Yeah, it obviously wasn't conceived as a Valentine's movie, but it wasn't a bad marketing move. One theater is advertising now that couples watch it to make fun of it. The movie also did get like ~44% female viewers which is pretty good for a superhero movie. If it was mostly dates, that would also explain that it was almost equal numbers.

I think they'll both be okay career wise. Feel more bad for Celeste O'Connor and Isabela Merced. At least Merced will be Hawkgirl in superman.

Dakota Johnson will be fine. She has a billion dollar franchise under her belt, plus nepotism on her side.
There's a reason she's in general so willing to be candid or blatantly phone in performances.

Yeah. It became clear at a certain point that Sony was not worrying about quality, they were worrying about selling a brand—their most lucrative one—that they're afraid to lose.

Well in that case they should care about quality because no-one cares about their brand now.
Like these aren't Ashcan copies, they don't have to churn out 3 movies this year to keep the license. They're hoping to making money from them.
They're also trying to retain success outside of the MCU. Aside from the Spider-Verse movies, its proven to not be an entirely fruitful effort. How Kraven does will probably make it or break it now.
Madame Web already is the last straw for so many as is.

Since Sony doesn't have its own distribution platform, they have generally have contracts with platforms to rotate their stuff. This is probably just part of their agreement with Disney, like how sometimes there is or is not a Spider-verse on any given platform at any given time. Or hell, I think Venom is on there right now.
They don't have someone at Disney picking and choosing everything that makes it onto D+ and haggling over prices.

Isn't Morbius currently on Netflix now? Sony movies usually go to Netflix. I was figuring Madame Web would eventually go to Netflix where more people will probably see it at that point than those who paid for tickets. Haha.
It's definitely on Netflix and not Disney plus in the UK at least. Probably a regional thing.

A female-led superhero movie on Valentine's Day was definitely not a bad idea. From both the trailers and the ads though, little to no people had faith in Madame Web. That Sony made it just to cash in on Spider-Man was called by pretty much everybody and yeah, no wonder the movie's bombing as bad as it is.
