I’m not sure if that’s what Memetic Badass is supposed to be used for. Celestia is a badass when it’s called for it, but can you even exaggerate someone that’s already a badass?
Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread!I looked over MemeticLoser.Death Battle, and it seems agreed the whole page is misuse, describing objective losses and analytically determined inferiority as opposed to exaggeration. Goku and the Power Rangers are the only possibly salvageable examples but it probably best we cut it all to start over. Thoughts?
I have my doubts on most YMMV tropes related to Death Battle but that whole page really should be cut because all it really says is that someone lost for every example
I noticed that the page image for MemeticBadass.Video Games is Saxton Hale, who is objectively a badass. I don’t think there’s any exaggeration with how badass he is, unless I’m forgetting something. (In that case, it dosen’t show how he is a MemeticBadass)

Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread!Btw, do you guys think this thread should work more like the Appearance Cleanup Thread that we focus on one entry at a time?
Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread!I'd like to add that I still support cutting MemeticLoser.Death Battle as says.
- Yuri Lowell. How Badass is this man? He has fourteen Badass tropes on his character page. Surely that lets him qualify.
So... he’s objectively a badass then. Badass as they say even since they had to mention how many Badass tropes he has on his page.
I should also say that Memetic Badass is prone to natter... just a good chunk of the entries on there... dear god.

Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread! That alone is a ZCE. An example is supposed to stand on its own, what's on his character page is irrelevant.
That one could use some help from the badass cleanup thread, based on the other cases of misuse I’ve seen around.
SoundCloudI thought the Memetic X tropes were purely about the exaggeration by fans, so I'm not sure if "a character is objectively a badass" is enough of a reason to cut, as that still very much leaves open the possibility of exaggeration.
But the example as written is purely about objective badassery, hence not an example.
Question, why does MemeticBadass.TV Tropes exist?
Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread!Because the badassery of these characters is indeed exaggerated on TVT? For example, Fast Eddie is a normal admin but is turned into some badass overlord, like by having infinite points at Made of Win (at least, back when he was the admin)? We'd definitely need more context for examples and check which ones fit, though.

Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)But they’re mostly not characters. They’re people.
And the ones that are characters should be in their respective series’s pages, if they’re valid.

Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread! Here are all the Sonic examples.
- The Tails Doll of Sonic R infamy was an innocuous, debatably unsettling bonus character. From there, it escalated to a Bloody Mary-like figure.
- Does Shadow count? He even had his own presidential campaign website back in 2008. (Quaker and Bowen hosted it, and have since taken it down, although the link remains on the Tails Doll site.)
- Sonic himself certainly has quite a bit of fan exaggeration at how fast he can go. Then again...
- His status as a badass is no exaggeration. In the span of 20 years, he's taken down countless robotic armies, government military forces, an evil genie, an evil version of King Arthur, extra terrestrial Eldritch Abominations, extra dimensional Eldritch Abominations, living weapons of mass destruction, dimension-traveling antagonists, the Polygon Ceiling, and Physical Gods. One of which, the God of Destruction, he took out WITHOUT his super mode. To many protagonists, this would be a lifetime adventure. To Sonic, this is just another day for him.
- The ultimate proof of Sonic's badassery: If Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) couldn't stop him, what chance does anything else have?
- Super Sonic can only be played with a console that has Blast Processing. Using him on anything else will cause it to crash because it cannot process that much awesomeness.
- To Say nothing of Dr. Robotnik/Eggman. Oh, you destroyed his doom ship? He has another one as back-up. Planning to pull one over him with a fake Mineral MacGuffin? He'll trap you in a capsule rigged with explosives, because you told him. Going Super Mode to stop his latest ploy? He already set a trap just to take the Chaos Emeralds from you, turn you into a furry Werehog, and then send you plummeting into the Earth's atmosphere. No matter what your counter-plan is, he's always two steps ahead of you. Defeating him? All part of his plan. All Of It.
- Even moreso once Sonic Colors (and to a lesser extent Sonic Unleashed) finally stopped his Villain Decay to that point that he teams up with an alternate version of himself in Sonic Generations to take control of an Eldritch Abomination and fuck with the space-time continuum...and manages to stay in control of it the entire time.
- And in Sonic Lost World, he still remains badass after yet again having his Big Bad status usurped only to come from behind and take it back at the very end of the game.
- Knuckles' Boom self has started to become one due to the extreme amount of glitches that he enables in Rise of Lyric, even after the game was patched.
- Cream, Game-Breaker extraordinaire in nearly every game where she's playable. She runs like Sonic, she can fly while carrying a 600-pound cat, and she and her pet critter can ruin everyone that gets in her way. And she's only six. Players like to believe that she was omitted from Sonic Forces because she would've defeated Infinite in seconds, and then we wouldn't have a game.
Tails Doll - valid
Shadow - I have no idea what it’s talking about
Sonic - These are all moments of objective badassery. Not to mention the natter.
Eggman - It’s right for the wrong reasons. Like with Sonic, it’s describing objective badassery and has natter. But I do think he fits because of what he does without his robots, (mainly how fast he runs in some games) and fans just run with that shit.
Knuckles - valid
Cream - valid

Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread! The Shadow example can be killed for violating Examples Are Not Arguable. The Super Sonic line can also be killed because it's not true; you can go super in normal gameplay in both Sonic Colors (on the Wii) and Sonic Generations (on the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3). Agreed on the general assessment of Sonic and Eggman; why doesn't it talk about how, in both Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles, he can outrun Sonic on foot?
Edited by Serac on Mar 16th 2020 at 1:08:22 PM
I don’t think Examples Are Not Arguable is meant to apply to YMMV items like these ones. Though, the example in question is terribly written.
Edited by ShinyCottonCandy on Mar 16th 2020 at 2:33:23 PM
SoundCloudThe issue is that YMMV isn't there to pick sides or say that fans "might" feel a certain way; it's for recording opinions that verifiably exist. So those words shouldn't be there anyway, and if it's only a "well they might think this" case, it's probably not something people actually think.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessWell, either way, I’ve never seen Shadow’s capabilities exaggerated except mockingly, so I say remove his entry anyway.
SoundCloudFound this on YMMV.Up under Memetic Mutation, but the meme didn't originate with this movie:
- The "Still a better love story than Twilight." meme. The first ten minutes of the film showing Carl & Ellie's love story from their Meet Cute to Ellie's death are often regarded as a far more compelling love story than the entire Twilight series.
The meme didn't originate from Up and seems like an attempt to sneak in a potshot. Cut.
YMMV.Animal Crossing New Horizons
- Memetic Troll: Zipper T. Bunny has infamously gained this reputation due to the Bunny day event taking up over a third of the entire month of April, disrupting players that want to grind money from fishing, chopping wood for items and hitting rocks for Iron and Gold Nuggets and making the game almost completely unenjoyable.
Does this seem kind of complainy? Especially the end there.
Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread!”Making the game almost completely unenjoyable.” I can’t imagine the event could be that bad, at least for Animal Crossing fans. I’d at least remove that part.
SoundCloudI mean, it doesn't even explain how the character is portrayed as a troll; it reads more like a Scrappy entry.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure Pureness
Question about the following Memetic Loser that was cut for not explaining the exaggeration.
I wonder if she’s a better fit Memetic Badass, given fans run with and exaggerate her Physical Goddess powers the show is inconstant about portraying, hence the above backlash for the show not living up their exaggerated expectations.
