I think the Frieza quote works, since it's him saying he has no redeeming features. The Fusion Zamasu one works for me, I personally think "declaration of omnicide" fits the absolute standard

"Look and see me, puny man. Look upon Barlow, who has passed the centuries as you have passed hours before a fireplace with a book. Look and see the great creature of the night whom you would slay with your miserable little stick. Look upon me, scribbler. I have written in human lives, and blood has been my ink. Look upon me and despair!"

-Kurt Barlow taunting Ben as he's prepared to stake him, 'Salem's Lot

This doesn't fit really any of our standards. It's more a villainous Badass Boast than anything

Hi, I am new to this thread and would like to participate. Does anyone mind if I take the Web Original folder?

[up] Well, I don't mind.

Also, I feel like the proposed standards (or at least how they're being interpreted) might be a bit too exacting.

Okay, here we go. To start off:

"I already have the data I needed after I adapted to the weapon's blast. However, I've also discovered that your magic gun is a source of tremendous power. If I harness that power, I could annihilate organic life in every universe, every parallel! Leaving only the machines."

- Mechakara, Atop the Fourth Wall

Not feeling it, doesn't seem to meet the "absolute" part of the criteria.

"Bobby Fields, you and your friends have terrorized the inner city since you turned nineteen. In the last five years, you and your so-called crew have mugged men, women, even one of the little old ladies from the retirement home. You've randomly forced your victims to 'pay a toll' in order to pass you and your friends without getting hurt. You've forced any 'stuck-up bitch' unlucky enough to cross your path to put out for you and your former 'crew', and then, either you kill them or blackmail them for it afterwards. You've murdered people. And obviously you and your pals seemed to enjoy beating homeless people to death for fun"

-Nazar, speaking to Bobby Fields, Beware the Good Samaritan Creepypasta

This one sounds good to me.

"Because I can. Because I will it. Because I hate. What sin is it to destroy those beneath me? What mistake is it to torture those who deserve what comes to them?"

-Lucia, The City of Never

The first three sentences make no sense without context, and the last two wouldn't work as a quote.

"Your sister held a great power within her, something I had never seen prior. It required the prolonged presence of agony within her to properly awaken it...and I can tell you that her screams were lovely sounds to my ears. I drew out her suffering. It was fun causing you and your family misery."

-Lucia, to Alessa Hopper, The City of Never

Better than the first one, but I still don't think it meets the "absolute" part of the criteria.

The problem was that aside from maybe Scraggle, there was never a definitive answer to what criteria we'd be using when determining quotes. It makes sense to have the quotes — suggested ones and reevaluations — on the same forum.

[up]The only problem with that is that I don't think that people propose quotes enough to warrant a long term project for them. Also I'm all for anyone proposing a new criteria or changes to criteria I posted, I'm using it now because I seems like a good standard and there aren't any other ideas so far.

Okay, here are some more quotes:

"I have no doubt in my mind that the Man in the Mask was somewhat mentally deranged, but he did hold one good position. I have spent my years researching and investigating the process in which monsters make their ways into human lives. It was my own doctoral thesis. But perhaps I had missed something. I had spent all this time proving that monsters could turn into men, perhaps I had overlooked how men could turn into monsters."

Dr. Michael Margin, after his encounter with the Man in the Mask. Dr Margin's Guide to New Monsters: The Man in the Mask

I don't think it meets the "absolute" part of the criteria.

"Nyarlathotep. My name shall be on all lips in the world. It will be the final, manic thought all that lives shall ever know. The cry of my name shall harken the end of sanity, the advent of madness. It will be a new age, Daemon, as everything you know shall end... And I will hear you scream my name into an uncaring void as all you love is taken from you, your mind flayed bare offered before my master's court. When the only ears that can hear to care about your pain are mine."

Nyarlathotep, Nights In Lonesome Arkham

Seems good to me.

Rich Jacobs was beyond reason or conscience. Essential elements that made up a human being had never been part of him.

Nights In Lonesome Arkham

No. It only says he has no redeeming qualities, ergo it fails the "absolute" part of the criteria.

"I'm going to walk past you now. I'm going to go into that house. I'm going to complete the Necronomicon, and than I'm going to rip that human's mind apart and take back what's mine now. When you see what happens next? Oh, I'm going to tear it all apart, upend this world, reap the souls of everyone you ever loved, everyone you ever helped, every single mortal who's ever met your eyes and smiled. Everyone who ever knew you will be my plaything for all time. I'm going to call Azathoth down on your reality and do a repeat performance of what I just showed you. Now, if you'll excuse me, there's an apocalypse I need to kick start. But don't worry. You're going to get an amazing front row seat to the festivities."

