Hey there! I used Fusion 360 quite a few times in college, but my work right now doesn't really involve CAD, so I don't really have anything to show at the moment. I mostly stick with 2D software for my art hobby nowadays, but there's a recent design competition where I wish I'd done my entry in 3D instead. Ugh.
The last project I did was a set of custom knitting needles I printed out and painted for my girlfriend's birthday a couple of years back - I put the STL files on an external drive that borked out and we lost the actual needles while moving to the new flat, so again, nothing to show here, unfortunately.
Echoing hymn of my fellow passerine | Art blog (under construction)So, the final course I require for my AutoCAD certificate were not supposed to be offered this term, meaning I would possibly have to wait another 3 months to graduate. Now it is offered, but I still haven't physically been able to register for the course yet, due to the system denying me access to the registration for the course.
It's a pain in the ass, I tell you.

Feels good, don't it?So, to cope with my lack of a course, I have been working on my portfolio. The following drawings are supposed to represent plans for a Concept Drawing of a Synagogue in New York City.
I was aiming for something that was Neo-Art Deco.
Feels good, don't it?
I just finished drawing a family of bookcases in AutoDesk Revit.
They didn't end up having backs for some reason.
Feels good, don't it?Well, I hope the deisgn's sturdy enough to not wobble despite that.
Avatar SourceThe rest of it worked out fine. Truthfully, I don't remember if they were supposed to have backs or not for my assignment.
Edit: They were. I think I will need to revisit this outside of class.

Feels good, don't it?Allow me to present a trifecta of my latest renderings from Revit.

Edit: I have finished my term, by the way, and am building my portfolio. There is a certain school assignment I'd like to revisit on account of fixing its execution, though.

Feels good, don't it?I just remodeled the motel rooms:
Edit: This will forever a work in progress until I can have someone verify the spatial limitations for me, and adjust them accordingly.

Feels good, don't it?I recently drafted a house layout using dimensions from the internet. See below:
I'll level, the car, shutters and drainpipe were downloaded from online, the latter two with slight modifications. Other than that, I just used the drawing board, plus Revit's stock components.

Feels good, don't it?Heh. I said level.
In all seriousness, I think I am starting to hit my stride.
Are you into 3d modelling? Also, there is a saying: if you build it, they will come.

Feels good, don't it?Well this a topic I did not expect to see in On Topic..

Nope!

New theme music also a boxAt the moment, it seems like ~eagleoftheninth and I are the only ones on this site with any 3D modelling or drafting experience.
I created this topic because I expected not to be the only one with such interests on this site.
Hey eagle, would you ever consider designing an engagement ring for your significant other? I designed the menorah with the intention of eventually getting a custom one of my own when I could afford it.
Sorry, didn't mean to overstep any boundaries. I meant it as a hypothetical.

Feels good, don't it?Not really? I mean, no offence, but that's honestly kind of a weird thing to ask someone. *shrugs*
My line of work right now involves dielectric thin films, so technically there's 3D printing involved, but it's a very different thing from the aesthetically-oriented macro CAD that this thread is about. I mainly stick to 2D illustration for my own art projects nowadays; I guess I could try going back to 3D to illustrate my worldbuilding WIP (dabbled a bit in Blender back in high school), but I simply don't feel like it at the moment.
One of my friends is doing a custom Funko Pop as a quarantine project, so... there's that, I guess?
Echoing hymn of my fellow passerine | Art blog (under construction)I've messed about a little in Blender because I was trying to do more in Second Life than scam and yiff, but the interface of head-butting frustration quickly killed my interest in 3D modelling from the ground up.
I decided to move some furniture in the house I drafted. I will post pictures once the renderings are complete.

Feels good, don't it?Just posted the renderings of my Project on my instagram.

Feels good, don't it?I have finally recieved my AutoCAD certificate, and I am working on a portfolio.
Feels good, don't it?Congrats!
I recently rendered an apartment for a guy in Kuwait in a Freelancer contest with a $200 USD Prize. Among the specifications, he wanted a breakfast counter 25cm x 85cm, but when I worked out the measurements, they turned out to be too small to be usable, as pointed out by someone in my family who looked at the drawing.
So I asked a former tenant of my parents (she is from Kuwait, originally) if the dimensions given are usable for a kitchen island.
She contacts her friend, the architect, and she (the architect) says 60 cm is the minimum depth for a counter.
As a result, I decide to use more reasonable measurements for the counter, using standard counter measurements, and making it long enough to fit 4 stools, with room to spare.
When I submit the rendering, I explain (to paraphrase what I said) that I did everything else he asked, but that if I were to follow the counter's specifications, I would violate Kuwaiti Building Code.
Either because my rendering paled in comparison to those of the other designers (none of whom followed the specs from what I could see) or because I had the chutzpah to tell this guy that what he wanted was a building code violation, I didn't win the contest.
Still, it made for an interesting story.

Feels good, don't it?Because of COVID stifling (and still stifling) employment opportunities for me despite a master's degree in ME, I recently began redabbling into NX Unigraphics by Siemens. I plan to make a portfolio of various projects to hopefully a freelance designer, starting with my dad's dream house.
Got a ways to go though, but it's better than hoping and waiting.
A cruel, sick joke is still a joke, and sometimes all you can do is laugh.I just applied to George Brown College to continue my college education. I already have a CAD certificate, but I would like to boost my credentials.
Feels good, don't it?Here's an old 3DSMax model I made.
Unfortunately, the file was lost.
Remember the Kuwait thing?
I still have the images.

Feels good, don't it?I have an interview with a firm specializing in the development of foodservice establishments on Tuesday.

Sky here. As my forum title (The Draftsman of Doom) would indicate, I am studying 3D and 2D drafting courses in order to obtain an AutoCAD certificate. In this thread, we will be talking about our favorite projects we have created, as well as any issues we have encountered with drafting programs, and how the issues were solved.
Let me start by saying that I love playing with AutoCAD in both 2D and 3D, and that one of my favorite projects that I made in my free time is a hanukkiah with a star of David in the middle, a picture of which I will show everyone once this thread is actually open.
Edit: Well, now that the forum is unlocked:
