Pretty Boy is found in 1848 articles while Bishōnen is found in 6699 articles. Many of the latter are misuse—Bishōnen is only for Eastern examples. American, Canadian, British, etc media can't be listed under it, even if they're animesque. That's Pretty Boy.

Is there a difference between the tropes except for Eastern/Western? The trope pages appear to imply there isn't.

This might be due for TRS.

[up]The same reason why we distinguish between Western Animation/ and (Eastern) Animation/ namespaces, I suppose.

You can bring it up in TRS, I suppose. But since this isn't exactly a misused term, the only feasible action to take would be merge the two tropes, or turn one into a definition-only Fan Speak page and move all other examples to the other. Which I'm pretty certain won't be OK'd

Back in the day, there were huge controversies about anime-titled tropes such as Bishōnen. Problems were anime titles that don't mean anything outside of anime and the question of whether the tropes are really distinct.

I don't think a TRS would make sense unless you can find some tropers with expertise on both Pretty Boy (in western media) and Bishōnen (in Japanese media).

It's already been brought up in TRS before. Pretty Boy and Bishōnen were considered culturally distinct.
