How do I set an avatar?

I'm new to TV Tropes, and I managed to upload a picture for my avatar but I can't figure out how to set it as my avatar. Can someone explain to me how to? I tried to select the picture and share, but that doesn't work.

From your avatar gallery, simply click (or tap) on the image you want to use. It will get a blue border.

I did that, but nothing happened.

Even when I select the image and click share, it does nothing.

No, you don't check Share; you have to click on the image itself so it gets a dark blue border around it, and then click "Process Deletes/Shares".

The change takes effect immediately upon clicking or tapping the avatar. No need to click Cancel or Process. This is somewhat unintuitive, I admit.

I am doing that but nothing happens at all. I don't get what I'm doing wrong - I get the blue border, but my picture stays like I fid not pick an avatar and when I navigate away I do not see anything change.

It's still not working....

Bump. Tried clicking the image AND the "Share" tick box, but it's not doing anything whatsoever, and the Avatar Sharing switch undoes itself every time I refresh the profile page.

I'm similarly failing to set an avatar after following all the advice here.

I am experiencing this particular issue as well. Clicking on any avatar I uploads makes it lit up with blue border but none of the change applies after I refresh. Also, the share/receive avatar option on the profile page could not be turned on either. I have tried this with both Chrome and Safari. I would really appreciate if this issue gets fixed.

Just to make sure, if my images were uploaded to the site successfully, this means they are usable as avatars, correct? There are no size limitation or anything like that?

There is a minimum which you can't upload avatars smaller than 100px to 100px

I'm having the same issue too. I've tried it both from desktop and from mobile, and in both cases the Avatar Sharing switch resets itself to the off position as soon as I navigate away from the page, and no attempt I've made to actually set my avatar from the gallery have done anything.

Is it possibly an account age thing? This account is pretty new, although I don't know if the same is true for everyone else in this thread having the issue.

Just making sure, the avatar could be a square image and does not have to be rectangular like a lot of the ones being used, correct?

I have the same issue

I'm trying selecting a picture I uploaded but it doesn't show up. Do I need to wait to unlock the avatar feature?

I just tried to set an avatar now and it didn't work. Anyone else having that issue?

I know this is late but I am experiencing the same thing that you are experiencing. I was uploading my new avatar and I was changing my forum signature only to realize that I couldn't save the changes. Also, I tried to delete my avatar and reuploaded again only for it to tell me that my avatar was already uploaded de3spite having deleted it before. Is this a glitch?
