From this article:
Yeah, I've been wondering that too. Somewhere after Tokyo Drift, technology seems to be getting increasingly futuristic in this universe.
Optimism is a duty.I feel like 7’s the culprit with the God’s Eye tech and whatnot.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy. You have to admit, as dumb as all of this seems, it's really gotten to be just purely entertaining. I mean the cinematography, special effects, and superhero punches just make you smile. This is when you push a work into absurdity and just run with it.
And that's hilarious.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).It is indeed rather dumb at times, but also very entertaining.
Calling it now, they are going to race each other on re-entry.
It's interesting that various sources call Brian the main character of the series, when I get that feeling much more from Dom. We know a lot more about Dom and his family/friends than about Brian, for one.
Optimism is a duty.I am like half-expecting Nick Fury to show up and recruit Dom and co to the Avengers one of these days.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."F9 scores $70 million domestic opening weekend, biggest post-pandemic haul. (Problem is, it should've grossed far, far more than that. Like $100 million+.)
Meanwhile, Vin Diesel is praising Universal's decision to go theatrical-only, conveniently ignoring the fact that Peacock subscription numbers (which are the only numbers Comcast investors currently care about) are so piss-poor that they had no other recourse beyond selling it to another streamer, which they would never do for one of their marquee franchises.
"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherThat's actually the highest debut in the pandemic and actually decent.
I think next week will be whether it says or crashes.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Stephen Colbert interviews the F9 cast:
I'd compare Diesel's performance in these movies to Leslie Nielsen in the ZAZ movies. The more serious you make yourself in a ridiculous situation, the funnier your performance is. Regardless of intention, it's what makes these movies what they are.
F9 grossed $8 million in US on Friday, and projections now suggest it will gross $23 million this weekend, a 67% drop.
Law of diminishing returns seems to be finally catching up to F&F.

"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherI think you mixed up some numbers there.
Optimism is a duty.F9 collected $23.8 million on its second 3-day weekend, a 66% drop from last week.
By comparison, Fate grossed $38.4 million on its second weekend, a 61% drop.
"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherFinally saw it. It was good. I had to gripe with my friends thought because we were going to see Black Widow and saw Fast 9 instead.
Dom catching the car was actually some mook who had a bald head like Dom's getting flattened by said car.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Wrong thread.

Optimism is a duty. What does this have to do with F9?
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Me misreading the title, that's what.
Optimism is a duty. This question was inspired by a joke from the recent episode of History of Power Rangers.
Which vehicle-themed Power Rangers season would Dom and the gang be most at home in?
They'd definitely love themselves some Megazord. They'd promptly use it to rob Fort Knox or something.
Yes, Megazords. That's the new space for this franchise.
Optimism is a duty.Combining car mecha does seem to be the best way to go after space.
I never posted this here, but I saw this and Black Widow the same weekend, and this was exponentially dumber but a more fun cinematic experience.
The Turbo stuff (on either side of the Ocean) might fit them, really.
Wake me up at your own risk.I second the Turbo ones. Especially the space travel at the end.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.Could've sworn we had a general Fast & Furious thread, but whatever.
If anyone's hoping for Dwayne Johnson to show up in FF10, get ready to pump the brakes, because The Rock says it ain't happening.
Put simply, The Rock and Vin have some massively bad blood between each other. (Actually a lot of folks have it out for Vin. OOF.)
A real bummer, because as someone who hardly watched the F&F saga, I thought The Rock was awesome in Hobbs & Shaw. But hey, bad blood is bad blood, so I'm just gonna have to suck it up.

I swear Diesel's our generation's Stallone. Both are capable of good performances but would rather indulge in their massive egos and franchises, not knowing they're the butt of so many jokes.
It doesn't say in the article.
Well, I've sped through all 8 movies now, so I'm fully up to date on the lore. That series sure took a turn after Tokyo Drift.
What, a previously never mentioned younger brother? With a personal vendetta? This street race/heist movie combo is starting to cross with soaps too now, the way surprise babies, previously dead girlfriends, and lost brothers are turning up left and right lately. All we need is someone in a coma - oh wait.
As for Han surviving that explosion, well, so did Letty. I won't be surprised if they bring back Elena for 12, somehow.
