What's your opinion on the Martha Speaks example?
For every low there is a high.I feel the bolded parts in the example you brought up can be cut.
Reposting.
Just curious, does the part in bold in this entry from YMMV.Resident Evil 2022 count as speculative troping?
Cut. Regardless of speculation, it isn't necessary for the example, which could use some shortening.
I'm back!From Literature.The Hunger Games:
- Accidental Murder: Peeta accidentally kills Foxface with poison berries. Unless you believe the theory that she knew what she was doing all along.
- Accidental Suicide: Foxface spent all of the games hiding from the other tributes, stealing their supplies, and playing smart in order to survive. This came back to bite her in the butt when she steals food from Katniss and Peeta that turns out to be poisonous berries, resulting in her death. Unless you believe the theory that she knew what she was doing all along..
I don't remember, is said theory ever brought up in the books, or is it fan speculation? Pinging ~Lupine Moon , who added those lines.
Yeah, it's a fan theory.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessFrom what I remember, there's no reason to suspect it was deliberate.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool. Here's an odd one...
The Progeny is a lost play written in the 5th century BCE - only three lines of dialogue remain.
Our page about it is based on other versions of the tale (Seven Against Thebes) and things like Foregone Conclusion and Spin-Offspring, describing the premise. Everything else is speculating about the context of the snippet that remains.
Cut?
From Funny.Chikn Nuggit:
- This short, where Milkshek approaches Slushi and asks if she's a bad person for liking a certain show called "But You're a Cannibal," a made-up show that seems like the world's equivalent of Hazbin Hotel or Helluva Boss. Slushi's response is very matter-of-fact, and is also humorously directed toward anyone watching who gives fans of shows like them a hard time.
Slushi: (quickly) Are you endorsing or imitating the villainous character's actions?
Milkshek: No?
Slushi: Then no.
(Beat)
Slushi: (while looking directly at the camera) No.
If it only "seems" like the equivalent of the two works, how can we be sure that the short is a direct allegory? I interpreted it as a parody of Hate Dumb around works with a Villain Protagonist. Am I overthinking this?

"As long as I have my comrades with me, I can do anything!" (She/Her) (Current Focus: Indentation cleanup)It sounds like a generic parody, like you said. I don't know much about the hazbin series, but since the fictional show doesn't mention Hell or anything, it's Fan Myopia.
Found on Non Conformist Dyed Hair:
- Ready Jet Go!: Implied to be the reason for the blonde streaks in Auntie Eggplant's hair. None of the other Bortronians have that in their hair, and Eggplant has been shown to surprisingly cunning. This means it could very well be a rebellious fashion statement.
This looks like theorizing or shoehorning.
Found on Trivia.Rejected as one of two Follow the Leader examples (emphasis mine):
- ASDF Movie would go on to use a similar minimalistic style, random and crass humor, and rapid fire segments like in this film. One has to wonder whether they either were inspired by, or outright copied this films format due to them being so similar.
I don't recall anything outright confirming that Rejected influenced asdfmovie in any way, so should this just get cut for speculation? "As long as I have my comrades with me, I can do anything!" (She/Her) (Current Focus: Indentation cleanup)
I think it's best to cut that part, yeah.
Alright, I cut the section and cited this thread.