Nyarlathotep to Hardestadt Delac, Nights In Lonesome Arkham

Great. [tup]

"You are marked as mine, as so many others are. In Italy, a man is plying a woman with drink to lay with her, and that is mine. In a prison in Russia, a man is forced by another prisoner. I am there for both of them again. I am there for every ravishment. It is mine, as you are mine! I am The Defiler, rapist of billions! I have taken worlds entire unto myself, savaged them until they begged with one voice for more! I have devoured and devoured until nothing remained save my own carnality. Join the revels you are meant to!"

Y'golonac the Defiler, Only A Lonely Heart

This one is pretty good as well.

Felix: God, I just really want to savor this. You know, once the feds and rebels kill each other, I don't know what I'm gonna do. I mean, we've been playing these guys for years. How do you just walk away from something like that?

Tucker: What happened to retirement?

Felix: Oh, well, yeah I'll be filthy rich. But I'm still in my prime. There's so much more I could do.

Felix trying to kill Tucker, Red Vs Blue, Season 12, episode 18, "Fed vs. New"

Not feeling it.

Final Web Original batch:

"You still don't get it, do you? The entire reason you sim troopers were allowed to live this long? It's because you're all losers. Control was confident that you'd do more damage to these people than they could ever do to themselves... Locus and I figure we let you rack up the casualty count, then kill you after a few weeks. But then, you did something special. You gave these people hope. And with that, came a new level of motivation. To fight harder, to die faster. All with the belief that their sacrifice might actually mean something. But you know what, it all means nothing! At the end of the day, if I'm stronger than you, and if I'm faster than you, then I can kill you. And that's better than anything money can buy."

-Felix, Red Vs Blue, Season 12, episode 18, "Fed vs. New"

Not feeling it; don't think it meets the "absolute" part of the criteria.

"My name...is a foul, unutterable song to your kind. To you all, I am known as Vladik Cardinous, your preeminent author of youthful insanity. I send this as an announcement to the days that follow. The message will spread. The truth will unveil itself and come upon society in a wave of madness. The skies will become choked with blood; your streets will burn; your rulers will crumble and bend; your world will suffer so exquisitely. It is time for the king to reign once more among us. May our blessings be upon all of us; let the defiant be reduced to rubble; let the mighty towers of man be felled under the greatness of a divine, never-ending knowledge. May my servants walk forever and agony be in their steps, for it is their torment that fuels this future and empowers us. May we rise above the insignificant horizon. May the message never stop being spread across this sparkling little universe, the past be cleansed as well as the future, and may a billion lives be broken across the scarlet carpet before the worst agonies ever fall unto you. For our dominion; our influence; and my eternal pleasure...Enjoy the storm I've brewed for you."

-"Vladik Cardinous", The Red Monarch

May be too long, but it does meet the "absolute" part of the criteria.

Adam: You and I were going to change the world, remember? We were destined to light the fires of revolution!

Blake: I never wanted this! I wanted equality! I wanted peace!

Adam: What you want is impossible! But I understand because all I want is you, Blake. And as I set out upon this world and deliver the justice mankind so greatly deserves, I will make it my mission to destroy everything you love.

-RWBY, Volume 3, Chapter 11, "Heroes and Monsters"

I don't think it meets the "absolute" part of the criteria.

Jaune: What is wrong with you? How can you be so broken inside?! To take so many lives, and then come back here and rub it in our faces like it's something to be proud of?! ALL WITH THAT DAMN SMILE ON YOUR FACE! I'm gonna make you pay for what you did! Do you hear me?! Well?! Say something!!

Cinder: ...Who are you, again?

-Cinder Fall being called out for her actions by Jaune Arc, RWBY, Volume 5, Chapter 11, "The More the Merrier."

This one seems good.

"Today we face the greatest threat our country has ever faced: the threat of Communism. In his quest to dominate the world Joseph Stalin has taken measures that were too evil for even the Nazis. He has unleashed poison gas and hydrogen bombs, which make the bomb we dropped on Hiroshima seem like a child's toy. He holds the people of Eastern Europe, China, and Southeast Asia in his iron fist. And he has launched another Final Solution against the Jews. To those who say we can peacefully coexist with such a monster I say: never forget! Never forget that the minute we let our guard down the Soviets will pounce, destroying everything we hold dear."

-Richard Nixon on Josef Stalin, Twilight Of The Red Tsar

Seems good to me.

"If you lie to me, I will ruin you... I will place you back on that bed and I will inflict pain upon you such as you have never imagined. I will violate and mar your flesh in ways you cannot even fathom."

-Siegfried Gunmarsohn to Erin Hasegawa, Under The Cold Moon

Don't think it meets the "absolute" part of the criteria.

"These hillbilly Cokies think I'm meaner than Lucifer. Let's not disappoint them. Burn Myrtle Beach to the ground. Kill everyone you find."

-Charles Oswald, What Madness is This?

This one seems good.

