Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

Given that the solution to everything is shooting it, it begs the questions, wouldn't the actual military be better for this? They have a lot more guns, and a lot more people to fire those guns.

Because, yeah, the Suicide Squad don't really do anything a spec ops unit or something wouldn't be able to do.

This will be the hill I die on: This game really, really, really, *REALLY* should not have been a looter shooter and it could've worked if it was a single-player plot-driven romp with characters that played differently and didn't all use goddamn guns.

Like, guns work for Deadshot, but not the others.

Here's how it should've gone:

• Deadshot: Guns, RE4-style.
• Boomerang: Boomerangs and traps. (And bombs? Maybe knives? Or would those work for Deadshot? Or Harley?)
• Harley: Souls-lite; give her a javelin and acrobatics (shameless cribbing from Gunn's SS, GO!), make her quick and good at dodging, but weak in terms of raw power. Have mid-bosses that could kill her in 2-3 hits, but have weak points that Harley can exploit with aforementioned speed and acrobatics. (And have anyone but Tara Strong voicing her. Like Hynden Walch.)
• King Shark: Punch stuff, rip stuff, tear stuff, bite stuff, repeat. And repeat. And repeat.
• Morality system: Do you obey Waller's orders like soldiers or do you ghost her at the earliest chance you get? Do you actively kill the League or just neutralize them out of the faint hope that they can be saved?
  • Alternate endings: Killing the JL makes the Squad become heroes to the public, but Nightwing is like "over my dead body." ENTER THE TITANS.
  • Saving the League
• PEACE. MAKER. MAKE HIM PLAYABLE.

Hire me, WB Games and Rocksteady.

Deadshot needs some kind of trick shot mechanic, really. Even that would make him stand out with the guns. Or else why include one of DC's sharpshooters?

Give Harley Arkham style gameplay.

Making it more of a squad shooter would have been better cause at least characters would have more defined roles and abilities.

Deadshot is the sniper, King Shark the brawler, Harley is the scout, and Boomerang has nifty gadgets. There everyone has distinct roles and they can work on how different they are from there.

Which I'm convinced they didn't because they didn't have enough resources to make all the characters distinct, so the looter shooter was partly out of cutting costs.

I'm still amused by how WBD and Rocksteady managed to fuck up a live-service superhero ip game worse than Marvel and Squeenix did.

Marvel's Avengers was simply boring at its core. Kill the Justice League, on the other hand, seems designed to be spiteful and hateful of the legacy it got forced onto.

Marvel's Avengers was at least limited to its own little verse as opposed to messing around with the MCU or something.

I'll give the game this: After playing Arkham Knight, it seems like the car segments aren't crammed into any mission it can find an excuse for. It shows restraint in bringing out the cars, unlike with the Batmobile in Knight.

At least the Arkham Batmobile sections are fun.

Fuck it, you know what would have helped make this game better? Polka-Dot Man. I deadass think he'd have helped out at this rate. If you had to loot shoot, at least make it fucking original.

I say this, whilst thankful to end that Polka-Dot Man's name wasn't tarnished by this game… which I never thought I'd say in earnest sincerity, but here we are.

You know reading this i think it could have been a 3-way thing, Kinda like Shadow the Hedgehog (yes, i'm using that game as a example, of all things, At least it's edgyness was funny) Where you could listen to Sonic &co, listen to Black Doom, or screw it and do your thing.
Here you could follow Waller's order to a T and be nominal good guys, try to double-cross her without getting blown up and be assholes only out for themselves, fighting brainiac in a Evil vs. Evil battle, or try to be actually (anti)heroic, not kill the league and not be too much of a ass.
With of course, some wiggle room between the different ends of the spectrum.
Part of the appeal of the squad is that they can pick obscure or weird characters and see which ones stick, So someone like polka-dot man would be cool in a squad game. If it was a good one.

If Polka-Dot Man was in a better Suicide Squad game, I could see him having dots that act like gadgets in the Arkham games. One that acts like the disruptor, one that shocks people like the REC, one that freezes people in place like the freeze blast, one that acts like a smoke bomb, and one that acts as both a mine and can break walls like the explosive gel.

So why was Riddler included if they were going to do nothing with him? At least in Origins, it was setting up what Riddler's M.O. was going to be and in Asylum he got arrested. Here, once you beat all his riddles and challenges, he just goes "Ta-ta for now!" and that's the end of it.

Why that’s simple: They wanted a Joker story and after making one with grind and duct tape, no one knew what to do with Riddler or Penguin so they just had them vanish from existence after their parts were done.

I'm surprised the Squad didn't even kill Riddler this time. Like, really sell that that they mean business by killing the major annoyance of the last series.

We're now in a timeline where Riddler has outlived Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and the bat family.

He's won.

Reminds me of Deep Rock Galactic. And makes me wish the Squid Squad is about invading a planet of alien bugs and retrieving something very important for Waller... while having an excuse to go full-out Starship Trooper on the bugs.

I remember watching a long review of the game, and the guy reviewing it reasoned why they brought Riddler back was so that they could insert more Riddler challenges into each new season.

And because of their hack writing, the Riddler got the last laugh.

All those riddler trophies.

The whole Hall of Justice tour at the start of the game makes me sad cause of how well-written and respectful it is, and that they're all friends. I'd love to see a full Justice League game like that—we've had a few before but nothing really big besides the LEGO games.

The Protomen enhanced my life.

It's like the Museum scene from The Last Of Us 2; One really nice scene featuring the characters we grew to care about in a game that tries to make you hate them as much as possible.

Speaking of Lego, You want KTJL done right? Play Lego DC Supervillains. It features all the members of the Suicide Squad in this game (Except for King Shark I think) who all have unique moves, no grindy battle passes, Boss Battles that aren't copied and pasted, and you fight a version of the Justice League that you DO want to kick the asses of, the Crime Syndicate.

It also has Mark Hamill, Kevin Conroy, Tara Strong, and Clancy Brown reprising their roles.

Also a custom villain maker. I def recommend DC Supervillains. It does what Suicide Squad does but better. I bought it day one, it's like a game made specifically for me.
