exactly?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."IMDB says Charley Parlapanides and Vlas Parlapanides are the creators. Both of them were writers for Death Note.
I wish I had more optimism but its best I keep my expectations low.
The movie was a mess in its near entirety.
Eh I’ve seen writers put out good material even if their last work wasn’t very good.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Regarding the character's name, I do think that I heard it as "Heron", too.
As the trailer, I'm not yet sure of how I feel about it, but the action-sequences looked pretty good, the visuals look interesting, and the giants seem neat, at least.

My Games & WritingOooooh this loooks fun. Must watch for me.
Really we need more Sword And Sandal stuff. There's a lot of things you could do with that genre that aren't really explored.
Protagonist's name is Heron, and he's the son of Zeus, not Heracles.
Also, Elias Toufexis (Deus Ex) is in this! He's playing a character named Seraphim.
Okay, so his name is Heron. Makes sense.
But we've been saying he's the son of Zeus. I speculated that because Heron is the son of Zeus, it's going to be revealed that Heron is actually Heracles.
That's my thought too.
After Seis Manos unceremoniously came and went (and no season 2 appears forthcoming), and this show seems to have a pretty low amount of hype surrounding it, I’ve been wondering aloud what the issue is with a lot of Western attempts at adult action. Netflix, when one sees their top viewed shows, has a fairly decent amount of adult action shows near the top. All of which, besides Castlevania are Japanese (Seven Deadly Sins, Baki, Kengan Ashura, Beastars, and Ultraman among others). Is there something where the audience inherently distrusts Western action cartoons unless attached to a franchise? Or is it a more specific rejection based on art style? Manos and Zeus don’t have the “anime” art style even though Netflix advertises them as such, while Castlevania uses a simplified version of the Ayami Kojima artwork the series was famous for.
Just something I’ve been thinking about given Powerhouse’s attempts to expand beyond licensed faire. Their licensed faire being successful does say good things for Masters of the Universe Revelation at least.

Initial reviews are coming in and they are positive.

My question about how the West views these shows still stands though.
In terms of Netflix specifically, they have a serious and ridiculous content bloat problem. A ton of their original productions get buried because they release so much stuff that it's literally impossible to keep up with it. They released nearly 3,000 hours of original content in 2019 and they're gonna top that this year. They bury most of their own productions by sheer accident though pure volume.
Netflix actually pushed Castlevania super hard and it had the advantage of being attached to a known and well-loved property which meant that a lot of the advertising was just people who liked the Castlevania games. It did not push Seis Manos anywhere near as hard and there was no built in pre-existing audience, so it sank under the endless torrent of Netflix content.
Not Three Laws compliant. The fate of Seis Manos is especially sad because it was Powerhouse's first original production and they had plans for at least two more seasons.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).Fucking Hell Netflix dial down the content.
More is not better.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
Powerhouse Animation just released its new trailer for Blood of Zeus, its latest "Not anime but Netflix will call it such" about a son of Zeus battling demons and Hera.
Show releases October 27th.