[down]My only issue with the Cardinous quote was that it was too long, but if it isn't, I'm fine with keeping it. Good point with the 1st RWBY quote, but I still don't think the Red vs. Blue quote is good enough, because Felix just says he likes killing people, which I don't think is the full picture of a Complete Monster.

[up] I think the Red Monarch and 1st RWBY quotes count. The 1st one has the villain say that destroying everything will be his, "eternal pleasure" meaning he clearly doesn't feel any remorse for what he intends to do. The 2nd one has Adam spitting in the face of his own supposed good intentions and outright saying that his primary goal is to ruin Blake's life. The Red vs. Blue one may count since he's clearly enjoying it and says that he enjoys killing people.

I just want to have this here for when we start suggesting quotes:

"If you fail in this, I'll kill nine hundred and ninety-nine people in your name. I'll even break my usual rules to get the body count that high, so it's something special, beyond my usual habits. Maybe a bomb, maybe poison. I'll come up with something. I can target the people you love, those you're closest to, people you've affected. Aster there can be the nine hundred and ninety ninth, and you'll be the thousandth. Perfect. Canceling out the impact you've made in the world, it's poetic."

"Mistleteinn is no ordinary Dream Demon. I was once a part of a group pursuing Mistleteinn. She was indiscriminately slaughtering Dream Demons in the Dream World. On that day, my allies and I caught up with her. We didn't stand a chance. I don't know why I was left alive. Was it just a chance? Was it on whim? Mistleteinn was spawned from the deepest pits of hell.....The pits of hell...Humans dispose of the negative emotions they accumulate during a day in their daydreams. They move on to happier days. The pits of hell are where all that supposedly dissipated spite accumulates."
Lestion about his encounter with the vicious Dream Demon Mistleteinn Treesea, Dream Eater Merry
  • I'm not seeing absolute in this one so no.
"I'm Uryuu Ryuunosuke. I'm currently unemployed, and I like killing people, pretty much. Especially kids and young women."
Ryuunosuke Uryuu introducing himself to his Servant, Caster, Fate Zero
  • No for not meeting absolute standard
"I can't believe you fell for that trick! You should be ashamed! Did you really think I have the capacity to feel compassion or empathy for any living creature?!"
Nagi Mokuren as he slowly tries to suck the life out of his former partner, Flame of Recca
  • No since the quote doesn't meet the heinous stadard without the added context.
Barry the Chopper: She seems to like taking things apart so I thought I'd do the same to her! Watch closely and maybe you'll get to see what makes her tick!
Edward: You sick... why are you doing this?!
Barry: Why? Hmm... what a strange little question that is. I guess it's because I enjoy it. The first person I killed was my wife. She was nagging me about something and without meaning to, I chopped her to pieces. But when I saw how finely I could slice her, I wanted more. To reduce people to their most basic building blocks, and I wanted everyone to see...
Edward: That's stupid. Why would someone kill for such a ridiculous reason?
Barry: [looks at Edward insanely] Because they can! Given the slightest provocation, anyone can do it.
Edward: Stay back!
Barry the Chopper: Men have morals, but send them to war and they have no problem slaying each other in the most brutal fashions. Now why do you think that is?
Edward: I have no idea...
Barry the Chopper: [cuts Edward's shoulder slightly] 'Cause deep down inside we all want to kill, most just need the go-ahead from their society. Like the State Alchemists I saw in a village, slaughtering helpless people. Splat! Big fountains of blood!
Fullmetal Alchemist, "Philosopher's Stone"
  • I'd say yes.
"How could anyone say humans aren't weak? It's an inherent trait. How about we take advantage of their weakness? They certainly do make a good natural resource. Right? It's all they're good for."
  • I'd say yes.

[up] I don't think either of the FMA quotes count. The first one is too much of a one-act play(conversation), and the second one doesn't meet the absolute part of the criteria(Father is just saying that humans are weak and make good resources).

[down]For the first quote, by "one-act play", I mean it reads too much like a conversation. For the 2nd quote, I'm saying that just because the quote says Father is okay with killing humans doesn't mean it demonstrates the trope well. It would work better if there was also a bit about Father having no redeeming qualities or something like that.

EDIT: Actually, for the first FMA quote, the first part could work by itself:

Barry the Chopper: She seems to like taking things apart so I thought I'd do the same to her! Watch closely and maybe you'll get to see what makes her tick!

Edward: You sick... why are you doing this?!

Barry: Why? Hmm... what a strange little question that is. I guess it's because I enjoy it. The first person I killed was my wife. She was nagging me about something and without meaning to, I chopped her to pieces. But when I saw how finely I could slice her, I wanted more. [up] I don't really understand what you man by "one act play" but for me the 2nd one feels like Father is almost confused at the idea that human's aren't just good for being resources which to me means that he has zero issues with killing humans.
