Aren't those more like synopses than proper recaps? It feels kinda pointless to have videos attached to pages that only serve to tell you the plot of something, as videos are meant to be treated like examples. If the page has no examples, there's not much need for videos. At least, that's how I feel.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure Pureness"Series" (Live/Animated) technically means Serial Show (IIRC), meaning each episode can be treated as a subwork (And in Tom And Jerry area were released separately). Chapters in a videogames are not separable, so I wouldn't count them as valid sources. If someone made a recap for like DLC, mmmaybe.

TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupNoting here I went through and moved/rejected the videos that were on Sarcasm Mode, since all were misuse of the concept and I want to start combating that issue.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessHey, ~Willbyr and I just had a PM discussion about a video I uploaded to Instant Drama, Just Add Tracheotomy for RFDS (2021). The video is six seconds over the official length limit and they're unsure whether to let it slide or if I should try to trim it down a little further..
EDIT: Sorry, it was War Jay 77. Apologies, I've had a little too much scotch XD

So, yeah. On the actual guidelines page it doesn't actually say if videos must be kept to 2:30 or if that's just the ideal limit. When I first started I allowed some wiggle room, but then people complained, so I'm genuinely unsure what the rule is meant to be.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessHmmmm... Administrivia.Video Guidelines does imply that there's some wiggle room with that limit, but Sandbox.Uploading New Videos makes it a hard limit. I would be inclined toward the former, but let me confer with the other mods since ~GastonRabbit has edited the sandbox.
I only edited the sandbox to change a wick for a renamed page and remove a wick for a page we got rid of, and I lack experience with video examples, so I'm the wrong person to ask.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. The actual creation of the sandbox isn't in the history, so I have no idea who added that rule.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessWhile I originally forgot about that sandbox, now that I think of it, that might have been discussed in the Outdated Administrivia Pages thread at some point.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. The page did come up there but I can't find where it was first brought up; all I saw was people discussing what to do with the sandbox.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessIf it's up to debade, examples over 30 seconds are already questionable if they are illustrative, so to me examples over 2:30 are the troper's problem for lacking focus.
As for the sandbox, the first section of it is mostly redundant with one on Administrivia/ and the policy is missing the second section.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI mean, obviously I like videos when they can be as short as can be. But sometimes videos just have to be that long for the sake of proper illustrativeness. And to be clear anything 2:40 or above has always been an insta-reject for me, but something that's only a few seconds longer? It doesn't feel like too big a deal, unless we want to enforce a strict limit. Like, what's 5-6 extra seconds?
Anyway, I'm less concerned about debating if it should be a rule than I am about deciphering if it's already one. Because I don't know if the vague wording on the policy page is correct or just bad wording.

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessWell, only one of these is an actual policy page. The other is a draft for a policy page.
I guess the question is, is the stuff on the draft the true representation of the rules, given that it had community input? I do know that multiple people pitched in but the history has mostly been lost. This may be a dumb question, but even Willbyr seems confused, lol.
The other question is if the vague wording on the guidelines page is implying what I believe it is, or if it's just accidentally creating leeway. It could honestly go either way depending on how strict you want to be.

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessOkay, so looking into the page history of Administrivia.Video Guidelines, the edit reason for its creation says:
And going into that thread, there was a vote for which of two sandboxes to make into a policy page. Video Guidelines won (Yeas:17 Nays:4) and Sandbox.Uploading New Videos lost (Yeas:6 Nays:10).
I remembered that TRS thread, but forgot about the exact history of it. So am I to assume that a 2:36 video is okay, then?
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI see Septimus mentioned asking whether the 2:30 limit was a hard one.
~Septimus Heap - do you remember getting a reply to that question?
Unfortunately I don't remember anything. It's probably something to ask the administrators and then put the answer on the policy page.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIf Sandbox.Uploading New Videos was shot down by TRS in favor of Administrivia.Video Guidelines, then maybe we can cut the former.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.I've asked the admins for their input.
The video "Dramatic pause" under Reading the Stage Directions Out Loud should have Derry Girls S1 E2 listed as its media source. How can that be editted?

You'd make a request in the Video moderation requests thread. (I just took care of it, though)
Any update on the time-limit stuff?
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessNo comment to date.
Question. Should Recap pages from Video Games be added as video sources like TV Shows are?
